Title: Do You Know About Bakugan?
Post by: JanuaryJoy on February 08, 2021, 10:35:41 PM
Bakugan were a Japanese toy and game card franchise successful in the US during 2007-2012. They're creatures designed to fold into a marble, so you can roll them onto a magnetic card as part of the gameplay. The designs gradually engineered to become quite complex! There's also an anime detailing more lore... I don't care for.
I've had my childhood Bakugan collection since I was four. However, when the franchise was discontinued in 2012, I lost interest. But it came back in late 2018, and they've really done the legacy justice! I've collected the toys ever since, it's so nostalgic. I'm kinda weird because fans are 90% male, though...

Bakugan come in a variety of colors, but most are organized into attribute schemes. I have the most of red Pyrus:

Aquos is my favorite attribute, so I'm trying to get more!

I have the least of Subterra.

Haos can be quite pretty with its whites and grays.

Darkus was my favorite attribute as a child, but it's still cool.

Ventus looked best in 2010's Gundalian Invaders, I wish I had more from then!

Aurelus is a new "gold" attribute introduced with Bakugan's reboot. There's also transparent ones from years ago, and the recent rare Diamonds. I only have a few because of my awful luck finding them in stores.

These are my 145 standard balls. I do have both old and new game cards, as well as other miscellaneous merch, but they're not terribly interesting so I left them out. Is anybody young enough to remember Bakugan? If it's not wishful thinking, do you actually collect them? Please share, because I can't find anybody else!

Hello there!

I remember the show but wasn't too much interested in it. However, I really like that kind of egg/ball-shaped toys that can unfurl to become a little creature, so I liked Bakugan toys. As a kid, I only had Tigrera, and then gave it away to some kid. Now that Bakugan is back, I picked up Pegatrix, because of course

I remember my stepsons getting into these. I got them some for Christmas when they told me that's what they wanted, and I had no idea what they were. They were so excited showing me how they transformed into a ball and telling me about the game, and I remember thinking it was kind of cool. Wow, was that really pre-2012? Man, I'm getting old!

I had a little bit where I was into these! I ended up selling mine/giving them away a little bit ago but they were certainly fun to mess around with.

I still have mine! I never really set out to collect them all, I just thought the tv show was cool and liked the idea of a toy in a ball. I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to collect them now, but who knows what might happen?

I got Bakugan for Christmas a couple times myself! A lot of kids were into them back then, I remember most of my little friends had at least a few. I'm pretty sure one of them introduced the toys to me and that's how I'm enjoying them all these years later. I've probably known like, four or five girls who played with Bakugan throughout my life, but it's been ages. I wish I could find a dudette who's still into them... :snicker:

I HAD ZOOBLES TOO! :stunned:
I never liked them nearly as much, however. I probably had fifteen at most, and today I've only kept a few of my favorites. They actually made a couple Bakugan in the reboot heavily inspired by the Zoobles design, it's a funny reference! There's a cat called Ferascal, and a bear named Cubbo. I have Pyrus Ferascal.

Yeah I just noticed your Ferascal. If I saw one like that while thrifting I would have assumed it was a Zooble tbh. I also looked up Cubbo and that one is cute too. If I ever come across either I might have to add those.

I remember them being super popular when I was a kid.
Here you can still buy them at stores and the anime still plays on Disney DX.
I saw there was also a world's smallest made of them
