Chicago peeps! Thoughts on Uber for transportation?

Hi Chicago ponies!  I'm trying to plan my day in the city on the Monday after the fair weekend and was wondering if anyone recommends using Uber to get around, or a regular taxi?  I was originally going take the bus, but Google maps estimate 1 hour to and from the city so that option is out.

My brother lives near Chicago (Schaumburg area actually)  and he always takes the train into the city. I'm planning to visit him at the end of March and we are definitely heading into the city. I think he said the fairs were pretty reasonable especially on the weekends.

How long does the train take into the city?

If you take the Metra, I believe it's 40 minutes? I can't recall off the top of my head. You can check the website for a schedule. I believe metrarail.com is the site.

Yup i'd take the metra I also don't remember of the top of my head how quickly it goes because i take the cta trains usually, but i know it's fast and cheap
