another auction ended before the end

I was bidding on this item and suddenly, my bid was cancelled and the auction stopped

That's very interesting that an auction for Cupido ended early with the recent thread about her. I guess that discussion sparked some people's interest & someone probably made an "outside of auction" offer.

That is exactly what I thought!!  It stinks that the auction ended early, maybe someone made the seller they couldn't refuse.  I don't know about this kind of practice, especially of there were active bids on her.  That's why I love BIN ponies, I've bought 4 in the last month that way. 
Whoever bought her is lucky to own such a lovely pony.

Was there a Thread around about the pony in the ended auction, I must have missed it if so.
 The same thing happened, auction ended early, with  the Lot of Italian Ponies with the Red Hair Lemon drop the first time it was brought up in a thread as a discussion.
But the seller did not receive payment and that may have been due to the fact it was discussed if anyone brought them forward to the community they would have been recognized.
The seller re listed them and a Community member did win the auction on the rebound. 

It's a shame this sort of thing goes on but ebay does not really care to pursue these sorts of things.

I must concur...I've also gotten all psyched up about a lot and soon thereafter get a message from Ebay that the auction was closed.  I've been listing about 20 lots a week lately, and dozens of people ask the first day if I'll consider a buy it now offer.  Ebay should just make a policy that limits a seller's ability to end a lot early.....only in extreme circumstances like a puppy chewed the ponies heads off.

It's frustrating but I guess it's the sellers item to do what they want with, I think it's foolish because it could go higher than expected. Let's hope she's going to a really lovely herd

It depends really. From my past experience, many sellers are usually reluctant to take offers outside of auction. They get even more reluctant when there already are people bidding in the auction. All this is usually because they want to see how high can the price go, throughout the entire auction.

Though I've encountered a few sellers willing to sell stuff outside of auction. Some of them would do it after the auction ends with no bids, others would end the auction early. But those are a minority.

Mind you, I was mostly reffering to my country's auction sites - I'm not certain if the same can apply to eBay and it's own sellers.

I purchase quite a lot from this seller, and he said that it sold on the spanish forum to krystal so i guess maybe there was a transaction over there going on as the pony was on ebay?
