Pony Corral / Re: Loungefly wallet concerns
« on: July 15, 2023, 09:14:49 AM »
I sincerely doubt it's a fake. It's a very specific wallet to have duped and there are likely more sought after ones to have duped. I'd agree with a lower quality printing.

Anything can be produced as a counterfeit version these days, but it would be great if the wallet was legit. That is the ideal outcome.

That's why I posted here hoping other collectors own the wallet and can share photos of it. Finding owner photos is really difficult.

I don't have one myself, but I saw one recently at shop when I was picking up some vintage MLPs, and it looked beautiful. Crisp printing. I almost bought it myself but ended up going with a different one. Loungefly products in my experience are always beautiful, I've never seen one that looked to have poor quality - did you buy from Amazon directly or a secondhand seller? Can you compare photos to others people have online? I have come across counterfeit Loungefly items before, but not often, so it could just be a printing issue.

It came from a third party seller on Amazon. It was on sale so maybe a red flag, but I've gotten almost all of my Loungefly products on sale in the past with no issues.

I've had a lot of trouble finding owner photos of this wallet. The Dream Castle itself is quite fuzzy/thin lines and the birds look a little off. Some other areas of art have thin lines as well but they're in places where it makes some sense like a pony's mouth.

The idea of there being fakies is a real possibility as well sadly enough, but maybe we would have seen more of that by now?

I tried searching a bit on Google to see if this wallet is known to have counterfeit versions. I didn't find anything (also didn't have much time to look) but there were several hits about counterfeit Loungefly in general. I know there's counterfeit makeup on Amazon even of cheap, drugstore products so it makes sense Loungefly would be a target even without being designer.

I also wondered if maybe it was factory seconds kind of like some of the Taobao G4s.

Yeah, I honestly didn't even think about it but I guess I should have.

Even if you dont have the exact same one, it could still be good to know if all of the printing is crisp. Im gonna inspect all the Loungefly super close next time I'm at the mall. I'm not a collector or anything, but I've never had or seen this issue before.

I grabbed the Loungefly wallet with Dream Castle and Skydancer on sale from Amazon recently, but some of the printing looks a little fuzzy and poor quality for Loungefly. Can anyone who has this wallet share some photos to help me figure out if mine is legit?

I wasn't around when these released so I don't know if there are any known quality control issues with the line.

Off Topic / Re: The Plant Thread
« on: May 22, 2022, 01:10:48 AM »
so i have a practical question about houseplants. how do you water without spilling all over? take them to the sink? i want to get some houseplants but i worry about making a mess. i'm very klutzy. to the point that when i cook my dog hangs around because she knows i will drop something. and i always do. i really don't want dirt all over the house. it's enough with the dogs.

For watering, it depends.

I have like 70+ succulents and most of them I bottom water in plant-only bowls. I mostly fill the bowls with water, put the pots in, and fill up the remainder of the bowl. They sit there for 20 minutes to 3 hours depending on how long I forget them for, lol. Others are too big so they go in the sink and get drenched. I use extremely fast-draining soil since its the best for succulents so I would not be able to water them without some kind of bowl/sink or being outside. Water literally pours from their pots like a waterfall.

My non-succulents (which I'm still trying to be successful with) get watered normally - some water poured on them from above. They have more organic soil and don't get the same drenching so there's not as much water. They also have saucers, which I find helpful. I don't like having pots without drainage.

Dirt isn't a huge issue for me but I mean, its dirt. Its gonna get places. I spent my day repotting most of my collection and took the opportunity to wipe down the windowsills and vacuum the carpet. Because my pots have proper drainage, a little soil falls out sometimes. Its not a big deal and its easy to clean but if you're super strict about cleaning it would probably be annoying. I wouldn't recommend houseplants for anyone who doesn't want to deal with dirt/water spills indoors because they definitely happen.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Is eBay safe for sellers?
« on: May 05, 2022, 12:15:36 AM »
i sold on ebay last year and it was mostly fine. what i don't like is that the process is a lot more automated. there is less opportunity to resolve issues with the customers. i would recommend sticking to domestic shipping. the international shipping is hard to keep track of. i didn't have anyone scam me though. sold about 100 items i think. some of them were high dollar nirvanas.

I only do international shipping in very rare circumstances and not at all right now with the lingering issues to the supply chains. Its just not worth the stress.

I found that as long as I sold ponies it was fine, but when I started selling off second hand designer clothes that I'd collected over the years, I quickly met with false negatives and stress, I think it was other sellers competing with me. So then I got some negs that I worried might affect my other sales, so I stopped selling for the past three years. So maybe it depends on the sector. I would have to read into the exact rules at the present time because they change all the time. You can get through to a person on Ebay but you have to use the chat in my experience. I've had good luck with it but as I say i don't have recent experience as a seller.

Oh yeah, I could definitely see competition getting ridiculous like that. The market for these types of books is generally pretty chill so I'm not too worried about competition/retaliation, at least not for the editions I have. But its definitely possible. Last I heard eBay didn't care at all about their sellers or this kind of behavior.

Snag tights are awesome! I have 2 pairs of wool tights, which are amazingly warm, and rainbow fishnets. I wasn't a tights fan before the brand but they make me want to incorporate them into my wardrobe more.

I had no idea they did an MLP collab. Hopefully I can snag Besties Forever or Lets Party before they sell out.

Trader & Shipping Support / Is eBay safe for sellers?
« on: May 02, 2022, 01:13:37 AM »
I've heard so many horror stories over the years so I've done my best to avoid eBay as a seller. Unfortunately, I have some high value non pony items (special edition books) that aren't selling on FB and I really need the money for baby stuff before my daughter is born.

Is it safe to use eBay or is the possibility for scams/forced returns/etc just too high? Some of these books are $100-300+ a piece and I'm terrified of a scam or a forced return that has the book coming back in bad condition. Even unintentionally, its so easy for books to get damaged in the mail.

Surprise Twins Mommy! I always said I wanted her the next time I was pregnant, but there's no way that's going to happen before my due date.

I'm going to have to check out our Ross this weekend! I love the set but just wasn't willing to pay full price for it.

I love them, and would love to have them, but a limited item that's gonna sell out in seconds just frustrates me now. I'm so over LE stuff.

The Dollhouse / Re: Madame Alexander Dolls - Help Needed

I haven't had much luck finding anything as far as a solid community or resources go for vintage dolls. You may be able to find some Madame Alexander doll books showing various releases. I know my library has some.

I would suggest joining the FB group "Vintage and Antique Doll Showplace" and seeing if anyone there is willing to help you out.

I'm not surprised Addy went fast, she's beautiful.

My Josefina arrived earlier this week and she's absolutely stunning!

Unfortunately her hair is a mess. It looks like some of it isn't long enough to stay in the braid, which is frustrating. I'm not sure if its a defect or not since I haven't heard anyone else mention it. I'm still deciding if I want to try for a replacement or not.

I have my childhood Kirsten still, but is it weird that I want another brand-new one too?

Its not weird at all! I know some people are really against duplicates in their collections, but if that's what you want I see nothing wrong with it. I already had a PC Addy before ordering the 35th and I have 3 Kaya dolls. I'm planning to add at least 3-5+ more Kayas to my collection over time too. Duplicates are my thing
