It probably won't be long before I'll post about it, haha. I will have to blurt it out eventually, and it's not like I can mention this to my family. XD

Sorry for the double post, but I have something to smile about! As of today, after 45 years, my father is officially a Dutch citizen! :D

Of course it could have been done earlier, but it's A LOT of hassle, and it's expensive. However, with the Brexit it became vital that they couldn't send him back to England, even after 45 years it could still happen. But now he's legally Dutch, and there will be no more stressful situations with residence permits!  :beerchug:

He will always be an English-/Irishman at heart though. :P

Kind of a silly one, but I've been playing a lot of Animal Crossing lately and I found Marina on one of the islands so she's now officially living on my island! I've never had an octopus villager before and she is so PINK

I remember when I was little and started with wild world, she was a villager I had in my town for a time! She’s one of my favourites!
In other news, the thing that made me smile today is that I ordered the supplies for a new doll-this time a gift for a friend. I’m still trying to figure out how to make the clothes, since I’m still new at it. But I’m so excited!

I don't consider myself a great artist but lately I've enjoyed drawing on the driveway with sidewalk chalk.

I had an hour long walk outside with our cat Ninja and when he felt it was time to go home he clearly showed that he wanted me to lift him up and carry him and he purred the entire way home. He's not one for contact and cuddles usually so it made my heart swell. When we got to the front door he of course didn't want the other cats to see him accept (and enjoy! the horror!) of being carried so he wanted to be let down and walk in on his own, king as he is. He's so funny

^ D'aww! :D Cats will be cats, haha!

As for me, I just discovered that the old Kommissar Rex episodes are on YouTube, with English subtitles! :missy: :cheer: I loved that show so much, we had it on video back in the day (with Dutch subtitles). It was already on YouTube a couple of years ago, but never with subtitles. And despite living super close to the German border I don't understand enough German to actually follow a show like that, and to be able to enjoy it at the same time. But now I can! :D

Cut my husband's hair with clippers today - my first time ever attempting it!

Turned out ok, I scored myself 7/10, so feel very satisfied!

Also - it took me 11 attempts yesterday to actually FIND any clippers at the stores I visited; I only got lucky when I visited a Boots store and the lady was just about to refill an empty shelf with the ONE clipper set she had in her cart.

Another good thing - these clippers were on offer at half price!

After a heavy day of work for him, I took us all out for an evening car drive via Windsor Castle, waiting on the road at Eton for the roaming cows to cross the road. Lovely cows!

Very little traffic, so it was a nice, calm trip and back home in good time, too.  :)

It's finally sunny out with NO WIND!  And I'm on holidays so I'm going out to enjoy it for the whole 12 minutes before my pasty white skin starts to burn

I got a new mattress set today.  I woke up this morning at 4 am so uncomfortable that I couldn't get back to sleep so my dad picked up the mattresses while he was out for me.  Now my bed is about six inches higher than it was before and I'm a little worried about falling off...

I think I may have just solved a genetic mystery in my family. You see, my sisters, myself, mom and poppy (her father) all have slightly curved index fingers. They just bend slightly inwards on each hand. It doesn’t affect our dexterity or anything, just the appearance. My father (and most other people I know) don’t seem to have this, so we have dubbed it “the Donnelly fingers”, after poppy’s family name. He actually checked at birth to see if we had them. But we’ve never been able to answer what it is. We knew it was genetic, but that’s about it.
If my reading and research is correct, we have an autosomal dominant trait known as “clinodactly”, manifesting as What seems to be an isolated anomaly (fancy way of saying it isn’t a sign of a larger issue). It doesn’t change anything, but the science nerd in me feels happy knowing the proper term for the condition, and what this means in terms of our genetic traits. Still going to call it Donnelly fingers though.  ;)
