Canadian post slow this month? Package isn't showing up...

I sent a package to Canada on April 2nd by First Class International. The buyer on Ebay still hasn't received it. I have noticed that packages that are large and weigh more seem to take longer to Canada. However, I don't know if it usually takes this long. It's been almost 4 weeks and I'm worried. It was shipped from Colorado so obviously it's not that close to Canada.

Anyone know if there is any kind of delay in Canadian Post? Is it Easter that made it slow?

I haven't noticed any significant delays, the last few items I bought have arrived in ~10 days.  All of my stuff has been envelopes or small boxes, though.  Hope it shows up soon! D8

Anyone has anything being shipped from the USA to Canada that is a larger box that weighs 3-4 pounds? Dimensions were 16'' x 10'' x 10''

I find if it's something customs applies charges to, it takes far longer to receive.

Canadian post can be slow (not all the time, but its not unusual for items to be delayed) , and it hasnt been too long yet since you posted the item   Hopefully it should arrive soon.

Only a month?  Don't panic.  You can start worrying around 3 months.  Seriously, it took FOUR months for me to receive a parcel this year.   

It'll be a lovely surprise when it comes to your mailbox.

I've found that proximity to the border doesn't seem to have much, if anything to do with shipping speed I've shipped to and received from Ontario a lot, and it's closer to Minnesota than most states in the US are, but shipping takes at least 2 weeks for a light package.

I'd say the size of your package is impacting the time the most. I'm not sure why, but in my experience, anything weighing over 1 pound seems to get to its destination much more slowly, whether it's from Canada or to Canada.

Yep, heavier packages take much longer.  I receive light parcels from my mom (baby clothes, cards, etc ) in about 2 weeks - anything in a BOX can take like I said, a month or longer.  Seems they only move those packages when they have the space to transport them...  or if you paid for the express shipping.

Thanks guys, you've made me feel a little better.

I keep telling the buyer exactly that. I've shipped quite a bit to Canada and the small 5 ounce packages get there in record time. If it's a letter it gets there even faster. But I remember shipping two Care Bears out and it took 3 weeks for the first time with me shipping to Canada.

The buyer is pretty freaked though. He asked me to call the USA postal service and tell them to release the package :-/ According to him, the Canadian post told him the package isn't in Canada yet and that's what I need to do *rolls eyes*.

Sigh...of course there is no way for them to know where it is since there is no tracking. I don't know if he made up the phone call or if that's what they actually said.

I didn't have a problem shipping to Canada.  He got the package fairly quickly...a little over a week I think.
