To get a discount I need to have attended a previous fair?
Does the fair database get purged? My last fair was in 2011 (and I still have the receipt & photos to prove it!)
this is surprising
and WONDERFUL :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
thank you Summer!
re: presentations
Here are options from me (note: I'd prefer to do only 1)
I can update my G1 Petite Ponies presentation that I gave a few years ago
I can update my Customizing 101 presentation that I gave a few years ago
I *might* have time to create a new Nirvana presentation....but I won't know till later this month

No worries, we'll cross that bridge when/if it comes to that. I have databases that go back to 2011. Before that, I do not, but the events were so small then that it isn't hard to verify who was there. ;)
foxtale where did you see that written?

also this is kind of difficult as my attending the fair / hascon is partially based on the cost of the hotel.... i dont want to have to purchase event tickets only to find out the room even with the discount is to expensive? would the event tickets be refundable ?
I just booked the Hilton Providence as well. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's the closest, nicest hotel. I may cancel if I find a better rate because ill have to drive anyway. ;p
Does anyone know if the Hilton Providence is a doable walking distance to the convention center... with stuff to sell?
I tried to get more information regarding the group rates for the convention and the representative told me that the blocks are actually at two hotels that are farther away, Hotel Providence and the Hilton Garden Inn. Once you register for the convention you have access to the group rates for these rooms. Since details are still being worked out, the group rates for exhibitors have not been released yet. This mean there is a chance everything will change but I just wanted to give an FYI based on the information I have now.
Accordingly you also can't book and then have then later have the room rate applied. You have to book direct using the information received after registration.
Love the map ashlyne... stupid question.. did the Hasbro headquarters move since the last Fair that was there?

I'm local so I usually go to RI Comic Con which is in the same buildings Hascon will be in. The Convention Center is connected to the hotel by a hallway which also connects to the Skybridge to access the mall which has a food court. My advice is always eat at the mall not inside the Convention Center which is overpriced.
Hasbro didn't move their original location but they did get some additional office space in Providence. My friend actually worked in their cafeteria a bit.
I still don't quite understand. I have never been to Pony Fair so I assume I'll be paying pull price if I go to Hascon 2017. (maybe I'm the only one here?) But what about next years Hascon? Will the original "2016 and earlier" Pony Fair people always be discounted? Will I get a discount in 2018 if I go to Hascon's Pony area in 2017? Will everyone, including Pony Fair 2016< pay full price next year?

From my understanding we're stuck this year, and following years will probably be decided when they happen.

Are discounts going to be offered to BotCon attendees as well I wonder. I don't see either fandom being happy with prices.

As far as I can tell there's no-one on the Transformer forums with an "in" like we have here with Summer. So there was a big flurry about how expensive it is and the same confusion we had, but now it's quiet there. I guess apathy has set in. Seems like not very many people are going though.

OK, Pony Fair has not been shut down. I believe that Summer is doing everything in her power to make this fair just as enjoyable as all of the past fairs. The unknowns and lack of updates have been disappointing, but no one can blame her for that. That rests squarely on Hasbro not allowing her to tell us until they say, "OK."
Summer has done and is doing a fantastic job representing the community, listening to what we want to see at our Fair, and communicating those things to Hasbro. It has to be frustrating and disheartening to read all of the complaints. Since Hasbro has become involved in Pony Fair, there has been a contract in place. It's unfortunate that we've had to wait so long for information this year. It really is, and I have my own opinions about why that is just as I'm sure everyone else does. We wanted more involvement on their part, and here we are. We can't have it both ways. We either accept their involvement (and sponsorship - $$$, licensees, "exclusives," etc.), or put our own money into taking our fair back to an event without them and the perks that they bring to it.

Skig- I support our local event. I've only ever not attended due to military obligations. I appreciate everything Summer does. That doesn't mean I'm not disappointed in what Hasbro is turning the Fair into. It's not always so black and white.
Thanks skig! I was wondering what the prices previously. I honestly couldn't remember. I do hope Hascon offers some sort of similar deal for Fair attendees.
OK, so the price of one day at Hascon is the cost of the entire weekend last year. I would expect that we see something similar this year. Hopefully.
Holy butts those 3 day passes are expensive! But I'm so stinking excited for the life size board games and Equestria walkthrough!

Literally laughed out loud at my desk when when I read that. I agree but I still look forward to a potential discount... at least for the first year.
I did not see the life sized board games thing listed! That is going to be so cool. I'm picturing like the Candyland type game board from Katie Perry's music video. :D
Hopefully any news about discount tickets and collector booths doesn't come out next week.. b/c then I'll miss it while I'm away. XD
Can't wait to hear more info. :D
... *drumroll* ... Any news?

I can see these be more of a selling point for bronies and FiM show fans, who are used to spending big $$ on autographs and voice talent panels. But ya, it's not likely going to appeal to the G1 collecting community.

I can do without HoF dinners and pajama parties, as much fun as they are. It's not that hard to organize an informal group dinner ;) But if collectors aren't getting a traditional vending room with reasonable pricing, then I can't justify the expense. I haven't seen or heard anything that says they've nixxed that well (unless I missed it buried under all the reactions?) so I'm on standby in hopes at least that part works out. Buying and selling ponies, and interacting with everyone during that part of the event, is a big part of what I enjoy about the Fair.

Guys, best update we can get from Hasbro
There now will be no discount for vendor tables and no separate pony sales space. They said that they can make sure resellers get placed in the same area.

The irony of all this is that Hascon will probably be a financial success. Big corporations don't take huge risks like this without fiercely analyzing the bottom line. They'll make money overall. and probably keep doing it annually.

Personally I don't think so. The point of going to a large, big, expensive con is that you have access to ALL the fandoms you're interested in. Not just "fandoms that Hasbro happens to make toys of." And the point of going to smaller cons like MLP Fair and Botcon is that EVERYTHING is catered to the toy you happen to collect, EVERYONE there is a fan of it.
In addition some events are clearly catered at young kids while other are catered towards adult collectors, and that's very weird?
Like, I actually could picture Hascon being an effective "family con" catered to local families with young kids who, yeah, probably have a couple MLPs, a couple LPS, and a couple Transformers in the house--but not at $165 for the weekend and having to pay for all kids over 3 years old. Let's say you have three kids . . . Tickets for mom, dad, and the kids for the weekend would be $555! Not going to be a destination for a "casual" family. Maybe if the tickets were $50 per adult and kids up to twelve were free.
I can't swing another $400 for my boyfriend and I to attend all that, and the HOF dinner and pajama party has been a highlight for me the last few years. I have nonrefundable plane tickets, so I'm still in, but with the ticket prices going up from 45 to 165 for my guest, I just can't. I've been trying to stay positive but this makes me really sad.
petty rant under spoiler, sorry.Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Is it official that there is going to be: 1) No pony or toy re-seller area 2) No discount tickets for previous fair attendees 3)No discounts for vendor booths 4) No other smaller collector panels
When it was said that they will try to group re-sellers together... were they saying for that crazy vendor pricing or the artist table pricing? Did they announce another bracket of tables?
I hope that anyone that decides to go despite these inconveniences will share what us what we missed.
if anyone is going i would love to pay to get a pony exclusive... if there will be any

It is official. Summer can't come on here and post b/c of her contract with Hasbro, but she's told some of us and we can spread the word
NO special MLP or vintage toy seller area
NO discount tickets (well, there's a $10 off promo code, which is just insulting imo)
NO discounts for vendor booths (plus the requirements for vendors are insane!). Hasbro supposedly says they will put resellers together in one area of the vendor room, but that's at the main big prices....
NO small collector panels (the ones normally put together by us collectors)
Artist tables are not to sell vintage toys...and there's some legalese on what is/isn't allowed and what Hasbro will be able to use for themselves...
NO other bracket of tables
my hubby and I went through the 3 PAGES of legalese on the vendor/artist table application. There are LOTS of requirements, restrictions, and things that would cost you money if you're not already set up as a business with your own liability insurance.
I hope that anyone that decides to go despite these inconveniences will share what us what we missed.
I volunteer as tribute.

Seriously though. CHEWBACCA MOM???? I just paid $20 to get into a local con a few weeks ago with freaking TWO Data's (Star Trek and Goonies), the voices of She-Ra and Skeletor, Ralph Macchio, and about 20 other actors BUT ITS COOL. YOU ONLY HAVE MADD HASBRO CASH. I'M SURE SHE WAS ALL YOU COULD GET.
Disclaimer: I know there are other guests, just let me live.
I went to both fairs that were held in RI. I believe it was in 2008 and then again in 2011?? I would love to go to this one, but it is BEYOND disheartening that Hasbro is willing to throw us so far under the bus that they won't support us any longer. What's the point in mixing MLP Fair in with HasCon as this point? Can't we do our own thing?

Or come to UK Ponycon ;)Did they open up more ticket sales? I saw on Facebook they were sold out of weekend passes 4 weeks after releasing them for sale. I had hoped to go, but hadn't got my passport sorted out before the tickets sold out, so I had to cross it off my list of possibilities.

Well, going to the UK con at least once is on my pony bucket list, so maybe next year. ;) I'd love to get the chance to meet everyone across the pond.Or come to UK Ponycon ;)Did they open up more ticket sales? Honestly I don't know, though last I checked there were still some stall vendor tickets I think. I don't think there are any weekend ones though, those sell out fast :/ so I guess it wouldn't be worthwhile to come all this way?
I did say it half as a joke, but I genuinely think it would be amazing if there was a way.

Cool!! I was kind of surprised they sold out so quickly. I guess it's because they offer single day options in pre-sales, so they hit capacity for Saturday quickly.Well, going to the UK con at least once is on my pony bucket list, so maybe next year. ;) I'd love to get the chance to meet everyone across the pond.Or come to UK Ponycon ;)Did they open up more ticket sales? Jenny, I'm going to try to go next year *crosses fingers* I was *this* close to going this year, especially with HasCon plans falling through. But if they're sold out of the weekend passes, next year might be better. Just hope I have enough vacation time to cover all the places I want to travel!
i know right!?!!

Is that $10 off valid on the one day tix? Because $50 isn't TOO bad for one day con tickets. It's only $5 more than Saturday door passes for the local Comic Con

Considering the amount of space they booked (spanning 2 convention centers) & the general reaction to ticket prices, I would be surprised if it sells out in pre-sales. I don't think they've advertised if there will be tickets at the door or not, but I have a strong feeling there will be.

I see they posted what guests are coming and you can see that times the doors open an close but September isn't too far off and my friend Firefly and I want to do one day, because three days is super expensive but I want a day by day schedule of activities and guests so we can pick which day to go. I wish Hasbro would post that soon, before tickets sell out.

For anyone that may be interested, the HasCon discount code was posted to the Fair's Facebook page today:

I honestly just want to go for the MLP stuff but not necessarily FIM since I don't care that much for the show anymore. I was actually just interested in going to buy ponies and stuff from people for our section of HasCon. I know that sounds weird but since I don't get to the MLP Fair that often I thought this might be a good opportunity. I asked my friend Firefly who would bring me and we would attend together and see what she thinks. I don't really have any interest in other Hasbro products. I don't want it to seem like a waste of money for her though and it doesn't seem like the exclusives are worth trying to get.
