Splashlings!!

Anyone else see the new Splashlings toy? Apparently only at TRU right now. Similar to Shopkins only they are ocean themed. They are cute as heck!! After a pretty lousy last couple of years, it is fun to find something new to collect!

I've seen them. I've been trying to resist, but I love mermaid and the mermaids are so cute.

Not sure if it the same company that does Shopkins. I have managed to stay away from them thru willpower. But these guys sucked me in!

Seen them quite a bit recently on toy youtubers' blogs. They really do look a lot like ocean-themed Shopkins and the cuteness/quality of the design really seems to vary by character in my opinion, actually. They are not made by Moose toys, but rather another brand (TPF Toys) first attempt to market in the U.S., if I recall correctly.

They are definitely trying to capitalize off the Shopkins craze though, with the playsets/blind/bags/multiple figure with a blind bag sets and everything. And the design. And even the name a little, haha.

I learned from several Toy Fair videos that they were invented by the guy who came up with Pound Puppies. He was the one actually showing them off and telling the story of how he came up with it. Also he mentioned Series 2 was going to have the pirate shark mermaids from the webisodes.
