Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Horse ID ideas?
« on: February 08, 2020, 11:08:27 AM »
Hi; I've seen a pic of a dapple grey figurine horse on an auction which looks intriguing and I'd like to know what it is (brand/model). However the pic is not good enough to view the key feature that would ID it.
It has what appears to be a small shield shaped logo on its flank - which has a horse within the shield, and a banner with writing that I can't read across the bottom of the shield itself. This logo also appears on the accessories that comes with it - notably two blankets/covers (purple and blue respectively).
I don't think it's a Grand Champion, Breyer or Schlieh (spelling?). Any ideas based off of the above?!

Hi all

I have two G4 Star Swirl lots available for sale.

Shipping is from New Zealand and does not include tracking (which is available but very expensive). International Shipping is at buyers risk. I cannot be not responsible for lost parcels or any import taxes/duties. I have excellent seller feedback available. Paypal only. I can load more, detailed pics for serious enquiries.

#1 Star Swirl on her own, in very nice condition. Minor (but not unusual) head/body mismatch, and faint scuff to one eye. Hair lovely. 35US + 12.50US shipping to Euro/US (Aus is a bit cheaper).

#2 Star Swirl + Rarity and Royal Gem Carriage. Comes with (what I think?) are the original two combs and one barrette. All items in used condition; Rarity in particular has seen better days - marks, rubs to eyelashes and very bad hair. Star Swirl is better but has some marks and dry hair. Both ponies have slight head/body mismatch and initials on their bellies. Some wear and bending to accessories. Carriage is discoloured with some wear to painted areas. WILL NOT SEPARATE. 35US + 15.50US shipping to Euro/US (Aus is a bit cheaper).

Pony Corral / How many G3 characters are there?
« on: July 24, 2019, 09:59:00 PM »
Just wondering (since I have gone down a VERY slippery slope...)

And by character I mean not including the 300 variations of Pinkie Pie   Just counting her as 'one' character.

And excluding those little (hard plastic) ponyville, breezie and mcdonalds ponies?

Anyone got a number?  :what:

Pony Corral / ...I can find THIS many of THIS, but never ANY of THAT!
« on: June 25, 2019, 12:01:29 AM »
Sort of a game.... shall we play?

Ever had a pony on your want list, but never seem to ever come across said pony?! And yet, you might have had several of a harder to find counterpart?
Or, it could even be that you've needed/need one last particular pony from a set, but you keep getting a different one?

I'll start with two examples....

I've had at least three Flat Foot Peachys... but I just can't seem to get hold of a FF Blossom!  :P

(And this one is sort of cheating... since I now have the pony I coveted... but still!!)

I had at least four SS Crumpets go through my hands before I was able to get hold of SS Gusty  XD

Now your turn!  :frolic: :frolic:

Pony Corral / Sought after/Hard to find G3?
« on: June 07, 2019, 10:07:39 PM »
I've always been a die hard G1 fan; rather steadfast and never keen to venture. Nor frankly ( ) did I really care for other mlp generations.

I have however always had a soft spot/tolerance for G3. And it seems that tolerance has turned more into a keener interest... or rather... she's rather cute... oh, I like her colours... hmm, nice symbol...

Dang it... now my collection is growing  XD

So, you G3 lovers, as I join your ranks, catch me up on years of ignorance! I'm familiar with the strawberry reef guide on rare ponies, but I'm interested to know what sort of lays beyond that in terms of which ponies collectors have generally found to be popular/sought after/harder to find, based on both store/mail order release and your collecting experiences - both baby and adult ponies.

 :what: :good: :enthralled:

Pony Corral / What's your favorite....
« on: May 15, 2019, 12:16:53 PM »

SYMBOL?   :) :)

We often talk about a favorite set, pony, pose, breed (earth/uni/peg) for example... but what about the symbol/cutie mark on any given pony (from any generation)?

I only thought of this because I just went against my usual collecting MO (I only collect G1, personally) and went out of my way to buy a G3 - purely because I liked her colors and in particular, her symbol, lol!!!

(The pony in question happens to be Bumblesweet. I just adore bees and I even got a couple of hives earlier this year  ^.^ ^.^ )

If I had to pick a different symbol for the question at hand however, MoonJumper (with her little cow jumping over the moon) comes to mind. So cute  :satisfied:

What about you? Have you a favorite or two out there??

Pony Corral / Peroxide cream on ponies?
« on: January 26, 2019, 12:36:44 AM »
I am seeing increasing mention and usage of peroxide cream being used on G1s and playsets to brighten up the vinyl and yellowed plastic.

Whilst I can't deny the before and after images people are posting are impressive, I can't help but wonder if there are long term effects that we should be aware of??

I am no scientist, so I don't really know what chemical magic is going on here. Is it truly safe to use, or have people had long term side affects? I mainly ask because I would hate to buy a pony which hasn't had this treatment disclosed (like acne cream) and have it start to deteriorate down the line. On the flipside, it looks like an attractive option for restoring ponies which I could be tempted by - only I am very, very wary of any chemical treatments used on ponies  :|

Thoughts? Experiences? Wisdom? Bring forth!

Pony Corral / Snowflake symbol variation?
« on: January 16, 2019, 03:23:41 PM »
Hi all

Just doing some sorting and upgrading, and I've hit a conundrum!

I have two Snowflakes here - one who's lived with me for years, and a recent arrival. But their symbols are quite different.

Both are Hong Kong with exactly the same hoof markings. One is a slightly hotter pink than the other.

But the symbols... the new one is distinctly more glittery (albeit a little worn now).
My original girl's are much heavier (and they appear more painted like, a bit like an Italian - though she isn't Italian and they do have some sparkle going on), but the key thing is the ends of her snowflakes. They are more like arrowheads, whereas new arrival's are rounded ends, like the image on mylittlewiki.

I do know from the seller of the new girl (the more glittery one) that she was given the pony as a child in South Africa. Not that I'm sure that would make a difference? Or does it? I don't know where my original girl originated from.

Any clues from you pony peeps? What do your Snowflakes look like?

Is the difference an oddity, a legit thing, or of overall little significance?

Pony Corral / Your pony name
« on: January 19, 2018, 12:14:07 PM »
I thought this was too cute not to share  ^.^

My little family was have a family snuggle and we were joking around. The topic jumped to me asking why the girls chose to watch Spirit, Stallion of the Cimmaron this morning, and I asked if it was because I had allowed them to watch Dances with Wolves for the first time the other day (they're getting older and their minds broader). It got us talking about who our favourite characters were, and what would our Indian names be. It led to a lot of innocent laughs, especially since one of the girls' fav characters was Smiles a Lot - so a lot of the names followed that pattern (burps a lot, cooks a lot... you get it...).

I changed it up to what would your pony name be? My husband was Chief, off the bat. The youngest daughter Little Giggles :)  My eldest daughter unanimously got dubbed Windy. Three guesses why, lol.

Then we tried to pick me. I went through the Mummy pony names... suggesting Mummy Bright Bouquet, because I like gardening. My eldest daughter then trumped all and said, uh-uh.... nope. Mum, you're Mummy Swears a Lot!!!  Ok... not really a pony but it's true and I'll go with it....

 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Anyway, if you had to name yourself after a pony, and your family members, who would they be and why?  :) :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Your favourite... fashion star fillie!
« on: December 28, 2017, 03:37:37 PM »
Oh wow... I didn't think I'd ever veer away from my firm love for G1 ponies.... but a couple of fashion star fillies that came in a lot I purchased recently have turned me to the dark side!!

Oh man... I need them all now!

Who is your favourite?? I only have nine of them thus far, but I just adore Darci. And my sprightly looking 'dark' version Ariel (I'm such a sucker for curls). Of course I want to get more of them, and I feel quite drawn to a couple of the bluer ones like Tamara and Jasmine. Can't wait to increase the herd some more over time

Please talk about your faves, and feel free to photo spam!

Off Topic / Star Wars The Last Jedi
« on: December 21, 2017, 01:58:12 PM »
I'm surprised not to see a thread here already? Have I missed it?

Who's seen it? We saw it the other night and I'd be interested to hear what others think?

I think comments in spoiler tabs might be prudent not to ruin for others who might not have seen it?

Spoiler

I am wading in dangerous waters here... but I was quite disappointed
Since watching it I've been reading reviews have found I'm not the only one walking away shaking their head. It certainly seems a very divisive film!
I thought there were some great visuals and a couple of scenes that were terrific - the rebel ship hyper-driving into the first order's ship - the one stand out scene of the entire movie for me - just WOW!  But.... everything else...
I really felt it was waaaaay over the top CGI in places, like bad on the prequels level (I'm not a fan of those films) and the amount of unnecessary creatures (I think the porgs were the least of this movie's problems - don't get me started on the sea cow thing) were just ridiculous. The whole casino scene... ugh! Not the mention the humour...
What the heck was the film trying to do? From the first two minutes when Poe was playing the "I'm on hold" prank I was really hoping that wasn't setting the tone for the film and oh my... it did :(  The original three Star Wars films had silly humour in them - but that was part of the charm, and not rampant throughout. I felt this new film just way overdid it - it was too frequent; too smart ass.... I feel it was veering wildly away from true star wars, and coming off like any other action filled, rely on the special effects, jump the shark modern sci fi with non-stop chuckles to keep the audience entertained. And perhaps that's what is was - just entertainment. How else to explain the ninja weapon weilding red guards after snork or snope or whatever he was called got nailed? And Fasma... really? What a stupid character. About as bad as Hux.
Come on... this is Star Wars. I'm not a die hard fan, but I cherish the first three films and I think there is a certain level in its universe that sets it apart, which still translates really well with a modern audience despite its age. Was this new film trying to appeal to a more modern audience with different expectations? The Force Awakens was a bit silly in places, but I had lots of fun watching it on first viewing and it managed to maintain the Star Wars spirit. In this one, many of the characters for me felt largely petulant and childish. Even BB8 annoyed me. Kylo was a slight improvement in this film - I liked the internal conflict we saw in this segment of the series and it will be interesting to see where it leads, but at the moment I'm just anticipating perhaps a last minute redemption a bit like Vadar in Return of the Jedi.
Oh boy.... what a rant. So, I'm clearly in the critical camp, perhaps a bit too old school?

I'm sure there are those here who loved it - please tell us why, and feel free to theorise about where the finale is headed :)

And in the interests of friendly, healthy discussion, everyone keep your lightsabers down!

Pony Corral / Dream Beauties price check please?
« on: October 25, 2017, 08:27:25 PM »
Hmm... I posted this in the doll house yesterday but not much response, so trying my luck here, lol!

Just wondering what the going rate for Glider and Sky Splasher is?

Yet to have in hand but they appear to be in average/good condition - no obvious hair cuts or missing wings.

Thanks in advance :)

For Sale - For Auction / HTF Little Pretty Carla
« on: October 10, 2017, 12:50:09 PM »
Hello all

I understand this little girl is a bit on the harder to find side, and she's up for sale. $40US + $11.50US shipping overseas (I'm posting from New Zealand). Tracking can be added, but it's hideous expensive.

She's in very nice condition - a few light, stray marks and she does have a small rub to the paint on her nose. Her hair is in lovely condition.

I do not take responsibility or refund for items lost in transit. I do take photos of your parcel all stickered up ready to go at the post office, and a pic of the receipt to provide proof of send.

Oh boy.., I sure do know how to pick 'em, lol!

So, hopefully this is an easy fix - it's more about helping the seller really! I've won an auction on ebay, and noticed that on my ebay purchase history a day later that it said my payment was still processing. I thought that a bit odd so checked my paypal account where it says that the seller is yet to accept my payment?

Since I don't do a lot of selling via paypal, this is a little new to me. I contacted the seller via ebay and just politely asked if there was an issue at their end (advising the above), and I got a reply saying they were new to this and were confused as to how to go about it. One of their messages replied with: "I'm trying to find out how to get the money into my PayPal"

I am just assuming it's a case of them going to their transactions and accepting my payment. I've suggested that and they said they will look into it (well, I hope they do!!)

Anyway, any suggestions I could give them to help them along? Surely it's as simple as pressing a button and if they have any problems they can just ask paypal?
