Thank you so much

and also for the heads-up on gift wrapping - think I'll do it so that it can be opened and re-closed easily if required.

Are there any restrictions on sending G1s as presents to Australia from UK?
The pony in question is a rehaired G1, a Christmas present for a friend. Would this cause any customs problems as I know that your rules are pretty strict?
It will be gift-wrapped in a postal parcel with a couple of other items that I'm sure are OK.
Thanks

Re-tail them with a toning tail if you haven't got a spare exact match.

I've got a lovely white Gingerbread who came without a tail - she's now got a plain blue one which matches her blue stripe. And a Seashell who has a rainbow tail that was a spare.
My reasoning is that should they ever be sold on it is an obvious repair, but that the pony is in display condition for those who don't mind repair/restoration.

I have three!
They have faded over the years so they are three different shades of orange and look like different ponies. We call them the Wigwam Brothers.
I can't part with any of them as they look so fab together.

Two ponies that I think sometimes get overlooked, possibly because they are such gentle-looking ponies without the overt flamboyance of some of the others are TAF Fifi and Rainbow Sunlight.
There's something so calming and gently beautiful about both of them in 'person'.

Taffeta, your PhD sounds fascinating. I know very little about Japanese equestrian culture - are there parallels with the European traditions of the horseman?

Sorry if going off topic a bit (though it is relevant as this 'ponies are for girls' is a very very modern phenomenon and far from universal)

I'm really glad that they did this because I wasn't allowed to have mlp when I was little. I remember one time a loooooooooooooooong time ago my mom finally gave in and bought me a little tube of fakies while we were grocery shopping. I had a blast with them until my dad got home and they all mysteriously vanished.....

That is so sad

and ironic as in real-life horses have been associated with both males and females for millenia across many many cultures

I've been lucky enough to have been around ponies all my life - always been my greatest passion.

I currently have 2 ponies - my beloved Fell pony, and his companion who is loaned from a local sanctuary.
Love them to bits.

As the whole family I love the Apple Delight family.

Daddy Celebrations is a stunning looking pony but I'm not so keen on the rest of his 'official' family. Mine has a whole bunch of different 'relatives' with him here.

I like most ponies in the trotting pose, Gusty pose, Beachball pose and Chief's pose.
For the others it depends upon the individual pony, in my eyes some suit their poses and some don't.

Another thought has just struck me, so I've been having a bit of a prod at my boys -

All 3 Daddies are still squishy and the plastic is fairly soft. The brothers and mountain boys are going hard, (through age and plasticiser leakage perhaps?) and Slugger is the hardest of them all, he's a little rock.
Are they made from slightly different formulations of vinyl and do ponies shrink as they harden?

Out of my boy ponies :

Daddies Bright Bouquet (China) and Sweet Celebrations (Hong Kong) are bigger than Fireball who is in a similar body pose.
Daddy Apple Delight is not quite as tall as the other two Daddies, more akin to the height of Wigwam.
The mountain boys appear to be more in size with the big brothers, except for my Slugger who is smaller than all the others.

They do like to do their own thing these lads..............

The two symbols I like best are both very simple - Snowflake's glittery snow and Gusty's maple leaves.
Also flower symbols such as the Flower ponies and Posey.
