Yeah, they're all wonderful! I say Garnet's my favorite, but I feel a little bad to even pick a favorite because I love them all and they all get such wonderful development!

Yeah right? I think this cartoon is making a big positive change. We've got three female main characters and two chubby main charas. Even the secondary charas get some nice development. I like that Steven's father is not just another "bumbling dad" and tries to be useful to the group even if he doesn't like "magic" stuff that much.

Yes, Greg is wonderful! He doesn't know much about the magic side of things, but he's still involved and supportive, even if his own life seems to be a bit of a mess.

I feel like this is really the first time I can watch a show without the background concern that they're going to just fall into the usual stereotypes and "default" portrayals. Everything about the characters and their interactions seems so carefully thought out and intentional.

Greg is such an important example of a responsible parent who may not be able to have custody of his kid(s).

Hey, who can blame him? Steven isn't really THAT human if you think about it. It'd be near impossible for Greg to have full responsibility
of him, given all the missions and blooming powers and other gem stuff going on right now. He knows that the best place for Steven to live is with the Crystal Gems. But that doesn't mean he isn't still an important part of Steven's life!

He's still there to escort friends to and from the home (read: Connie), they frequently hang out together to just have fun, and Greg can even be an important disciplinarian in Steven's life! Even though he's struggling to have a home and doesn't have a lot of money, he's still a great dad and I just love that so so so much.

I saw one episode of it a while ago, and I liked it. I considered getting into it, but I'm a bit turned off due to the fandom.

Yeah, I know, the fandom can get pretty nasty sometimes :/ I was really dissapointed with the big fuss they made about the Uncle Grandpa crossover. The best fandoms start to rot soon.

Sometimes you just have to ignore the fandom as best you can.  Don't let fans of the show ruin the show for you. ;)

I started watching this show- and the first few episodes seemed very light and humorous (like Adventure time which I can take in small doses only) but maybe somewhat less "loud" ....  but then as you watch the episodes, it becomes clear that the beginning episodes are just background for the REAL STORY --   honestly I love this show SO MUCH!  I think it is so much better than Adventure Time or MLP:FIM.

Not only is the storyline cohesive and clever-  the characters are AWESOME!  Garnet is my all time favorite- but I love all of the Gems, even neurotic Pearl     I also LOVE Lion, and Connie!  I also love that they have different body shapes and even more rare- actual brown people who are not just background characters!  Oh- and I love that the show was created by a female-  Rebecca Sugar.  And I love her name :D I think the only show I didn't love was the Uncle Grandpa one- which was so random and I hated that character.  I am not familiar with that cartoon so I was like "WTF is going on ?"

The fandom did make me apprehensive at first, especially when it looked like one of the less desirable Brony factions was going to try and take over-  but that seems to have dried up.

My only complaint is that there is no toys!  I really would love a set of Steven Universe figures...

I just read that the "hiatus" ends June 15th!  So happy to hear that!!!  http://rebeccasugar.tumblr.com/

I started laughing at this when I saw this on tumblr, it's a show geared for all genders and "men" "WE WOULD LIKE TO SHOW OUR INTEREST IN THIS SHOW AND GIVE OUR GROUP A NAME TO GO BY"  :haha: like you watch sparkly talking horses I don't think you need to have a group for a genderless specific show (even though FIM is how I got into MLP  :ninja: )

^This!! There needs to be more merch! I'd love to be able to support the show.

Eee I'm so excited for the 15th! I've asked my friend to come and stay that week so we can watch all the new episodes together!

It's one of my favorite Cartoon Network shows! I love the animation and the story lines. It has a perfect mix of darkness and humor that used to be in cartoons in the 80's and 90's. I love that it is also created by a woman. It's the type of tone for a show I would love for my own one day.
