Question about scented ponies?
« on: April 21, 2013, 09:34:05 AM »
Hi, I just have a question about the G3 scented ponies. I got the pony that is supposed to smell like popcorn (I found her at Goodwill amongst a ton of fakie babies), and while she is in great shape, she doesn't smell like popcorn anymore! Is there any way I can safely get her scent back without rubbing greasy popcorn all through her hair?

Also, I have the birthday cake pony, and she does have her scent. I was wondering if I should seal her in a plastic bag to preserve her smell? What causes them to lose scent?

And for my final question, it's about G1 Perfume Puffs. Are there any left that still have their scent?

Thanks!

Buy a bag of Buttery Popcorn Flavored Jelly bellies and seal her in there a while?
Hard scent to replicate! Not many perfumes smell like popcorn :p

I don't know if it'll make the hair greasy but maybe a few drops of fragrance oil in the roots of the plugs? Fragrance oil is really concentrated so you won't need a whole lot.

I was just wondering the same thing! Only about Sweetberry and Candy Cane ponies, hehe. I think I'm going to get one of those scented car freshers (the little trees) and stick them in a bag with the pony. Maybe they have a popcorn scented one? XD

put your popcorn girl in a ziplock bag alone...
and maybe in a sunny window for a lil bit
the heat will bring out the smell from the plastic :)

and yes every PP ive had still smells very strongly, and even stronger after the ziplock treatment ;)

My Raspberry Jam still smells of Jam but only very faintly I did recently consider covering her in jam and slapping her on a slice of toast...ok I'm joking but I might try that ziplock sunfade thing to get a stronger whiff of jammy goodness...but I'm sure Raspberry Jam is one that shouldn't be sunfaded, she's a pinky purple colour.

I just lightly washed all my Sundae Best girls and it actually made them smell even more! but the ziplock bag + sunlight sounds like a good idea!

The smell is in the plastic itself and often it is not that it has "run out" but rather than the pony is coated in dirt, grime or oil. It may be such that you do not even notice it but even handling a pony will leave oil from our hands on the body - this smothers the scent. I would suggest a 2 fold attack - wash her completely and wipe down with a soft cloth. Then in order to dry her completely, cover her symbols/eyes/blush and expose her to a warm sun , as per relcelestia's suggestion, that should get any scent remaining exposed.

When it came to G1 I had some luck when putting them onto our Aquarium for a few days. The warmth of the lamps inside and the humidity brought back the original scent for a while. It might be dangerous for the plastic though, I dont know, it might cause old plastic to breakdown earlier.
