The Arena recently got this email (redacted for privacy):

--- Quote ---Good Day,

I am a 65 year old widowed man living in south central Pennsylvania.  My wife was an avid collector of My Little Pony Merchandise starting in the 80s until her death in 2010.   I have probably around a dozen large plastic crates containing MLPs, many still in their original packaging that I want to sell.  There are Ponies, plushies, sewing machines, furnitures, pieces, MLP friends, etc.  A few of the pieces I have bothered to look up appear to be quite valuable to collectors but I have limited sight and limited technical patience and don’t want to spend five years doing e-bay auctions to accomplish my goal of of downsizing this store.

I would like to donate 80% of the proceeds to a Children's Cancer Treatment Center, possibly John Hopkins but I will do some further research on the charity.  I was wondering if you could offer any advice on how I could go about getting rid of this without getting ripped off, as it does represent a large investment of my wife’s time and our money and I would like the proceeds to really go to a cause that would have made given her joy.

I am around 10 miles south of *withheld*, Pa.  Is there maybe someone knowledgeable in the area that could come and evaluate what I have and maybe advise me in arranging a charity auction, either live or online?  I’m retired and would be willing to travel and transport the collection if it would result in a sizable donation to a children’s charity in her name.  I’d like to recoup just my expenses in this endeavor and give the rest in her memory. We were married for 34 years and she was the kindest and most giving person I have ever known.
I still mourn her daily.  She would love her MLPs to be enjoyed and would love to know that children benefitted from that enjoyment.

Thank you so much.  This has been a burden to me for twelve years because I do not want to throw away anything that was so important to her or undervalue it.

It's such a sad story, but I hope that someone in the local area can help him out and make sure it's done the way he wants it to be.
