I had to go to the social security office today about an income statement I forgot to submit for the last year, I was so scared I would be in trouble but they were very polite and it turned out it actually wasn't needed in my case

I always find really cute shirts that aren't in my size. I've lost count of how many times I've had to walk away from a shirt that I really wanted because it didn't fit. Over the weekend I was in Target and found a Sailor Moon shirt I could wear.

My husband's friends from church organised a surprise goodie-bag for home-schooling families on Valentines day, it was so sweet, the doorstep delivery consisted of home made bath fizzers, brownies, drinkie, toy bracelet for my kid, chocs, little scented candle and a bunch of daffs.

The buds of the daffs have opened up fully today and look so pretty and joyous!

Rainbows!

My great aunt passed away a couple of years ago and on the day of her funeral there were the most beautiful rainbows, it was like she was telling us she was fine and not to worry.
Last year, the day before her anniversary, we had beautiful rainbows again. Her anniversary is today and just now there was an amazing rainbow over the road, where you could see all seven colours.

It feels like she's telling us she's watching over us and to hang on in there.

I know this one may seem super trivial to others but for the past two or three years I've been working on a post-apocalyptic schizo-tech cyber/steam/diesel-punk fictional world that I use as an escape from reality and today after reading a random article on Wikipedia it turned out that such world could technically have its first artificial satellites a few decades earlier than I thought, which will undoubtedly make it even more fun to daydream about.

the sun is out and the ice is melting!

For anyone who lives in an area that normally gets very cold in the winter the weather we had in Texas this week is extremely unusual. people here prepare for hot weather, floods and hurricanes. but our infrastructure is not at all designed for extreme cold. our homes are not built to handle cold. the pipes are above ground and can freeze.

also the entire state was affected. and Texas is bigger than a lot of countries!

we have a lot of political issues here but there are a lot of people, myself included, who don't agree with the policies that our state leaders enact. we're just trying to survive and get back to normal

My dad got his COVID jab! I'm young and healthy, so it'll probaby be a while before I can do the same. But now, if I do end up catching the virus, at least I won't also be putting his life at risk. What a huge relief

I finally bought a USB extension cord so I could plug my Wacom tablet directly into the port on the back of my PC, instead of having to plug it into the front port each time and then keep the tablet on my lap (that stupid factory cable is so dang short), now it just rests behind the keyboard on the retractable tray, permanently plugged in, and I can just access it whenever I want.
