Starting - Mack #52 Bears Commission
« on: May 01, 2022, 05:38:46 PM »
Hello Yes I know I'm in the middle of 4 Speed but I think I want to start dismantling my bait while 4Speed dries and stuff. I think I have to put another coat on him not sure, anyways this thread is about Mack from the Bears My Cousin Commissioned him so I'm getting a head start on him.
so this Bait Rarity I had lying around looks really good for a football player. she has her leg in a kick mold or you can say "can hold the ball" sort to speak so I chose this Rarity + My cousin said Unicorn in G4 Pose so that makes the most since.

I took off her head with real ease but that thing in between her body and neck line (I think I used an exato Knife last time to get it out) but this time I used a regular Knife with a very sharp tip. Ok Not the smartst thing to do when there is nobody home.  :lookround: but I was desperate and I wanted to try it out and Try it out I did, not only did I destroy her neck line I ended up Cutting my thumb pretty good. (so I bandaged up my thumb my family is finally home now so I'll see if it stopped bleeding or not. So don't know if im going to the hospital to get stitches yet tonight or not) but anyways I now have to use the apoxie sculpt to make part of her neck again. its probably a good thing I took Clay sculpting class all years of school.  I know just the thing to fix her neck. so hopefully it will work with me and just mend-together. Poor girl She is looking at her body in the pic like "what did you do Starflashbaby"?!

Pics here....
https://photos.app.goo.gl/4ZpgTDApqsdL4pK79

has anyone else have problems with these middle things in the G4s probably not as badly as I did but how do you take it out?

Ouch!  I hope you’ve stopped bleeding and don’t need stitches!    :(

G4 neck plugs are AWFUL to get out!  The best way I’ve found is to start my boiling the whole pony which softens the plastic and makes the head easier to get off without breaking off the neck plug. Then boil some more to try loosening the glue, work at it a bit (carefully!!) with an xacto knife, boil some more, work at it some more, and so on until you manage to get it out.   But they are super difficult for sure.

Good luck fixing the neck!

That is genius! I LOVE IT! I'll have to invest into an exacto knife... the one I have is lost in the garage.
About my thumb, I didn't need stitches thankfully... but I did get into a lecture about using sharp objects when no body is home

Today He is orange but the paint is thin and the symbol & Eyes showed through... Rookie Mistake I guess I didn't Prep the Bait... I never had that thin of paint before I guess I know why you take off the eyes and symbols now before painting... :art: Restart Painting!

Good lessons! You are progressing in leaps and bounds.  I prefer many thin layers when painting so the thin paint is good!

The repair looks really good! Glad you could do it :)

And yep, thin layers aren't a bad thing. I don't typically remove eyes or symbols.

My cousin decided to surprise me and come down from Alaska in the next 3 weeks so I better Hustle on the pony Custom. :D I thought I had a little more time. My mom wants me to clean the house for my aunts party and I'm like when do I Customize??? So its a bit of a balancing act clean and do chores in the morning Customize at night.

His #2 will be touched up with some orange paint as well I think or should I leave it alone risking I might ruin the symbol???

I think if you're careful and use a small brush you can do it. If you'd rather not risk it, then leave it. It doesn't look bad but I can see where it needs touching up.

His expression!  He is coming along great!  I try to learn something (usually not on purpose) every time I make a pony.  Thank you for teaching me how to repair those delicate neck areas when they are damaged.

I'm with BC on the additional layer of paint.  He works well without it but it depends on if it's going to leave you satisfied.  We are all our own critics.

Thank you soo much Colorscapesart & BC!!!!!
I tried with a small paint brush but then it looked worse than before because the black lines were gone so I'm redoing it on that side just a little Setback but its all good.
Right now I'm Waiting for the Decal 52 to dry and place on the pony, Paint a coat of Matte Finish over the 52 & i'm starting the rehairing process now! Hopfully he will be done by tomorrow. make tail, put tail in its place & Glue the head on. I think I can do it all if I don't stop....
