Title: The JOY thread
Post by: Loa on March 23, 2020, 11:09:48 PM
Life right now is pooh. (Official Loa ranking).

But you guys make it better. We can all make it better. Please, please, share what is making your day better.
I realise most of us are in isolation, but let's celebrate being kick ass and awesome!

Life right now is most definitely pooh. It’s doing no good for my depression, but I’m keeping sane (and better than I would have if this happened a few years back instead of now) by playing animal crossing new leaf (I don’t have a switch, so the new game is out of reach for me) and just existing. It sucks right now, but I’ve been trying to find joy in the little things.

I spent a lot of money on new pots yesterday. I'm gonna look for some more on wednesday and on wednesday afternoon or thursday I'm gonna replant all my plants in new pots with fresh soil. I'm really looking forward to it, they're drinking so much water now which is a sign there's no nutrients left in their current soil :). It's gonna be interesting with our crazy cat and see how mush she want to "help" out . I really cant wait!

I started playing New Leaf yesterday as we didn't get New Horizons either Friday or yesterday. Apparently I had been gone from my town for three years, still there were no weeds or dying flowers anywhere. And I got a new café!

I put some soil bags out for potatoes and weded over a spinach bed to warm up under plastic. I'll probably sow early next week.

When you realise that going out to do your messages has its perks, in my case a reduced to clear vegetarian banoffee pie!!! Yep I braved it, nice & early & the shop had just opened, did the glass too & topped up the electric. Didn't have everything I was looking for but I will enjoy the pie!!!

My job is on hiatus right now but the good news is I get to sleep in instead of having to get up extra early.  I also have more time to watch anime that I put on my "to be watched list."

Glorious sunny day here in Middle England, which even brought out the butterflies.
My manager who is also in the UK was talking happily about having seen a butterfly too :)

Today my day was made better by the arrival of a package containing J-Dolls, and the fact that I managed to sell my old desk - my job can be done from full home office, and about two weeks ago we were ordered to work from home until further notice. While I knew already that my previous desk was not comfortable or healthy on the long run, for my regular 2x a week home office-scheme it was OK. Well not anymore - so I had to buy a new, bigger one quickly, or else I would have had other health issues very soon. It seems OK now, but we really didn't have the space for both tables, so I'm very happy there was interest for the ad I put up for the old one so quickly (it sold in 3 days. And to boot: the man who bought it seemed very sympathetic, and someone who has been looking for a table like this for awhile. He seemed so happy, which made me happy too, it is always heartwarming when my stuff goes to a good new home ^.^). Now  I am looking forward to move things around a bit during the weekend, as the mess has still not fully disappeared, but now I finally have some space again to put things to.

My order from Chewy came! Pretty fast too, considering. The cats only had two cans of food left and about one more bowl of dry. Best of all - treats! I've been out of treats for so long my Mousie Puff stopped asking for them. Now I can give her all her favorites!

AWESOME! I remember getting the cafe a few years back, and meeting Brewster again. He was one of my favourite characters from wild world, so I was so happy to see him once more.

My fiancé is finally working from home, which makes me happy. It's a weird adjustment, since our daughter wants him to play with her and doesn't understand that he still has work to do, but his job was a big hole in our defenses, so it's really nice to have him home. :)

I've ordered a 1999 September Toysworld catalogue which proves that my theory of the Australian G2 timeline.
I also bought a Australian ex library VHS tape of the original MLP movie, I'll preserve it and look into recording it (I'm using this to hopefully get a toy timeline)
I'm waiting for both to be sent off.

I'm also awaiting for 2 G2 (Twinkleshine and Mommy Bonheur) to arrive from France and a hopefully correct G3 charm (For sweetberry) from Germany (I think)

Yesterday I helped my mother with her groceries again, and apparently my father talked to her on the phone after I left (which is a moment of joy on itself, because they hardly ever talk anymore. :P ). And he told me that my mother said to him that she had a good day because I was there. :D Sounds like nothing special, coming from a mother, but my mother isn't very generous with that kind of words. :P She will never ever tell me something like that herself, so it was extra nice to hear. :D

After today I'm off from work for seven days. Not sure what I'm gonna do with all that free time but I'll figure something out, I do have that fantastic bookpile waiting for me. Also, we got snow!

ZenZen! You sneaky thing, it's so good to see you here! Glad to hear he's been able to start working from home.

I made my favourite smoothie this morning - banana, blueberries (or bilberries, more accurately), natural yoghurt and a small piece of fresh ginger, grated finely. The ginger is like a dash of happiness.

Got up early today (6am), baked some Chelsea buns! This was after happily discovering an unopened bag of sultanas in my store cupboard last night :)

Packed a lamb roast dinner x2 for my Uncle and Dad and delivered them to their respective porches in time for their lunch.

Back home now, sat in my back garden, typing this in my shaded patio enjoying the warmth & sunshine. Wow, am sooooooo tired after such a busy morning! My kid is indoors watching Frozen II so I have a bit of peace, hehehe

My local charity shop is opening back up after a month, which means I'm going back to work! Never thought I'd be this excited for unpaid work, but ehh details. I just can't wait to see other human beings in person again :frolic:

Beautiful, sunny, warm weather this week in the UK.

Yesterday, I set out for a walk at lunchtime. I ended up walking a long way but it felt so good, exploring my neighbourhood by foot, breathing in the aroma of the blooming lilacs and enjoying the cooling shade of the verdant trees.

6km later...  I was back home, my mind refreshed and recharged. I baked some butterfly cakes for VE Day celebrations (drove some over to Dad this morning, along with some shopping supplies & a roast dinner for tonight).

Tonight: looking forward to some mindfulness TV - I used to think Gardeners World was for oldies but they have  changed the format in recent years and is so calming & relaxing to watch. Or maybe I am now an oldie   well, even my kid enjoys it too  :P

Planted some tomatoes, sugarsnap peas and some lovage this week, too. Looking forward to watching these babies grow!

The weather is my favorite today! That is an extreme rarity in May! It's in the low 50s and overcast. I adore it!

Also, a little belated, but a week ago or so we got a new drier. We went April without one and it was no fun having wrinkly stiff clothes/towels/etc.

Baked gingerbread this afternoon with my kid - who prepared a special one for Daddy by hiding a tiny piece of paper with a secret note inside one of them!  (a bit like a fortune cookie)

Did a "zone 2 heart rate" run today, first time I have ever attempted one and it was actually quite relaxing -
or maybe it was because I was running so slowly to keep my heart-rate low -
but anyway, it allowed for me to concentrate on my breathing instead of being a panting mess! Managed to clock over 20,000 steps as a result today (I barely hit 3,000 on Sunday).

Watched an old DVD of Jane Austen's Persuasion - that was nice, too

Well sold those pony tails on eBay.uk for £23, along with a bait G1 lot £15, and some hair that I’ve been trying to get rid off for £16. And with that money I brought (well my mum did) Sea Shimmer with her float (no hair brush) for £20 along with Tiny Bubbles with her float (no hair brush) for £20.

Plus a bait No Country Mum Bright Bouquet that I ordered from Etsy came today, she has new hair now Cherry Brandy nylon hair.
