Rit was a wash? How do I dye?
« on: March 25, 2021, 02:45:36 PM »
Just tried dying this absolutely lovely blankie and was met with complete failure. Just trying to figure out where I went wrong? I used powder rit dye, heated it, added vinegar and some dish soap, and i could tell immediately that it was only dying the hair. I took it off the heat after a while because i figured shed need to soak for quite a bit longer than I could stir for, so I took it off the heat after about 20 minutes so she could soak without melting. Over an hour later and shes still snow white.

What did I do wrong?

Rit Dyemore is made specifically for plastics! You'll have much more luck getting it to take than classic Rit, which is what it sounds like you were using.
