Re: Allergens--- the site is a peanut free zone, so please avoid nut-based food. Trace peanut is ok (like the kind with the "processed in the same facility as peanuts" warning on some foods).
Several of our members have food allergies, including tomatoes, gluten, and milk. Please be ready to list ingredients. I, for example, am planning to make a food with gluten, cheese, and tomatoes. (Wow. I didn't realize that until I typed it. I might change some ingredients...) Next to my crock pot will be a little sign warning people with allergies that these are included!

Potluck Items So Far:
Main Dish:
1. Kazzy, Chicken Wings

Side Dish:
1. Aurora, Bags of Gold

Vegan Option:
SaraMari: Veggie Tray

Snack:
Wizzer

Dessert:
1. Kazzy, Strawberry Rhubarb Tartlets
2. Also Kazzy, Cake or a Treasure Chest--- OR BOTH!!!
3. Ponyqueen: Famous Caribbean Cake

Drink:
LoverOfBalto: Assorted Pop

Serving Items (paper plates, napkins, etc):
1. Aurora, Paper Plates
2. Ponyking: Silverware

This link should take you to a Google Doc. I will try to update the food list here weekly.

Things to bring:
Dice Game Prizes
Prizes for Prize Table
Food for Potluck
Activity of Your Choice
Pirate Costume!
Ponies (etc) to sell
Money! To buy-- smaller bills are nice, easier to make change!
Donation towards site rental- suggested $5 per adult, but if you can't afford that, do not worry.

I am not going to make an RSVP list- hopefully everyone can make it! Message me if you have questions!

FUN BOOTHS!!!!
To widen the variety of fun things to do at the Meet, there will be space available for everyone to set up an activity table!
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeENXzEShlRXz4MVbNDoRW69JA_0GNqH061jZmUz02g4kwAQg/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1xW8-zGSOKIUVzCPGfR_x861lMXX2kxHiRmAluXJsSmZCYSsTqoDo-OaA
Above is the link to sign up for a specific activity. So far we have a fishing game, possibly a sand box game, a coloring table, and a pirate hat station. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS! But if you have the time and ability to bring something fun, similar to a kids carnival, think of how awesome that will be!
I will try to update this page with current activities weekly!

We will also be doing the dice game, because everyone loves the dice game. If you want to participate, bring 2-3 wrapped gifts, value between $1-$3. We will roll dice, steal gifts, and be very pirate-y!

Personally, I vote for early-to-mid-August, because then it won’t interfere with college classes for me. ;) Otherwise, I’m open to sigggestions. :D

I know the last 2 weekends in June and first in July would definitely not work for me. Labor Day weekend will unfortunately be hard to beat with work automatically being closed that Monday.

Oh, what a fun idea to have it in a school! Although if it were me and it was for sure going to be in a school, I'd make Cheerilee or maybe Miss Teacher (G2) the mascot. Y'know. Teacher ponies.

That would be fun, to have the host be the teacher pony. But then if we have to move it to the Starfire, we look crazy.

With a pirate theme, we look crazy from the start. That saves us a lot of trouble!

I also vote for August, maybe the second weekend?

I'M IN MN! But I'll be working every day this summer from memorial day through labor day. I vote for a weekend PQ is there so she can help man my table until I can get to the meet.

All righty, team! Just one more step to being sure that August 10th works for our location, and we will be in full prep mode!

There will be a cost for the site, so we will be having a raffle. We are going to need prizes--- and PQ, can you bring the raffle tickets? Or should we have special Pirate Raffle Tickets? Your raffle tickets arrrrr easier...)

At the last meet, we gave out raffle tickets for the prizes people brought- I think that is a good idea to do again. I have a really fun project, and I can make it with Pony Fleece! Think you guys can come up with some amazing stuff to donate?

I also think it would be fun if everyone brought one Pirate Related Thing- maybe an activity? That way we would have a bunch of activities, and some could be puzzles, some could be hat-folding, some could be eye-patch fashion shows... thoughts?

I can bring the raffle tickets!

I'm also going to start working on some Barnacle art... maybe make a few bookmarks again or some other kinda swag?

Post Merge: May 17, 2019, 02:00:07 PM

Also, I've made Barnacle line-art for a coloring contest if folks are into that again!

My birthday is that weekend!! Fun...it's not way out in the boonies again is it....I will admit .. wasn't a fan of the venue even though it was a lot of room...I have lots to sell this year from several collections so come loaded 😂..... definitely down for the barnacle art and customs 😁 one of my favorites!!! Gonna be crazy cuz it's really close to my Little pony fair.

I edited the first post again! That is where all the updated info is going to go. Please let me know if there is something you think should be added! I don't think we need an RSVP list, since we don't have Christmas Cards or specific gifts this time- and the list changes every day, including the day of the meet, so we will just wing it!

I put links to some things on Facebook, and the Google Doc for the activities. Sara volunteered to do a similar thing with the food, and I will put the link there when it is ready.

Now then, who is going to make a Wizzer cake?

Just making sure, I'm the one providing the coloring books and crayons correct? I'm also not opposed to doing something of my own work, so long as somebody can make + bring copies of it.

I can make copies if you want, Sapphire. But yes, you signed up for a coloring station, and that can be whatever you want it to be. I think there are laws to protect coloring books from being photocopied, but I won't tattle on us if we photocopy a few pages from the fancy expensive coloring books. I have a couple of them, if you want me to break the law.

I think Ponyqueen has drawn a Barnacle for the coloring contest, and I am pretty sure that Wizzer has a Barnacle that she made a little while ago- I remember seeing him somewhere! I think it would be fun to have lots of line art, though maybe we should choose just one for the coloring contest, to make it a fair contest...

Did that answer your question? I sort of went off on a tangent there.

Oh no worries it did! I think it would be fun to just look in like, Dollar General for some brand new books (or somewhere else but, I remember DG having some cute ones) as well as an assortment of different crayon packs. And also, I just got an idea for a pirate themed image I could whip up if people would like to color my own art...I’d super duper appreciate if you would be willing to copy that!!

Yup, just send it to me! You know all sorts of crazy ways to get hold of me, including dropping it off on my porch! (Terrible idea, since it will never ever stop raining...) Maybe you could hide it in the abandoned school and that will give me an excuse to trespass...

Twice on one page I have admitted to possible lawbreaking. Dang.

I got some things I can donate for prizes. And some party decorations and some little prizes for winning whatever.  I will not make it to the party at a decent hour so will need to meet with someone before hand to make sure the goods get to where they're going

Yay birthday meet! :D Yeah, I'm probably going to be bringing Karen's ponies to this one again. I was hoping to get them cleaned up and ready for eBaying by June, but that didn't happen. :(  Not to mention finally sort through my own ponies and get the extras ready to sell. Maybe I can work on these while I'm laid up because of my foot. ^^;

Now then, who is going to make a Wizzer cake?
Hmmm.... :awake: Strawberry, cherry, or watermelon flavored, though?

Potluck offerings!

ponyqueen- I'm bringing my famous Caribbean Cake! I know there are already a lot of desserts, but this is happening! Dominant flavors- pineapple, coconut, banana, rum.

ponyking/ponyqueen's husband- bringing silver silverware! Our family is on a kick to reduce our single-use-plastics, so we're bringing all our kitchen's silverware. Forks, spoons etc so no plastic needed ya'll.

Can we see results of potluck and activity polls without submitting? I'm thinking of more food and activity ideas, but not able to see what everyone else is contributing. :)

This is getting really exciting! There has been a lot of chatter, both here and on facebook, and I am really excited to see the pirate things everyone comes up with! It sort of makes me want to go shopping for boots...

I have my dice game gifts wrapped, and my donations for the prize table are in the box. I have hunted online for some good potluck versions of my Bags Of Gold, and may just go with cheezy bread. Still a golden treasure, but perhaps not swimming in a mysterious red substance.

I will be bringing Lincoln, so if anyone else is worried about bringing kids, my kid will be happy to see your kid!

Now, where did I put that wooden leg?

I am so excited about these activities, guys! I am also excited to see how it goes, logistically. Fascinated might be a better word- will the games flow right? Will they detract from the event, or add to it? Will everyone feel included? Who will be a good sport? Who will cry when they can't get the friggin' ring onto the peg? (Probably me.) This is the sort of stuff that makes my world go round. Logistics is so fun! (Crikey. I'm serious.)

I made a plush, just in case there is a contest, but I hadn't planned on a formal contest. One of the things I have noticed--- those contests don't usually have a lot of participants. Exceptions to that are the coloring contest, which is just fun, and the crazy sock contest at Christmas.

What we could do is give people a raffle ticket for anything they bring to add to the "show-off" table, and that could be drawings or crafts or pictures or whatever. That would provide incentive to participate, but would eliminate unfair competition. Unfair might be the wrong word, but things like an art contest with 3 pieces of art in it, or a contest between a drawing and a plush.

But the coloring contest is fun, and I don't think anyone's feelings are hurt when they don't win. At least, I don't think anyone's feelings are more hurt than mine- I whine the loudest, after all!

Does anyone else have any thoughts on that? I have been watching these competitions for years, I never quite know what to do about them.

I think in the past I have asked for minimum three entrants to a contest for a prize to be awarded?

I have the line-art for the coloring contest! I'll insert a link to download here, if peeps wanna work on it ahead of time. I'll also bring some to the Jubilee if people want to color it there.

I will have some prizes for all the games/activities, and some G4 pony party decorations, and can add to the show off/raffle table. I won't know until Friday afternoon whether or not I have Saturday off. What the hay?!?!? But I'm still hoping/planning to come because I really feel like my shift can/will be covered.

I have my pirate cosplay finished (tested it out last night!) and will be making some Skyrim influenced (from the cookbook!!) Honey Nut Treats. They really help combat the scurvy!

If all goes well, I'll be bringing a small table of my own and some things to sell. Not a ton, but a few fun things. I'm really excited for this! I haven't been to a MN Jubilee in a few years and I'm ready to get out and have a good time.

What's the table sitch? I have one dinky card table. Are there tables on-site for extra sale space, and for activities?

There are lots of tables on site to use as it is in a school cafeteria

In regards to the games, will we have a "game time" as some of them aren't ones you can randomly just pick up and play at any time (ie needs multiple people playing, needs a monitor or game operater etc) like after the potluck lunch time we could go around in a circuit and play each game?

For my game someone has to actually attach the prizes to the fishing pole so it's kinda better if there a designated time to play it

As well here are the updated contributions lists!
Here are the potluck contributions:
Chicken wings (and air fryer) (Kazzellin)
Strawberry rhubarb tartlets (Kazzellin)
Bags Of Gold- side dish with bread-wrapped cheese (Aurora)

Crackers and cheese (I forgot who said they are bringing this I apologize!)

Ponyqueen I should probably change mine up so it can be a more free range game haha!
Also I could just set the game up for a certain time frame when I'm able to operate it

Sapphire rain thank you for reminding me! I have updated the lists to reflect your contributions!

My activities are meant to run themselves, too, though we may want to monitor the scissor use. Sara, we can set up a time specifically for games if you can't think of a good way to do the fishing game. I think if you put a little sign that limits the number of prizes you can win, people will be pretty good about it. But we will figure out something- I want you to be able to enjoy the activities, too! I don't want to volunteer a five-year-old, since his attention span might not be great, but I bet he would LOVE the power of hooking things onto the pole.

Really, guys, I am so excited about this meet! I realized that my pirate costume is really just the skirt and a t-shirt that is supposed to be in the mail right now--- it has less than three days to make it on time! I guess to be fair, most Pirate Outfits were probably thrown together at the last minute, right?

I can't get hold of my sister, who has all the stuff for the pirate photo booth. I am not prepared at all! Gah!

I was able to rearrange the set up of my game to use magnets instead of a clip, so now it can be unmonitored! I have quite a bit of prizes so I'm not worried about running out. I think this will be an even more fun set up, I'm excited to see everyone's games and outfits ☺

Please check out the MN DOT website for road construction and closures this weekend, there are closures on 35w in both directions and generally it is a mess right now

Hi everypony!

Great to see you all again! And of course a few of us even started talking about a Christmas meet... I'd like to offer to host the Christmas Pony Party at my house in the cities on Sunday December 8th. If there's even a couple peeps who might be interested, I'll go on ahead with planning and set up a new thread.

Hugs!
