South African Seashell Ebay UK Auction - possible scam
« on: January 27, 2014, 02:43:52 PM »
Hi all

Browsing eBay UK and I find a SA Seashell  But the member only has 2 feedbacks and the picture is pinched from a google search image.

I clicked on the original image and its from a foreign auction site, the words used in it are practically cut and pasted into the new ebay listing

I'm going to post this in TS but I thought id warn you guys on here aswell, who knows he may have a genuine one but I am dubious to say the least

The seller deals with stamps  A sought after MLP seems a touch random, not to mention the fact that you found that picture taken from another site/auction. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah my thoughts exactly, if they can take pics of their own stamps worth 0.99 then why not take your own of a rare pony? The one on the foreign auction site sold on the 9th of January and the winner is in Switzerland, I doubt very much that same pony has made it to this persons toy box in that time!

Report the item to eBay as a scam, because it's using someone else's photo and attempting to rip off customers.

Right, I've reported the auction, messaged the seller and acted uber-sweet at him for more photos. To see if he'll cough up said photos I DID just bid (full disclosure) just to see what happens. My bid is, what, £2? I suspect that auction will be pulled soon anyway so I don't have to care.

I have seen that auction, too. This picture doesn't belong to the seller nor does the pony on it. Dusky please keep us updated if you receive a reply from the seller.

HAHAHAHAHAH

Yeah, more photos, but asked me to send him the link to the PREVIOUS auction (the French one), so let's all guess where those photos are going to be from? What we need now is to make sure the extra photos from the actual auction are made public, here if possible?

Basically if we know what ALL the photos were from the last auction then any photos that are actually real will be easily spotted, and it lends more fire to reporting this auction as fake.

well i'll be amazed if they are the real deal

Interestingly the pics I found of the same pony (on a South African auction site) have vanished off google image search   I can't find them anywhere and they were there late last night.

Very strange.............

I have been Talking with the seller of the original auction and she told me that she didn't know about the listing on Ebay. She also told me she will check it out and get back to me later.

Apparently they have ended the auction as they received too many questions it was confusing and they will re list once they have done more research as they didn't realise it was such a sought after pony....well the saga continues lol

The original seller who is located in South africa asked me to report the listing to ebay because she doesn't have an Ebay account. She Reported it to the south african auction site where the pony was sold.

aaah that explains why the original pictures are no longer available, im glad it got reported, picture theft is one thing but with such a desirable pony it really takes the biscuit
