I would be inclined to keep them just in case of future regrets. Early on in my collecting days, when G1s were plentiful in thrift stores, I had the Colorswirl ponies and quite a few Sweetheart Sisters. I ended up moving and in the purge before I moved, I donated the Colorswirls, SHS and Pony Bride because I didn't like them as much as the "classic" MLPs! I didn't regret it too much until I got heavily back into collecting about 3 years ago. I finally got all of the Colorswirls back this year (15 years later) and it certainly cost me more than the thrift store ones! As much as I still love the early MLPs, I have come to appreciate the gimmicky and strange ponies from the later years (except the BBEs - I have them but I just can't bring myself to like them - even the one my best friend gave me from her childhood). I wouldn't feel selfish about keeping them "just in case" either. You aren't hurting anyone by keeping your rare ponies (as much as I'd love to know who we are talking about )!

The Sweet Talking ponies! I was rearranging my collection the other day and noticed for the first time how many eyelashes they have! They are so cute even if they aren't my faves! I love going through my collection, I always seem to find something I hadn't noticed before!

Congratulations on your milestone and what an awesome pony to have be your 300th! I love the picture that you posted and you can see how much you loved Shady back then because she's a cheerleading princess of awesome! I wish I had pictures of me with my ponies. I am sorry you no longer have your childhood Shady, the part about her being your loyal friend almost made me tear up Enjoy your lovely new Shady!

There normally aren't duties on many things but all items through the GSP get duties and handling fees added to the price. Ebay and Pitney Bowes have created an unnecessary middleman and a way for them to get more $$$.
I'd rather have a box valued at $100 go through customs and take my chances as to whether I get charged extra or not. In Canada it is the luck of the draw for which parcels get chosen to have customs charges added to them.

I would call eBay. If the auction is part of the Global Shipping Program there are import fees on top of the shipping charges. The buyer pays to have the item shipped to a warehouse in Kentucky where a courier then addresses the package to the destination country. The package is usually shipped by courier across the borders and then may or may not be shipped again with the destination country's postal service.
I don't know if the seller has access to any of the import charges etc to include on an invoice. I have only bought through the GSP once and it's not a great system, imo, so I wont sell using it.
If you wish to ship directly to the buyer, I believe it was possible and still may be. I will try to look up how to do it (possibly a bookmark, I will check). I have had one seller agree to do this but I'm only in Canada so the perceived risk is lower.

^ Agreed! Any trades that I have done are with ponies of approximately equal value and each person pays to ship their side of the trade. Any differences in shipping are made up by the person who will receive that package (money or equal amount of pony value ). I've never heard of anyone doing any differently besides new traders who might ship out their side of the trade first and then when that package shows up, the other person ships their end of the trade. I'm curious, did they want you to pay their shipping AND your shipping charges?

I knew there was another difference! I didn't even look when I had them out I thought it had something to do with the width of the bases

For adult ponies, Gusty pose is my absolute favourite! I think its sweet and elegant at the same time. My favourite baby pose is Baby Cotton Candys pose. There's just something so cute about the silhouette of their cheeks! And when you look at their faces looking up at you...
