Hiya, here's what I did with mine:
Use a blunt veg knife and slowly and carefully remove the head
Use pliers or tweezers to reach far inside the seapony and pull the weight out (this will be very slow and awkward!)
Remove the glue lump (it'll be quite easy)
Wash the weight (I use Jif cleaning) until completely rust free
Clean the interior of the seapony with Jif until clean with a toothbrush
Wait for the weight to dry (24 hours on the safe side)
replace.

This has always worked perfectly for mine and they are all nice and clean :)

If you are not clear about the method here is a site with images:

Yup!  Icecrystalline beat me to it - I always use Whizzer19's "Sea Pony Utopia" for anything sea pony related.  The best site I've ever come across! :lovey:

I just removed the weights from sea ponies last night.  I just heated up the tails with hot water to make the plastic soft and then just pushed on the tails to pop the weights out.  It only took a few seconds to do both ponies after I took the heads off.

I didn't know it was so difficult to get them out XD I've only removed one and it was a rusty nightmare!!! It pretty much fell out on it's own after I took the head off. I guess it must have been pretty far gone lol.
If you haven't received feedback from me, give me a nudge!

I tried this but it dented the plastic on the tails, it can damage them, but it can also work, it's risky but can be worth it :) x

Please and thank you very much everypony.

I tried the tongue twister, but I've had two beers tonight so that's a lost cause.

Those pesky weights! I've only had to remove one weight for cleaning purposes (for Sealight) and it wasn't too hard to wedge it out of there. I agree with the hot water idea; just be careful not to force it too much.

I've done quite a few seapony rust removals :P  not pretty!! :yikes:  I use the heating the tail and pushing method, and also the pliers, and havent had much problem using either. It does depend on how bad the weight has rusted as to how easy it is to remove though ;)
here are a few piccies to get ya in the mood :silly:

I cleaned up the rust using toothpaste. The weight was very bad so i got my FIL to use one of his machines to file the rust off and it was still good underneath - I dont have a pic though - it went back into the pony

I have been working on the same thing. One the weight came out on its own and the other is still wedged in. I am going to have to work at it some more.

I had mentioned this in the shout box... My 11 year old saw me removing sea pony heads and said Eww My little nasty pony! LOL

I put mine back in :) Clean 'em off nicely and let them dry thoroughly, they stand up better with their weights in :) xxx
