I got the next 2 volumes of Takane & Hana as the last 2 volumes of Fruits Basket were sold out.

I just finished volume 8 of the omnibus Fruits Basket

Spoiler

Now I know the whole story about the hat.  :) Although I'm a little confused why Kyoko would reveal so much to Kyo about her past life when Kyo was still a young boy unless there's some kind of connection between Kyo and Kyoko that hasn't been revealed yet

I'd forgotten about that. Yeah, it is kind of strange, lol.

Right now I'm reading/beginning too many manga at one time -- Komomo Confiserie, Yona of the Dawn, and (beginning) The Ancient Magus' Bride. Got some of these for $1 at my library's store

Yona!!! <3

I finally ordered Vol 29 of that from Amazon.jp. But I am still so desperate for them to animate beyond vol 8 because Zeno barely has a chance to appear and there's SO MUCH going on with that character it's a waste not to see any of it in motion. Sure, he has an OVA, but even so...

I still can't decide which character in Yona is my favourite, either. After 27 (still haven't read 28) volumes I keep switching depending on scenes. They're really well crafted characters albeit I am really worried something horribly tragic is going to end this series, given the way it began...

Spoiler
I have this really bad feeling the Dragons will die. There's not a great precedent for longevity in the Green, White and Blue dragon cases, while the Yellow Dragon is a completely different problem and somehow worse. I don't suppose Zeno can die, since he hasn't done so far - but I guess all bets are off in the long run.

But I really like how the manga has crafted the current incarnations of each Dragon, with their strengths and weaknesses and personality twitches.

I will probably be getting Yona soon :) It sounds really interesting.

I just finished Volume 9 of the omnibus edition of Fruits Basket. ( I think I've read through volume 18 of manga)

@Taffeta

Spoiler

Is the thing that you didn't want to spoil for me regarding Akito the fact that Akito is actually a female instead of male?

Yes. Yes it was. :D

I will be interested to hear your views on Yona if you decide to delve into it :D

Congrats lovesbabysquirmy. :)

@Taffeta

Spoiler
Knowing Akito is female puts a different perspective on why she acts the way she does to the other characters although I still think she is extremely cruel at times.

I picked up the first 3 volumes of Yona today.

Spoiler
I never liked Akito and never really thought her behaviour was justified. I mean, Yuki's basically traumatised by the way she treats him, and as for what happened to Hatori's eye...*shakes head*. The way that aspect of the plot ends up has always left me somewhat uncomfortable...some actions are not or should not be so easily forgiven, despite the core of the curse...

@Ponyfan, tempted to rewatch Yona after this discussion :) Although I am waiting for vol 29 to arrive first and finally I'll catch up with the story. Given the extremes this story often goes to, I do tend to worry a bit with each volume what might happen to them next XD. IMO the writer does a great way of developing characters in ways you don't expect.

Edit to add: Vol 29 arrived :D Now I just have to find 28 so I can catch up...and try to remember what happened last...

Have a feeling it was something to do with Jaeha...

Congrats lovesbabysqurimy. :)

@ Taffeta

Spoiler
I completely argree with you about Akito. I was shocked when I watched the anime and saw what Akito did to Hatori. And then seeing her blame Kana for it over and over until even Kana herself believed she was responsible. It seems Akito treats the other characters like toys that she can do what she wants with.

I'm leaning towards begining the Yona manga and watching the anime at the same time since the manga has so many volumes.

One of these days, I will re-read Furuba to the point where I can participate in the discussion.... lol
I am on like, volume 6, 7 of Red River at the moment.... but I have so little time to enjoy manga.
Uh in non-related manga, I did find my kid both of the hardcover Sailor Moon English storybooks they made back in the 90's DIC release at Value Village, paid like $1.49 a book.... wow

I usually buy a few volumes of a series and then put them on the shelf until I have time to enjoy them. After I finish Fruits Basket I want to start Takane and Hana. :) I think I will start  Yona after I finish the anime.

Those Sailor Moon storybooks sound really neat. :)

I saw manga in a charity shop here for the first time ever today (bear in mind the UK caught on to manga a bit slower than the US in general and where my parents live is about as backwards in catching on to anything as you can imagine for a place that actually has roads...)

I hadn't heard of any of the series (and I don't read English manga anyway) but it was kind of nice because they'd banded volumes together in sets so that you didn't get someone coming in and buying all the first volumes xD.
