Everything had to have the right name and woe become anyone who decided they should call the pony anything different lol!

Are you, by any chance, quoting the brony minister of fanon names?

But I agree, I'm not into renaming either. Though sometimes I feel tempted (picture related)

I was such a weird little girl - no imagination and obviously rather strict! Everything had to have the right name and woe become anyone who decided they should call the pony anything different lol!

But some of these renames are fantastic!

Princess Sparkle "Lucy" is the best!

Thank you Hathorcat.^.^ I'm very proud of naming her that. ^_^

I call Plumsweet "Sugarplum" and Tink-a-tink-a-too simply "Tink."  I think that's all I have right now. :P

When I was a kid, everyone knew I collected MLP's, so it wasn't uncommon to receive multiples of the same pony from different people on my birthday or Christmas. :) I always kept my original ponies' names what they were on the packaging (I have no idea how I remembered them all, but I did), but the doubles would get new names. My Galaxy double became Galaxian, *LOL*, so original. Tex's double became Wild, because, you know, Wild Wild West, haha. Honeysuckle's twin was Honeyflower. I wasn't that creative in naming my doubles. XD
Don't look for me!

The biggest name change I had was calling Whizzer "Maylox."  Lol  WHy?  I have no idea.  Probably cause I saw the maylox commercials on tv a lot when I was little - maybe? :)

When I was a kid, I didn't even know they came with names already. I'd never seen the show, and got all my ponies secondhand. So I named them myself.

Posey was "Tulips", and Applejack "Apples". I also had North Star, Glory, and Cotton Candy, although I don't know if I ever gave them names. I named an all-white pony "Harmony", and I'm still trying to ID that one. In fact, I'll be making a thread about that shortly.

I knew the "right" names of all my childhood ponies, but once I started collecting ponies as a teen (before I had internet), I sometimes didn't know the names.  I know I named Speedy "Cogs".  Can't remember the other names I gave ponies, offhand.

I think Raincurl may have been called "Bananna Curl.". For some reason, my six year old brain got stuck on her yellow curl, even though it was only 1 curl out of 4 (and that isn't what Bananna curls are.). :)

That is perhaps the most random of renames!!

The only ones I really remember are...

Cherry Treats was "Cherry"
Blueberry Baskets was "Blueberry" (and he was a boy and dating "Cherry")
Sugarberry was "Strawberries"
Parasol was "Umbrellas" (still makes me smile, really fond of Parasol to this day because of this)

The others I guess I didn't have set names for or I just don't remember them. Most of my ponies came from yard sales so I never knew their names unless they were on the show, which was just North Star that I had as far as I remember.

Hehe...yeah.  At least my other re-names made a little more sense (like "Shoe-y" for Speedy).  If I ever had a re-name (which I USUSALLY didn't), they usually ended with an "ee" ("-y").  Maylox was just the oddball of my renaming :)

I got Lickety Split from my cousin and never knew her name... she was called Strawberry Icecream.  Romper with the bunnies on her flank was named Hopper.  The TTT Sniffles and Snookums I bought myself, but didn't like their names.  I called the one Rattles and the one with the leaves was Flora... although I think I called her Flower on more than one occasion.

Not only I didn't know their names, I didn't even name them!  What is wrong with me?

I completely loved them, but I didn't ever think of naming them. I think I just referred to them like "the Cherry pony" or "palm tree pony" or "seashell pony".
I was sort of the same way! I did use the names they came with if I knew or remembered them, maybe half of what I had, but I didn't make up names for the others. The only exception was my Brilliant Bloom, which I called Wind Whistler because I really wanted her, but didn't have her.
