60th Birthday Ponies

I just finished up a commission today for a set of 4 ponies.  My mother in law is one of a group of 4 ladies who became friends in kindergarten and are all turning 60 years old this year.  So she commissioned the set of ponies to commemorate their 60th birthdays to be given to the ladies next week when they get together to celebrate.

Each girl was to have be rehaired matching the lady's hair colors and hairstyle.  Their symbols were to be the birthflower along with other items that mean something to them.  On the non display side she wanted the number 60, and each pony was to have a Swarovski crystal birthstone angel necklace.

Huguette, born in August, loves decorating with driftwood and found rocks - her birthflower is gladiolus and her birthstone is peridot.

Nicole, born in September, is a musician and former music teacher - her birthflower is morning glory and her birthstone is sapphire.

Carole (mother-in-law), born in November, loves going to Arizona each winter and playing tennis - her birthflower is crysanthemum and her birthstone is topaz.

Marie, born in December, was harder to find a symbol for so we went with a sunburst of light - her birthflower is poinsettia and her birthstone is blue zircon.

I can't wait to hear how the ladies like their ponies when they receive them next week!

Those are amazing!!  How sweet of your mother in law to commission those for her friend group    They look perfect, and it is so sweet how individualized each pony is.  I love seeing manes parted like that (and so well!), I haven't done that in ages but its great for "people" ponies.

What a beautiful gift!  I love the detailing, the love, and the care that went into each girl.  As a set they look ready for troub- I mean fun!

I was very happy with how they turned out and the weaving of the hair was incredibly satisfying rather than tedious as I thought it would be.

My MIL wanted to be surprised by her pony so she hasn't seen it...so they all will be surprised as they open them together!
