...well, in their defense, even *serious G1 collectors* thought piggies were just fakies for a long time. :/  I seem to remember stories of them getting thrown away and so on, until a MOC one was found.

That's very true lunar... I remember a friend of mine trading a common pony for one because we all thought it was just an amusing fakie and she thought it was cute! Plus, the Fluttershy custom version did look really nice I'm just amazed at how well she cleaned up after!

yes that is ture i remember one collector telling me how she had left some behind at a car boot sale thinking they were fakies ~ she feels ill at the very thought of her actions now!

And not only piggies, but a lot of nirvanas were left behind also.

I don't wanna think about how many SA ponies were discarded due to their rooted tales and not being 'ponies'...  Even I almost left behind a Macau Blosscoth due to not thinking it as a 'real pony'...  *hugs my Blosscoth that in the end took her with me*

yep.  And I've had people come up to my table at the MLP fairs, and guiltily tell me they think they customized a part-white blue belle...  My response: "Oh well, I wouldn't beat yourself up over it, you didn't know!"

After all, the customizer is the one out money, not us, lol.   I mean, sure, it's a shame when a rare pony gets customized, but if the person left it to rot away in their attic and never customized it, we would never have gotten those piggies in the community...  So if you think about it, the near-loss of 1 saved others.
