Ok, so I almost never find ponies in the thrift store. If i do they're happy meal ponies or G3 usually. I took a shopping trip yesterday and decided to stop by Value Village to check it out. This area is about 45 minutes away from me so I only been to that thrift store a couple times. I was browsing items and came across the wall where they hang all the small bagged toys.
I wasn't finding much when I came to the end and saw a familiar sight. G1's!
I went on to find all of this.

Can you see anyone in there? I think they all came from the same owner as most of them have horrible hair that's almost been turned into dreadlocks.
Here they are freed from their plastic prisons.

This has got to be the most G1s I've ever found at the thrift store. Quite a few have tail rust and look like they're full of mold which needs to be cleaned out. It seems I promptly broke the Dance and Prance pony. I wound her a little to see if she worked and she did. So I wound her again but it seems I wound her one too many times cause now she won't dance anymore. Does anyone know if I ruined her or if she can be fixed?
Anyway, I was just excited to find G1s at the thrift store that I bought all I saw regardless of condition, lol.

Oh wow! Its so amazing that all these years later G1s can still be found in the wild. Congrats on them!

that rocks!

What a nice haul of G1 ponies! I was looking at the yellow SS with the pink mane and wondering who it was - then I figured out it was Sunlight who was a bit discoloured, lol.
I am not sure about the mechanism on the DnP pony. If nobody here can help with your question you might be best to post in the Pony Corral to see if anyone there can help.
Congrats on your score. That is a lovely line up of G1 babies you now own :frolic:

It's awesome that you found them.

At least half of them will have to be opened and cleaned out. I can see the black stuff inside through their bodies. I was most surprised to see a princess and a boy in the lot. Best thrift store find by far!
-
Eeeeee, look at all of those babies! Hope they clean up nicely for you. Congrats on your amazing pony luck!

Be very careful with the DNP pony. I opened one and they have a wound up metal spring. Sliced my hand clean open when it popped out. Great finds though!

ooo that is a good looking lot there, the so soft Sundance should come clean if you clean her carefully in warmish water and oxyclean the yellowing is the glue thats holding the flocking on.

Hmm, maybe I broke the spring and that's why she'll no longer dance. Not sure if I want to pop her open to find out.
