Pony Corral / Re: Who is the best 90's BABY pony set?
« on: September 27, 2022, 09:29:55 AM »
I almost voted for Baby Sparkle Ponies, I have the complete set and love them. However, I find their inexplicably recycled names annoying! Why couldn't Europe share theirs?! :pout: Otherwise, in all sincerity, I think the Baby Rainbow Ponies are slightly cooler. I only have Baby Rainribbon... for now.

That's incredible! I never would've expected such a bizarre and obscure pick for the next release! I honestly don't think we could've gotten another set better than Celestial Ponies. You can say reproductions of Sea Ponies, Big Brothers, etc. would be awesome. I mean sure, but c'mon, revitalizing four completely scrapped ponies from 30+ years ago is unbelievable. It's salvaging a little piece of production history!

Pony Corral / Re: Who was the very first G3 you ever bought?
« on: September 22, 2021, 03:58:32 PM »
My first true G3 My Little Pony was Starsong. I received the Kohl's exclusive Ponyville Adventure board game as a Christmas gift way back in 2008, but that's it beforehand. I bought this Starsong off eBay in May 2019, because I was beginning to consider adding G3 ponies to my previously G1 exclusive collection. I don't like her pose too much, but she's pretty otherwise and did indeed convince me to start buying them!

Customs / Re: G1 to G2 Sparkle Ponies

These are freaking immaculate, I love how accurately recreated everything is from the originals! :thumb: I don't collect G2 whatsoever, but I'd still be glad to own them considering Sparkle Ponies are one of my favorite sets! You applied glitter and rooted their tinsel in very well especially.

Arts & Crafts Corral / Re: I Tried G3's Promotional Art Style

Thanks a bunch to everybody for the artistic compliments, I appreciate them all! I'm glad I could faithfully replicate such a gorgeous, nostalgic art style. G3 had the most consistently beautiful artwork of any MLP generation, in my opinion!

I know there was a drawing meme on Deviantart where you drew your pony OC in your own style, and then in the style of each of the generations. You should try it sometime!
I haven't created any pony OCs in years I'm afraid, but perhaps using January Joy or another canonical pony I like for that multi-generational style challenge could be fun! Thanks for your suggestion ^.^

Adoptables / Re: MLP 'n Friends Style Adopts - Open!

You replicated every trait of the cartoon's style very well, this looks excellent! I may have to request something for myself soon, although I don't have any ideas quite yet :P I'll reply an update if I think of anything, and there's still the opportunity available. Oh, I just noticed too... Did you forget Quarterback's symbol in his example?

Pony Corral / Re: First look at Basic Fun Twinkle-Eyed!!!
« on: August 23, 2021, 06:05:19 PM »
Those four look absolutely stunning!! :iconclap: The faithful accuracy of these toys never disappoints. I'm definitely going for Sweet Stuff and Gingerbread, because I don't have their original counterparts yet.
Although, I'm still disappointed I never found the second earth pony set upon release. I don't even believe Target will be carrying MLP reproductions anymore... I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for alterative stores or online websites, perhaps including the one linked here? I certainly hope prices won't be too outrageous in comparison to the past, but we'll see. Regardless, what a truly awesome set of TE ponies!

Pony Corral / Re: Ponies you didn't like until you saw them in person?
« on: August 18, 2021, 09:34:51 PM »
When I initially began collecting vintage MLP, I thought all of the Twinkle Eye Ponies had quite unsettling and weird designs. The entire set of gemstone eyes seemed bizarre and didn't appeal to me, I remember finding red-eyed Galaxy a bit creepy in particular. I'd probably never buy any of them, right?
However, when I saw a $10 eBay listing of G1 Masquerade in good condition (I'll miss those low prices), I couldn't resist purchasing and wanted her for myself. She single-handedly won me over on TE Ponies with her overall interesting design! I loved the striking greenish-blue colors of her hair, and those shiny eyes were really neat up close.

Today, I own seven TE Ponies and want every single one someday, I understand why they're so popular! It's also ironic how Galaxy became my second favorite from the set after I collected her... My top favorite is actually red-eyed Locket, she's even one of the most beloved ponies I have right now. :snicker:

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 8/17/2021 Forget-me-not
« on: August 17, 2021, 05:11:49 PM »
G1 Forget-Me-Not was my first Flutter Pony, and she's quite lovely! I bought her and a separate pair of custom replacement wings off eBay a couple years ago. Those are decent quality, crafted from transparent plastic with imbedded glitter by some random seller.
This pony herself had very dry hair before a relatively successful flat iron treatment, and there's one smudged flower on the DS. Otherwise, she's practically spotless and in pretty great shape! I won't consider the commonly missing original wings, and rate her condition a solid 8/10.

Arts & Crafts Corral / I Tried G3's Promotional Art Style
« on: August 14, 2021, 05:11:37 PM »
I was once "famous" in a small cartoon fandom for accurately drawing with the show's distinct style. This was a couple years ago now, but could the observational skills I learned help me replicate other styles as well? I closely inspected several references of G3's promotional art, and tried implementing every visual detail to draw January Joy authentically.

It's not immaculate and my posing choice wasn't too adventurous, but I'm fairly satisfied otherwise! The toughest points were shading her body, and the hat's fringe for her symbol. I seriously neglected finishing this artwork for months due to a party hat. :P Regardless, attempting an unfamiliar style with January Joy was fun and will be my MLP Arena icon for a while!

Pony Corral / Re: First So-Soft Obtained-need cleaning advice!
« on: August 04, 2021, 10:55:10 PM »
I personally start by washing their bodies in cool water. Once they're soaked, I gently lather conditioner over their body with my hands. I'll completely rinse the conditioner out after letting them sit a couple minutes. SS Paradise was my first cleaning, and I preserved her near-mint flocking with this process.

I can't vouch for whether it's safe to use dish soap, but I've found those other cleaning concerns aren't accurate.
Firstly, I'm almost positive a careful toothbrush scrubbing wouldn't damage flocking at all, especially one with softer bristles. When I deflocked Lofty, despite her numerous thinning and bald patches, that remaining fuzz was extremely stubborn to remove! Secondly, I definitely don't recommend hot water, since it's literally used for deflocking SS ponies. However, lukewarm water or cooler probably won't do anything if you clean gently.

SS ponies aren't too difficult to clean once you try. Good luck! ^.^

Pony Corral / Re: Different Tinsel On Mane and Tail?
« on: July 03, 2021, 05:27:37 PM »
I know there's tinsel variants in some Sparkle Ponies where they'll either be entirely silver, or entirely gold. However, I've never seen a tinsel difference just between the mane and tail. I checked my own Sunspot, she seems to be just all gold, and I don't believe the rest of my Sparkle Ponies are mismatched either.

Pony Corral / Re: What are you doing with your ponies right now?
« on: June 26, 2021, 12:54:35 PM »
My whole collection sits just across my bedroom desk. It's nice, because whenever I'm writing a story or drawing, I can rest my eyes a moment and look at all the colorful, well-organized ponies.
:relaxed:
I'll often take any 2-3 ponies to keep on my desk temporarily. I might grab Dancing Butterflies because I admire her bright yellow, or Cloud Climber because I remembered how much I like her name, it depends on the day. I also gently "fidget" with them, like stroking their hair or rubbing their smooth vinyl. Today, January Joy is on my desk because I need her for art reference, alongside Meadowbrook.

Introductions / Re: introducing myself >:)
« on: June 24, 2021, 10:13:05 PM »
Welcome to the Arena, nice to meet you! It's always great to encounter somebody who's around my age. I currently collect G3 MLP myself, as well as G1. I hope we'll get to see your ponies soon.
