Title: repairing customs, can it be done?
Post by: drusilla on May 25, 2020, 07:24:18 AM
Hi all talented artists..

I personally have made 3 customs in my life... i broke 3 needles doing it and never went back....i will leave all that to you guys.

I have a number of customs that were made many many years ago and are in need of help but can anything be done with them?

many are sticky, the paint colour has run into other colours, the heads are no longer glued on, the paint just faded or flaked off or just completely smeared

is it possible to fix them? repaint them? reseal them? to even match the paint color again?

I'm sure something can be done to make them at least a little happier! :) Do you have any pics?

I'd be cautious about touching up any paint if the customs were made by other artists, but carefully cleaning and even resealing is possible and I've done it before. As well as completely repainted some of my older customs...

Gluing heads back on is a pretty simple job, too!

I agree with griffin on this one. I’m not a custom expert by any stretch. But if the custom was made using those techniques, maybe it can be fixed up a bit.

do you know of a way to upload pictures here ?

some of the customs were made by people no longer making customs.

I think IMGBB has temporary hosting. I can mirror them on Discord or Tumblr if you get them up there before they go away.

if you post the pic on deviantart or facebook you can copy the image address and still put it in the image tags here for it to show up
stickiness can sometimes be mitigated by spraying on testors dullcoat sealer
