Is their other ways to change a pony’s hair color
« on: May 23, 2021, 12:50:34 PM »
I’m still very new to customizing and I don’t have tools to re hair or stuff to dye the hair. I usually color the hair with a marker on ponies with lighter hair colors. But this one pony I’m working on won’t work with markers because her hair is dark purple. Is there anything else I could use.

Markers aren't ideal to color hair. The ink can easily stain the pony. For lighter hair you can use Rit dye to color it. Turning dark hair lighter can be done by sunfading, but not all colors respond the same way and sometimes it will only bleach out one component of the color so you're left with something you don't expect.

I suggest getting some genuine supplies :) A little bit of hair to practice with first would be good. You can look into different rehair methods and see what you'd like to try. I started with the needle and thread method, but now I use a rehair tool. If you want to practice with dye, get some white hair and try the powders, they're cheap :)

I didn’t think markers were good to use but it was my only choice since I had nothing else. Also I did see how easily marker comes off with water. I don’t know if different things work for different generations since I’m using g4 ponies to customize.

Unfortunately there is no way to recolor dark hair without simply rehairing it.
You can do rehairing at home with yarn or embroidery floss without having to purchase online items. :) If you live near a sewing supplies store, you can purchase "doll needles" and rehair with those, or cut the eye of the needle in half carefully. There are tutorials to make your own rehair tool online...and there's always the floss method.

I don’t think I own yarn and I don’t live near a sewing store. But there is some craft stores I could go to.
