Do you live where it snows?
« on: January 04, 2022, 08:17:54 AM »
I grew up in Wisconsin where we had four distinct seasons and winter was always accompanied by snow. I've shoveled a lot in the past! In fact, the last year I lived there we had one of the worst blizzards in years. I have old photos of giant icicles on the side of the house, and huge mounds of snow.

Then I lived in South Carolina for a bit. It snowed twice, but it wasn't much more than an inch. They didn't know how to handle it though and everything shut down.

I've lived in Florida since and I'm far enough south that it never snows. It will however, get cold enough to see your breath. That's happened a few times, usually in February is when we get the coldest.

I miss the snow sometimes, but I wouldn't want to shovel again :P

Not as often as it used to, thanks to the global warming.

Yep, I'm in Wisconsin. It's been mild so far this year; it only just snowed for the first time this past weekend. It has gotten really cold though...single digits the last couple of mornings.

I used to live on the west side of Michigan, and we got tons more snow there. The temps were milder though.

I do, and we've only had flurries so far this year! I would really love to move up north and have stronger winters and cooler summers.

We have snow, and lots of it here in Edmonton. We are also having weeks of -30 or below weather, so the streets aren’t being cleared either. Which is silly, because that’s what we pay the city to do, and garbage collection is still going despite the cold. You’re all welcome to come over and grab a shovel if you want in on the snow shovelling fun!

I live in the South central US. Historically, we have gotten snow, but it wasn't a season wide phenomenon. Nowadays, snow more than a dusting or an inch is a rarity, thanks to global warming. =/

In the 2000s and before, we'd get at least one storm each winter where we get 6 inches plus. That changed suddenly in the 2010s, where it turned into dustings most year.

It doesn't usually stick around for long, but we do usually get a little bit of snow at least once a year.

I'm on the coast so not really. It has a few rare times, but since I hardly go out unless I have to, especially with COVID, I don't see it much

Where i grew up on the coast it doesn't snow much. if it does snow its just dustings or light flurries. and it doesn't usually stick.

now i live further inland and it does get much colder and it snows a little more. but typically not much. though the last few winters have had some snow. last year it actually snowed twice. it was a mess and we had a big statewide power and water outage. also over 200 people died. so i'm no longer hoping for snow here in Texas. climate change is weird. it gets hotter and colder than normal.

this year so far it's been below freezing a couple of times but usually Jan & Feb are the coldest. I really want to visit a place where it snows and the infrastructure can handle it. It's beautiful but we can't handle it here.

I don't live far from Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.  Each year we flirt with flurries or sleet that may or may not materialize.  Some years we may get a few inches snow.  We did have an ice storm many, many years ago where we lost power for seven days.

I'm on the Australian Coast so no snow here. I've always wanted to see it though.

It only has a good little bit of snow every other year or so around January/February in SC so every now and then I get it around my birthday! (I love snow!) But unfortunately, for the most part, no snow, just random warm days in winter here like we had a few days ago :p

It's snowing now.  I would like to move someplace that doesn't snow as much but then my parents worry about tornados and hurricanes whenever I suggest somewhere to go to.  So until I decide what I want to deal with, I'm stuck with snow and wondering if I'm going to be snowed in.  But it's supposed to be in the mid 30's F this week so most of what we'll get will at least not be as likely to stick to the roads.

Calgary gets lots of snow... right now it's -30 something... if your body parts are exposed for more than 2 minutes, they do start to freeze and you can get damage in less than 5 minutes.
