Remember the letter writing campaign to get BF to make the colorswirl ponies, did anything ever happen with that? Obviously they didn't make them but did they acknowledge it in any way?

Pony Corral / Re: First Look at G5 Toys

They both look uncanny, bizzare and generic. Like MLP, even G4, had a distinct look to them that you could just tell a part from other horse toy lines but these look like they could be made by anyone/be from any line

The heads are too close to human heads it makes me uncomfortable to look at, the hair being rooted only to the crown of the head does not help either. The necks are too long and placed weirdly with the head, the legs are not great either

I also don't like the "mechanical" look of pipp either but that comes down to cheapness in engineering

I have two of her, got one at the 2018 pony jubilee in MN and got one from Craigslist in 2019

She is the hardest of the set to find around here, I found two of the blue heart dazzle glows locally in 2019 so it's funny she's the same sort of rarity

Pony Corral / Re: Child Crimes Against Ponies!

I was very good with my toys, I'm not sure if my mom instilled the respect of personally property in me from a young age or what but the meager amount of toys I was allowed to keep from childhood look immaculate, the kind of ponies I always wish to find in the wild haha

when it comes to kids so many adults seem to forget what it's like being a child, they often say things like "oh they're just a child, they don't know any better" But I distinctly remember even far back as age 3 when I did naughty things it was on purpose, I wanted to see what would happen I absolutely knew

So perhaps that was part of it, I really liked my toys and didn't want to see what would happen if I purposefully did destructive things to them. Also my playing was very sedate (more like a collector haha) I'd just line or set things up and look at them

The human like faces kinda creep me out, and the manes seem to be on thier heads not down the neck

Pony Corral / Re: The Mimic Phenomenon
« on: March 24, 2021, 01:00:32 PM »
I think overall the idea of Mimic being well loved and sought after is what makes her prices so high is probably the biggest contributing factor

I've found 3 of her in the wild (technically 4 but the seller had already taken some ponies out of the lot for her granddaughter and of course one of them was mimic, in this case I did believe the seller actually kept the ponies most cases that's a sad excuse when some other buyer swoops in and steals a sale) and there are ponies that are more common and less valuable that I have never found in the wild

In regards to prices going back to normal. Hmm, no I don't think they will go back to the 100-150$ range but they will probably come back down from the current craziness. As more and more collectors enter the community there's less and less to go around so as the years go on it will just get more expensive

I bought one from a friend in 2019 for a good price and last year I found one on the marketplace. I love the tropical babies <3

Nerddelight on Instagram makes silicone ponies, she combines different heads and poses, her work is amazing

Based on what we have so far I get the feeling Hasbro is trying desperately to catch lightening in a bottle again but I feel like this might just be a mild/average success rather than a unusual runaway cult success

sunny looks like someone stuck a lego head on a horse body.
haha yes

The animated version feel even more Disney to me. I assume for the TV show it will be 2d style or downgraded 3d

Oh the faces on the toys... T_T the bodies look nice but the faces look weird and not like the animation like the top of the head just keeps going up and up haha

I hope there will be more/better photos, I am undecided on if I will collect them or just pick them up when they hit the thrift stores a couple months after release.

The movie and tv series isn't important to me overall

Haha

Not a fan of it overall, we shall see, but like Zapper said if it keeps creepy adult men away I'll be happy. We'd have more of a chance of that if they'd just let G4 go and not make them a main point in the story

This art style is much cuter than g4 but the faces really are too human like, just exchange the round line meant to imitate a muzzle and draw a nose. I also don't like the horn and wings being different than the body color, it all being one color is like a trademark of mlp while different colors I think of fakies and wannabes

It doesn't sound silly at all, I would say they'd like to take over as much of the entire entertainment industry as they can
