Hey all! The G4 Fashion Style Swap has been approved! Sign-ups will start on Friday, and pay attention to the dates - the times run a little longer now, since a few people were concerned. Hopefully this will change some minds.

Pay special attention to the class requirements when getting your form together! Standard vs. Epic doesn't necessarily mean Intermediate vs. Expert - it's about the level of work you're putting in to the pony and the complexity of the finished result. That said, I would encourage less-experienced customizers to use the Standard class, but if you can prove your mettle to me with examples of your work, we can definitely find you a place in that class. Advanced customizers can feel free to enter either category, as you know that it's about what you can handle at this time rather than what your abilities are.

As previously discussed, if finding baits is an issue, please let me know - I can definitely assist you in getting your hands on one. Also know that TRU currently has a few models in stock right now as well for a decent price.

Dates:
Sign-ups: May 18th-June 5th by 11:00 PM EST
Partners Assigned and Notified: By June 6th
Check-in 1: June 29th by 11:00 PM EST
Check-in 2 (Photo Check-in): July 18th by 11:00 PM EST
Check-in 3 (Photo Check-in): August 6th by 11:00 PM EST
Shipping Deadline: August 20th-27th (you must get approval before you ship!)

Rules:

1. You must be 16 years or older, as per Arena rules.
2. You must be an active member. I need to not have a problem getting a response from you via PM. This swap is open to members who have been here at least 3 months and have at least 100 posts.
3. You must be able to prove that you are reliable. You should be able to provide at least 5 feedbacks (8 for Epic Class), and your total feedback should be positive. At least one feedback needs to involve some sort of swap or trade. Feedback should come from the Arena or the TP (with at least one coming from the Arena); Ebay only works if you're stuck for one more piece of feedback.
4. You must have knowledge of customizing. Please be able to show me at least one example of a finished custom (three if entering Epic Class.)
5. You MUST ship on time. I understand that real life problems come up, but it is your responsibility to contact me so that I'm aware of the problem and so I can make arrangements.
5a. Proper shipping is your responsibility. Please package your customs very well. No colored tissue paper/newsprint which could rub off on the custom. Be especially careful if you have sculpted, as sculpted parts can break easily during shipping. Wrap them well and place paper or bubble wrap along all sides of the box, padding the item so that it doesn't move around the box.
6. Keep your partner a secret! Don't tell anyone and risk spoiling the surprise. You don't know who talks to who, so please don't tell anyone, even your bff.
7. If you do not check in, you cannot send or receive a pony.
8. Extras are not mandatory, but as this is a swap, you're definitely allowed to include them, and often people do expect them. Just remember that in all cases, the pony should be the centerpiece.
9. You cannot switch classes after you have signed up. If you sign up for Epic Class and there is a concern that you may not be able to complete a custom that meets those requirements, the swap hosts may, at their discretion, switch you to Standard Class.

Class Expectations

Standard Class - You should be entering this class if your plans for your FS bait include a rehair w/styling, a paint job, in additon to some minor details/embellishments (minor sculpting included, like detail sculpting.) This class requires 5 feedbacks and proof of one completed custom.

Epic Class - Those who enter this class are expected to go beyond the average custom. This may include: major sculpting (ie. large wings, clothing), reposing/engineering a pose (including merponies), drastic hair techniques (ie. dyeing gradients, extreme amounts of hair, etc), clothing sewn or sculpted on the pony, very intricate paint work, flutter/fairy wings, and anything else that goes well above and beyond the original call. You do not have to do all of these things. Doing one of them is enough to qualify you. This class requires 8 feedbacks and proof of three completed customs.

hmmm I might be game for this, the larger models sure allow a lot of room for epicness. Anyone know how many normal hanks of hair these take per chance?

I would love to try this:) I've never used a g4 before and I just acquired a rather baity princess luna that I was planning to customise. Also, echoing Lilacamy here, how many hair hanks do you think it would take?

That's a great question. I've only done them using multiple colors and not just one, but to be safe I'd go ahead and get more than one hank of hair. (I also make my ponies with very long hair, so your mileage may vary.) If just using one color, I wouldn't imagine it'd take more than 1 1/3 hank.

So many super swaps! This one sounds awesome. I love to do a fashion style pony but I doubt I could commit to something like this right now

Ooooh, too bad I'm retired, I'd be so in!!! Should I make a comeback for this swap?

I would calculate 3-5 hanks of hair depending on length etc.

And you're right Hanna ... 3 hanks. I was still banking on using two to three colors in my estimate.
