Here's a couple photos of poor SS Cupcake with her blue sharpie marks. Her flocking was so bad when I got her that it basically just wiped off when I tried to clean her up, so she's basically deflocked now. At least she's still gorgeous. I seem to have not taken any photos of her marks after the flocking came off but the marks were very obvious.

The photo makes it looks like all the blue sharpie is gone but there is still a shadow. If you're wondering, the pony was wrapped with paper towel and then foil.

A while back I got a baby Honoloulou who'd been badly marked up by ballpoint pen. My usual methods did nothing, but the pen came almost clean off after i used clearisil and left her in the sun for a few hours. I'm not sure how well it would work on flocking, but maybe you could look it up or try?

Be careful when you do this - over the next ten years, that Clearisil will keep working into the plastic and lightening it!  Or browning it with white ponies...  Sunfading for several months is the best way to go with pen.

Oh and  telelle_wings, that Cupcake turned out so nicely!  Can we see her unwrapped and deflocked?

Unfortunately, I don't have several months worth of patience, so I guess I'll have to take that risk xD

Heh, well, she's currently still wrapped up and her head is kinda hanging out next to my desk. I want to give her a little more time to see if I can get the blue shadows to go away fully but here's a photo of her head. lololol I wasn't sure I was going to keep her or sell her so I haven't bothered cleaning up the residual glue, so that's what the yellow stuff is if it shows up in the photo. Otherwise she's just stunning, blush is lovely, and her hair is actually pretty nice once it was cleaned. The weird pink glow is from the lamp I was using to take the photo, so no, half of her face isn't all pink. :p

Oh, since I seem to be having good luck with the sharpie problem I'm thinking about putting Gypsy out there also to see if I can get these two little marks off. Is there anything special I should know about orange ponies or Gypsy specifically when sunfading?

Well, I decided to unwrap her and see how it looks in general. You encouraged me. :)

Anyway, this is how she currently looks:

Thank you! I think she's quite lovely so I'll probably keep her and see about removing the last layer of flocking glue. She does need a wee bit more sun to get the shadows out and I'll def. post a photo of her when she's totally finished. :)

I'm kinda getting addicted to this sun-fading thing. It requires very little effort.  Maybe I'll be more likely to buy ponies with ink and sharpie issues now.

In the end everyone can use their own preferred methods on their ponies but please never sell any that have had the same treatment without clearly stating what was done. :)

Bought an "amazing WJ". She was lovely, and did this on me within a couple weeks. :( Thanks for telling me you used remove-zit or acne cream seller.

it was.... less then stellar pony flipper. The white started as a line and slowly spread out. faint traces of a mark (red ballpoint I'm guessing), where the line started. She would have been a stunner otherwise, clean body, clean inside, factory seal, pink hair. I'd have rather had the mark!

:(

Remove zit is evil. I ll try just about on ponies I am keeping to experiment on but the one thing I would shout from the rooftops and tell people not to touch is benzyl peroxide.

I agree with FantasticFirefly, if you use any kind of chemical treatment, it really should be disclosed at the point of purchase.

Here is my group of ponies & kitties/puppies all sun bathing. On the right are the baby kitties and puppies as well as the adults & Cupcake's torso that got sharpied. There is also Butterscotch's torso and Masquerade's head - I'm attempting to fade them. Kinda morbid.

On the left I've got Masquerade's torso with a lovely pink highlighter line down half of her body (I think it's coming out), Gingerbread (yes you read that right, I am crazy but I check her everyday and she hasn't started to burn yet, I have another thread about sun-fading her as well as Cherry Treats), Merry Treat (somehow she got a couple large red ink smudged the size of my thumb on both of her sides and those are almost completely gone, and has a 'pink highlighter' mark, except I doubt that's highlighter and probably what? regrind? I have no idea), and finally Tuneful's head (attempting to fade).

I put them on things to keep them off of the very hot concrete.

I think Masquerade is rather creepy looking but I want to fix her up before I sell her. Here's what she looked like before I started sunfading her head and sunfading the mark off.

"Oh, I'm sorry, this isn't the exorcist?"

Yah, her pink marks are definitely coming out.

Sorry if this was already discussed but how do you remove the white out later?

Amazing progress btw, really looking forward to seeing them all done!
