Off Topic / Stupid injuries, and just plain stupid....
« on: May 14, 2015, 10:57:35 PM »
So, in the last couple of days I have:

Acquired a rather painful bruise on my knee when I tried to Cirque-du-Soleil my way to the other side of the toy room. (it's, uh, messy)

Nicked myself not once, but twice with a box cutter while trying to open the insanely secure packaging for my new end table. (stupid flat-pack furniture)

About an hour ago, took a chunk off my knuckle when I tried to fix the bedsheets, slipped, and rammed my hand into the edge of the bed frame.

And my special stupid human trick for the night:

It took about 20 minutes and my husband coming down to the basement to determine that the reason the dryer wouldn't turn on.....was because I hadn't actually set the dial to anything. Kids, don't do laundry while tired and headache-y.  >_<

Anyone else having a dumb week?

On a scale of one to orange, how strange are you?

Sky blue pink; purple monkey dishwasher.

Congrats, it's lovely! Absolutely fill that baby up with ponies. :) I voted for leaving as is, though. It's so beautiful as it is now.

I'm currently searching for a vintage barrister's bookcase to display some my collection, once I start reorganizing. They're so expensive, though. :/

Mine is definitely what I would call orange. I don't have a Tuneful to compare it to, though. (or maybe I do! I have no idea anymore  :P)

The bathtub and the rattle came with the nursery. Different releases came with different colour accessories, so there's both a pink and a blue tub. The cup came with the party pack. I don't know anything about the rest :)

I was so surprised when I found her; guess I was really not paying attention when I dug the rest of my G1s out of storage a couple months ago....  :P

I wish I could remember where I got her, at least enough to know if I found her here in Canada or if she came in a lot from the US or the UK. Unfortunately, it was more than a decade ago, and my memory is just not that good.

......hiding out in your herd, that you forgot/didn't know about.

I was poking through the insane toy jungle that is my toy room, and came across this pretty girl:

Her neck is factory sealed, and her washer is definitely still in place. Her head is a bit darker than her body, so I'm guess she's a combo of the two Pretty Beat variations. I did a quick search here, and it looks like at one point Raindrop had one like her, too.

She's also got these weird black flakes scattered about that seem to be part of the plastic (factory debris?), and airbubbles in the plastic on some of her hooves that my phone camera couldn't quite pick up.

I have no idea when/where I got her, it must have been years ago (and was probably either in an ebay lot or was a thrift find) but I'm happy to have her!

Anybody else ever find a surprise in their herd?

Delphian, I found some of those too! I ended up buying a couple. I'm interested in how they're put together/come apart, but I haven't had a moment to look at them closely yet.

At one point I had a small army of Fireflys, but most of those were given to friends' kids. Also, Skyflier. Always Skyflier. I think I have 4 of her currently.

Introductions / Hello from Saskatchewan!
« on: March 15, 2015, 11:09:24 AM »
Hello everyone! I'm Amber from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. I've been collecting in some form or another since I was a child in the 80's, but less so the last number of years due to life getting in the way. I've recently been able to get back to active collecting; mostly G1's, but some other gens, too.

At last count, I had roughly 500 ponies, but that number is out of date and my toy room is a complete mess right now. I'm planning to do a complete rehaul soon, but I have to finish reorganizing the spare room/yarn room first. (Knitting is my other obssession) ;)

I look forward to chatting with you all!
