You need stringing cord for any jointed doll. Not plain ol' elastic.
You can get it from here: http://www.dollspart.com/spgm.cfm?dpt=H&srch=D6&item=12001
It's a very reliable doll business. I've been buying from them for near six years now. :) The 1/8 even will probably be the appropriate size for BJD's, depending on size. The smallest cord is for stringing 8-12inch dolls for an idea.
They also carry S hooks.

Most elastic sold in fabric or craft stores is not strong enough to support the weight of a BJD. The doll will flop around & not stand. Also, you need stainless steel for the s hooks. Those can be found in hardware stores. Softer wire will be bent out of shape by the tension of the elastic, and other metals will oxidize & discolor your doll over time. Volks USA sells restring kits with everything you need, and they ship to Mexico. http://www.volksusa.com/tools---materials-assembling.html

Hannaliten, where did you get it? I am having a heck of a time finding shock cord in person, but some on amazon.

I got it at Seattle Fabrics, they have some on their website. I got the 1/8" one, in white.
