YES! Finally cataloging my entire collection!

Ok, so I'm not the most organised collector in the world, but the other day mum offered to make me a professional database (as she is trained to use very specific and complicated programs) , and today I decided to write down all the information required for her to make me a database. Well, I finally finished! All 72 of them are now cataloged    That's excluding my 5 customs made by myself, 5 G2s not yet in storage (cannot remember the exact number from my childhood that are in storage), 15 G3s that I have decided to keep, 5 G4s and 1 Blind Bag. So as an estimate total I have 103+ ponies in my personal collection. That's excluding the 30 odd ponies I have for sale/trade at the moment    So in my household, about 140 odd ponies...! I never thought I would own so many 

I am just so glad I have finally got around to cataloging them, I know I should be doing something more important but I felt that I should probably get it done ... that way mum can make me an offical database on the computer    I've got many more pony jobs to do, like cleaning up a few childhood ponies as I want them to look stunning  Whilst doing this, I learnt a lot in the way of 'bargains' and 'total rip-offs'! I definitely got some steals like a really good condition Baby Sister Sweet Celebrations for only £2.34... (I say bargain as for 2 years I have been buying from ebay, and the prices can be shameful and seriously overpriced!  )

i know my ponies by memory, i might not know the names off the bat, but if see one i can tell if i have it already or not.

That's very true. I just went ahead with updating it and suddenly it shows that I've somehow acquired an additional 15 ponies. I'm not really sure if the number is valid, but it has to be. Looking through the records, the last update was with the travelling ponies...

Thanks Crissytree I know all my ponies names off the top of my head but I am cataloging them in terms of value, year, colour etc so if I want to immediately pull out a certain pony from the data I just type in its colour/value/year xxx

Cool! I should start doing this soon I think. Like keepinf a spreadsheet or something. I do keep a wishlist that I cross stuff off of as I get it but that's not reflective of every item in my collection. I hope I don't get to a point where I start forgetting though really. I try really hard to memorize all their names and what ponies belong to which wave but it might start getting tough depending on how many years g4s are made...

Awesome! Congrats. =D I finally made myself a few spreadsheets last year, and I'm so glad I did. And I'm proud to say that I still keep up with them (I'm totally the type to start doing something and then forget about it or just get tired of doing it..).

I definitely recommend you catalog everything you do - as soon as you acquire new ponies, add them. As soon as you trade/sell ponies, remove them. You'll feel so organized lol. I'm sure it was far easier for you to start with less than 100 ponies...I had probably over 500 when I made my spreadsheets. Needless to say I haven't bothered listing more specific things like condition or value. Yet.

I recently started photo cataloging all of my 300+ ponies when I'm bored! Congrats on joining the heard with organizing! Makes it nice to know who you own especially away from home!
