Welcome back to our annual Halloween colouring and drawing contest! Grab your pencils and your paints, or your pads and phones and tablets! Time to show off your creative skills! :art:
We have two divisions to choose from:
Division 1: Draw your own
This is where you get to show off all your creative skills! Design and draw your own Halloween pony from scratch. You may add a background but it is not required. Traditional/digital/mixed media, the choice is yours. No copied/traced lineart allowed, all work must be original.* Original designs only (no Hasbro characters) and no anthro/humanoid ponies, please.
*Textures, brushes and similar resources are allowed but these may only be used in a minor role, and no readymade backgrounds may be used. Please make sure that you have the permission to use any resources which are not made by you.
Division 2: Colour our lineart
Just what it says, you colour our lineart. Traditional/digital/mixed media, the choice is yours. The only rules: no Hasbro ponies, and no altering the lineart please – our talented Art Mod Shaiyeh has once again worked hard to offer you an amazing picture to colour!

If you need a different file format, please PM ColoringContest with your email address and it can be emailed to you. We have a psd file for those who wish to use Photoshop.
Please read the directions carefully:
* You must be an active Arena member to enter. By active we mean that you have recent posts and are not here only for the contest. Active newbies are welcome to enter, of course!
* Do not upload your entry online for public view till after the winners are announced. This is to make sure that all entries stay anonymous for judging. After the judging you are free to start a thread to show off your work, or post it on social media or any other websites you like.
* All entries are to be PMed to ColoringContest. If you have issues hosting your photos privately, entries can also be emailed – please PM the contest account for instructions. In addition to photo hosting sites, cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox work fine, for example. (Choose the setting ‘anyone with the link can view’, then PM the link to ColoringContest).
* Please indicate in the message title which division your entry is for.
* This year you may only enter ONE of the divisions. If you’d like to colour the lineart just for fun, feel free to do so! You may show off your work after the contest deadline has passed.
Deadline
Contest starts NOW! So get busy!
All entries are due by November 1st, 8 am EST (sorry, meant EDT obviously!).
Judging
Once again, the winners of the competition will be chosen by YOU the members! Keep an eye out for a voting thread after the deadline. The entries will be posted anonymously and all Arena members are eligible to vote.
:accomplished: We also have something new for you this year! In each Division, we will grant a Mods’ Choice award after the voting is over. The Mods’ Choice winner cannot be the same as the winner of the popular vote.
Prizes!
The winners of the competition and of the Mods’ Choice will get to choose from the following pool of prizes donated by our Mod Team:
- G5 merch pack donated by tailrustedtealeaf – ships from the US
- Hidden Dissectibles figures donated by tailrustedtealeaf – ships from the US
- G4 surprise toy donated by Loa [to be confirmed] – ships from NZ
- simple digital pony art piece donated by tailrustedtealeaf (FiM style custom screenshot)
- simple digital or traditional pony art piece donated by Griffin (your choice, e.g. a set of ATCs, ref sheet, etc...) – ships from Finland/EU, if applicable
- simple MLP custom donated by Griffin (a variety of gens available; includes repaint + rehair in 1-2 colours, Hasbro style or other simple symbol/s) – ships from Finland/EU
Due to the increasing complexities with international shipping, we offer a selection of both digital and physical prizes. Winners will get further instructions about prizes and shipping, but if you have any questions or concerns before entering, please PM ColoringContest!

I do have a question, for the first division can we do it in the style of Hasbro's ponies? What I mean is: can I create my own unique character, but draw the character in, say, G3 animated style or G1 comic style or the like?

Yes absolutely! You can draw in any style, as long as it's not traced or a direct copy. :)
