Pony Corral / Re: The Peachy Question
« on: July 07, 2022, 07:11:22 AM »
I think there's the idea that the FF Peachy came with a version of the My Pretty Pony but I am not 100% about that, whether it's urban myth or proven, since it didn't have a UK release. FF Peachy didn't come into the UK, I've never seen nor heard of them here.

The parlour first came out in 1983. That's even true in the UK. The FF ponies are lot more mysterious here than in the US though.

I'm 100% that FF peachy was never sold on card though. There are probably some which maybe were left over and got shoved into early parlours, though..? It's possible.

I've heard the theory about her coming with My Pretty Pony, but my research into My Pretty Pony is that there was a version of "My Pretty Pony and Beautiful Baby" that was released with what would become known as Butterscotch along with the larger brown Pretty Pony. I've heard people say that FF Peachy came with the "Peachy" pink version of My Pretty Pony as well. I've only seen photos of the version with Butterscotch, however.

But yes! I agree and I think FF Peachy was never released on card.

If I've understood correctly, the collector pose was changed mid-year from flat hooves to concave hooves. The first MLP product released was the original set of six, second was the Pretty Parlor with Peachy, and third was the Show Stable with Lemon Drop. Even though collector sites often list them under Year 2, these two playsets belong to the first release year (1983) and were both reissued the year after.

The Pretty Parlor logically must've been released right during the transition from FF to CF, which is why a very, very small number of FF Peachys exist. While the show stable was released after FFs had stopped production entirely, which is why no FF Lemon Drop has been found.

Thank you! That is an extremely plausible explanation and clears a lot of things up.

I'm a bit obsessed with Peachy too and have kept a lot of minor variations, like two or four hooves stamped, size and colour of symbols. The timeline for all CP ponies isn't too clear in the UK where I'm from but Taffeta's website ETHERELLA.COM is very good.

Thank you for the info on the website! I'll check it out.

I've never come across a Flat Foot Peachy. I've dedicated an entire thread to this question of when it was released and any other information on FF Peachy.

Hi guys, I've been going crazy over researching Peachy lately. Maybe you can help me clear some things up.

When was flat foot Peachy released vs. concave foot Peachy? Personally, I have never seen a FF Peachy IRL, only the CF that came with the Pretty Parlor. Was FF Peachy released in year one with the other FF ponies? To my knowledge, the Pretty Parlor wasn't released until Year 2. Did FF Peachy come with an earlier version of the Pretty Parlor?

MLP Nirvana / Re: Price Check Takara Milky *flawed*

The Takaras seem to go for between $800-$2000, I would have thought about $1000-$1200 with the flaws (small trim and missing bangs).

Love pkw xxx

Thank you, that's very helpful!

MLP Nirvana / Price Check Takara Milky *flawed*

Hello everyone!

I have a lovely but flawed Takara Milky that I am considering rehoming since I have recently upgraded. I may sell her but I also would be interested in trading her.

Her flaws include missing forelock plugs (not totally visible when displayed because of her bangs) and a tail and possible mane trim. There is also some surface dirt and she needs a spa.

Any idea of her current value?

Your photos are lovely: please, details are the last one with the field of blue lights!

Thank you so much! As for the last photo, I took it at a night time illumination at Shinrin Koen, a park in Saitama, Japan.
Here is some information about the event that I attended with Autumn Skye: https://insaitama.com/shinrin-park-winter-illumination/

Pony Corral / Show me your Autumn/Fall themed ponies!
« on: September 19, 2021, 04:23:11 PM »
September 22 is the first day of fall/autumn! Hands down my favorite season. Nothing better than sitting down with a good book and a cup of coffee while wearing your favorite sweater on a fall day!

This topic has been covered many times, but I want to see your favorite fall and Halloween ponies! Not only that, but how about some photos of ponies with some fall-themed scenery? Have any ideas for fall themed photos you want to take this year?

My favorite fall themed pony has to be G3 Autumn Skye. I just love her hair color contrasted with her blue body, and her cutie mark of course! I've taken some fall photos with her and with G1 Dancing Butterflies and Posey. This year I want to take several photos with G3 Abra-Ca-Dabra and Pumpkin Tart as well!

Pony Corral / Re: Who was the very first G3 you ever bought?
« on: September 19, 2021, 03:50:22 PM »
My very first G3 (and very first MLP ever) was Sunny Daze! She was actually a gift. The very first G3 that I bought with my own money was Scootaloo second-hand in Akihabara, Japan.

Wanted! / Re: Any Japan Yahoo Auction Users Willing to Ship to the US?
« on: August 25, 2021, 07:08:26 PM »
I used to live in Japan and provided this service for people. Unfortunately I have moved back to the US for various reasons. However, I can help you with reading the Japanese if necessary. It's also possible for international buyers to purchase some items on Yahoo Auctions Japan directly without using a proxy, if the seller has allowed it. DM me if you need any help!

Pony Corral / Re: Ponies you didn't like until you saw them in person?
« on: August 25, 2021, 06:47:45 PM »
SS Shady was probably that pony for me. I wasn't big on the so softs, and also wasn't a fan of the neon hair, but decided to buy her because I saw one in excellent condition for cheap with the original comb. My first instinct when she showed up in the mail (I had even forgotten she was coming) was to pick her up and hug her! I loved her flocking so much! So Softs are tricky to find in good condition but I fell in love with them from that point forward!

Hello everyone! I'd like to commission an artist to create a logo for me for my vintage toy shop on Instagram, which I hope to start later this year. Posey is my favorite pony, so I'd like a logo including her image, as well as the lettering for the name of the shop, "Posey's Pop-Up Shop". As for the style, I'd like for it to resemble the artwork found on G1 packaging. I think I would like a round logo (one that fits in the Instagram profile picture spot nicely). I'm open to ideas for Posey's pose, etc, but I think her in a rearing pose would be fun.

If you are an artist, or you have an artist that you'd like to suggest, I'd greatly appreciate it if you commented here or sent me a message! I'm not in a rush, so I'd like to see compare quotes from a couple of artists before I make my decision.

Thank you in advance!

Pony Corral / Re: Pony Inheritance
« on: July 08, 2021, 09:17:51 AM »
Thank you for your replies! I'm glad that you both were able to inherit some ponies as well!

I'm a lot like my grandfather, quite sentimental and a lover of nostalgic things. That's probably why he kept so many toys that he, his children, and his children's children played with. I loved to play with metal toy cars as a kid, and sometimes when the axle or a wheel of one broke, he would repair the car for me using zip ties and other things he found in his garage. I found it so amusing that he would repair both real and toy cars in his garage. Those are the sort of memories I treasure.

Someone brought up to me the fact that scents are strongly linked to memory. The fact that these ponies currently smell like my grandfather's garage may be something that I would miss if I were to clean them up. I hadn't realized that until it was pointed out to me. Now I am a little hesitant to do anything to them at all! I think that the scent of gasoline may be what makes them special, oddly enough.

Pony Corral / Pony Inheritance

These two ponies are some of the roughest looking ponies in my collection, but also two of the most important to me sentimentally. I remember seeing them on a shelf in my grandfather's garage, sitting amongst his large collection of vintage toys. They probably once belonged to my cousin, but once she lost interest in them my grandfather put them upon his shelf, and there they sat for decades. I would often admire them, but wouldn't take them from their designated spot. In 2014, my grandfather passed away, and several people ransacked his garage for his tools and treasures, leaving little behind for my family. My mom managed to salvage a few items, including these ponies. This was several years before I began collecting, and I left soon after to live in Japan. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and I found a box in my mother's basement full of my grandfather's treasures that my mom had saved for me all these years. I nearly cried when I found them, with so many memories of my grandfather flooding back. All of my ponies were purchased second hand (I wasn't born until the mid 90s), mostly from people I do not know, so I was so excited to have ponies that I knew were with my family from the very beginning. They smell like my grandfather's garage, have dirt and grime all over them, are extremely yellowed, and have pony cancer. So here are a few questions I'd like to ask:

Should I try restoring these girls, or just leave them as they are, dirt and grime and all? Maybe just clean them and not do anything more, or go ahead and do sun fading, etc?

Have you ever inherited or received ponies from family members? Or have you discovered them in a relative's storage? What did you do in that situation?

G3 Sunny Daze was the very first pony I ever owned, so she holds a special place in my heart! I recently moved however, and have not been able to find her! May the toy gods look favorably upon me and help me find her!!!
