The Re-Flocking Project
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:19:28 AM »
This year I will be working on a project I have wanted to do for a long time now. I am going to take all the flocking craft supplies I can find and try different techniques with different glues, etc. I want to find the best way to replicate "factory" So-Soft flocking.

If anyone has experience with this, please post!

If you know of any good products to use, please post

I want to hear both positive and negative experiences with re-flocking so maybe I can avoid some things ;)

This is more for Restoration purposes  (G1 so softs)

I think a product called Fun Flock is what is commonly used. I've never flocked a pony before, but we have quite a few members who have. I'm sure they'll be along soon.

This is my SS Dancing Butterflies. I used mod podge (matte) and Hobby Line's "sam puder" flocking, this is not like factory so soft -flocking, but it is nice anyway.  :)

i miss rowdy cowgirl. she made some fantastic so softs. i happen to own a mcd pony she made for me from a swap.

i have made a few so softs, using white flock, havent used colored flock yet. its a messy process with the glue and the excess flock.

I found this thread at MLPTP featuring a So Soft Baby Bouncy by Wysteria.  I'm not sure if she's over here too.

Hope it helps!

I think the only way to get a true replication of a so-soft would be to use something like static flock - commonly used in model landscapes - that uses a static charge during application to get short flocking fibers to stand on end. I can't imagine that would be an easy task on a pony XD but plain old craft flocking powder can make a pretty good looking pony :)

She's SO ADORABLE!!! I love her!!! Did you rehair her as well? She looks like she has a paler yellow hair. She's quite gorgeous with the pale locks and it goes really well with her flocked body.

Thank you for your nice comments!

She is rehair, yes. I used Dollyhair's Lemonade for her. :D

Here is a picture of her without flocking with Lemonade hair. It looks quite nice without flocking too.  :)
