RIP Horseland
« on: July 20, 2019, 08:59:04 PM »
The Horseland MMO game has been retired: https://www.horseland.com/

That was one of the first games I got into when I first got a computer in 2006. Played both the original and junior accounts, then just the original after jr. was retired (liked playing the jr more than the original). when they changed the coin system and made everything more expensive, and harder to get coins, I lost interest in it. I would check in every so often. Just tried it and saw the message.

I also watched the cartoon, and have both sets of the horse figures.

Wow. That sucks. I never played the game or really got into anything, but episodes do occasionally pop up in my recommended section, and watched a few. Not half bad!

Did Horseland used to be a text-based game where you could upload photos for your horses? I played a game like that obsessively when I was a kid. I thought it was called Horseland but I can't remember.

Aw </3 I have many fond memories of Horseland. My sister and I used to play it all the time when we were little. RIP!

That was 'Howrse', I believe.

Yes you could upload pic's of your horses, or even art of one. As you can imagine there were quite a few MLP ones at one point. I had a unicorn named Glory and used my art of her as a G4. Also had Octavia.  :P

That was 'Howrse', I believe.

It was not Howrse, the horses had a visual interface and menus for interactions. But it's true you can personalize your horse with items that would change its looks. You could also create designs and make them available for every other players.

Yeah, I don't think it was Howrse. And this was back when I was in middle school, like maybe around 2003 to 2006. It was a loooooong time ago haha.

My sister used to play some kind of online horse game. I tried to get her to play Pony Island but she refused.

Oh man I didn't even know Horseland HAD an online came! Me and my online friend were big fans of Horseland and Dino Squad (both cartoons made by the same people, I believe) years ago and we still like fondly reminising. I remember once for my birthday she even bought me the box set of all the Horseland cartoons. It was really a great show! I'm actually surprised this online game lasted so long after the show stopped making new episodes. It's a shame, but it sounds like it was a successful game for a long time! I'm sad I learned about it after it closed.
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!
