Indianapolis is the crossroads of America. ;) I heard several times that the best one in Tennessee, so I wouldn't be opposed to going there. I also am getting used to the layout of the area around and the hotel from the Chicago fair, so that would be pretty good to. I am selfishly hoping that it will stay in the Midwest, because I really want to try going to Brony Con, but I wouldn't be able to due two far away conventions.

Whither (get it? WITHER... Harrrrharar) pony fair goes, there go we (kid and I). :) We love new destinations and we love old destinations.

I'm ready to start planning. :P

I'm still throwing Colorado's hat in the ring. Centralized location, great airport, lots of hotels with convention experience, gorgeous views and lots to do.

But if the Fair goes somewhere else, that's just another location to mark off my MLP Fair bingo!

I'm hoping for Seattle or New Orleans  - just because those are two places I really want to go and I can't afford two US trips in one year :)

who knows right????  that is the fun thing about the fair you just never know where it will be

i loved the fact that it was chicago 2016 because i did not have to really do anything. i knew where to go, what to do etc...

but going somewhere new is awesome to because you get to see new places and try new stuff

I figured it'd stay in Chicago due to the same reason as last year. No?

I hope it moves about though. I didn't go this year because I wanted to go to a different city and not just go back to the same hotel in Chicago.

Heh, Im hoping for Anaheim(Los Angeles) for one year; theres a lot of theme parks people could check out to make full vacations out of the trip?  Thats one thing that made Florida such an awesome trip!

I'm selfishly hoping for Atlanta. We have th busiest airport in the world which brings great rates on airfare! Plus there's ton to do in the city to boot!

From someone that is from Indianapolis and loves the city, you will have to be ultra careful when choosing your con date. We are sorta packed with conventions anymore. As much as I LOVE having it in my backyard, it may not be the brightest idea. It falls right after GenCON and right before several Toy fairs if I am correct. Not 100 percent sure on that. Also keep in mind massive sporting events as well. Basketball, football and baseball stadiums as well as the Motor speedway all right down town. Chicago in't far for me, nor is Ohio. I could do either and I know that Colombus already has a fairly substantiall MLP following from hosting TROTcon every year if you are hoping to snag some newbies. Just saying.

Actually I'm gonna toss LOUISIVILLY, KY into the ring. They actually have an amusement park in the middle of the city as well as HORSE RACING and a ton of horse themed stuff not far from the city itself. The hotel a friend and I stayed at was only 90 for the night for a suite for a queen and a pullout couch. Its also had a full kitchen. It has a lot of potential. So many horseracing themed ideas for the fair its not even funny.

I'd like Kentucky  - either Louisville or Lexington.  Lots of horse themed stuff in both cities.

I also like to put a bid in for Pennsylvania or Ohio -  basically because I like both of those states.

Seattle or somewhere in LA county ish would be amazing! If its on the East side of the country there's no chance I could go, but Seattle or LA would be very easily doable. Vegas would be doable but it would probably be really expensive for hotels and such. We have family close enough that we could stay with but not everyone has that luxury!

Really anywhere on the West side of the country we might be able to swing. We just have family in LA and we want to visit Seattle anyways so it would be easier to talk people into :P

Someplace horse friendly though.

My vote goes for Minneapolis, MN - it's only been held here once, and before I even knew the event existed, so it's been quite awhile! :) We have two zoos, Valleyfair theme park, and MoA with its theme park to boot, all within easy driving distance - plus the new light rail systems make it easier to get around if you don't have a car!

Granted, I would be fine with anywhere in the Midwest - less of a drive. :)

The heat and humidity can be pretty awful, but if you don't plan on spending a lot of time outside and your A/C works, then it wouldn't be unbearable at least, lol

I hope that, where ever it is, I'll be able to go! I definitely would've gone this past year but I was kinda put off by it being in the same place again. Nothing against Chicago, but I've been there numerous times and I'm always looking for an excuse to go somewhere new. So when I had a choice between the fair in a place I've been to before, or going to an anime convention in a place I've never been before, I obviously chose the latter.

My plan is try my best to make it to the fair next year though, so fingers crossed for an awesome, new location! Now that I've (kinda) conquered my fear of long flights due to my trip to Portland, OR earlier this year, I'm willing to go anywhere- especially somewhere I've never been! :P

I'd be fine with any of these locations!

Gonna throw in my suggestion for Pittsburgh again, just because it's a pretty awesome city that's host to plenty of big conventions with lots of other things to do and I'm totally not biased.

I second this notion... but I do prefer the East Coast so I can drive again and setup a booth. :D Anything in New York state would be the best but I am a big fan of  Tennessee, North Carolina or Kentucky . :D

Whatever is easiest for the staff is best, so Chicago was a great place for me. Can't wait to hear some updates.

i used to be scared to fly as well but once i tried it it was not so bad. i have experienced mild turbulence and that is weird to say the least but all in all it was ok.
i think the longest i was in the air was just under 2 hours and everything went well. i have flown  with air canada, delta and porter.

i just hope i can get to more future fairs :) plus i am already in the planning stages for my booth display  :P

I read on facebook that some people are worried that it will be canceled because of the Hasbro con.

I hope not!! This is the first year I'll most likely be able to go and afford to buy things too!!

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to continue, since MLP Fair is centric to only the one brand, and there seems to be a heavy focus on older generations, whereas the Hasbro con will be for a variety of Hasbro brands. Would it even include anything prior to current incarnations of their brands?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it *did* get canceled, because so many people complain about the Fair every year.
It HAS to be super discouraging to take over something, spend your own money flying around looking for venues, trying to set dates up, waiting to hear back from Hasbro on stuff, then come on here and read all the complaints...(why is it in that city, why not closer to me, why can't I get tickets at the door, I don't like the exclusive, why won't hasbro answer more questions or show up...), especially since half of it is out of their control, or in response to the previous year's complaints!
I probably would have given up long before now, so kudos to the Fair Staff for putting up with us, and still being willing to arrange everything year after year!

2004 - first fair held in Las Vegas, 2005 Minneapolis, Minnesota, 2006 San Francisco, California, 2007 Memphis, TN, 2008 Providence, RI, 2009 Las Vegas, NV, 2010 Louisville, KY, 2011 Pawtucket, RI, 2012 orlando, FL, 2013 Indianapolis, IN! 2014 Nashville, TN, 2015 and 2016 Chicago (Schaumberg), IL

the us pony fair is the only fair that works with hasbro.  the other fairs are not tied with hasbro

it normally moves around the usa every year but a few years it was in repeat places

we are all waiting to see if something will be announced this month because normally it is announced in december  but not always

OK, thank you. i hope that its around Kentucky, because then i could finally go!  :frolic:

On what website do they announce the location?

thank you! I guess it can really vary, i just started collecting, and i only knew of the last 2 times in Chicago. I can't believe that it was in Louisville before i startted collecting  :stressed:

the midwest is approximately in the middle of the country.

That's what I was thinking.  I also think the people running the fairs are located in the Midwest area, so holding it in the Midwest is easier for them.

Depending on the year, the next year's location (not specific venue, but a city) has usually been announced sometime between October and January. :)

Where did you see that update at?  The only thing I have seen was the new HASCON update on the Fair's Facebook page, from October.  That and the lack of any updates have made some of us nervous that this might replace the Fair (especially considering all of the negativity surrounding the 2016 Fair).  I don't thrive on drama or rumors, but it is a very real possibility.

The fair staff announced that tickets from now on will probably be limited numbers; the fair was just getting too huge and out of control.  Last year, no tickets were available at the door, and things were a lot easier for the fair staff...
Between that and being in the same location 2 years in a row, there were a lot of people upset about one or the other, or about the exclusive (which is completely out of the staff's control!)

it doesn't seem like much to get angry about, so probably this year the tickts will only be available online?

There was also a lot of negativity directed towards vendors.
Title: Re: my little pony fair 2017
Post by: Al-1701 on December 24, 2016, 10:28:45 PM
There were several issues.  First they had to repeat venues, but we had to share the hotel with three large weddings, so we did not have the facilities we had the year previous.  The vendor hall was cramped and hot, and the vendors were not able to put out as much due to the limited space.  Also, because of the limited space, ticket sales were limited and closed well before the Fair, so many people waiting until the last minute weren't able to go.  The Fair was also scheduled against Bronycon and concentrated on G1 because they got Katie Leigh as a guest speaker and it was the 30th anniversary of the movie and series.

So, there was plenty to complain about.  And the Fair staff is thinking of keeping it small and more friendly to collectors and fans of older generations.  I know Katie Leigh she enjoyed it and would like to make a return as well as get other talent from the original series to attend as well.

They could easily fix all these problems by switching locations to a more user friendly location.

That's  pretty much all the ones I heard, roo.

Most of the complaints were things that were out of staffs control, anyway.
Hasbro has control over dates for the most part: they give staff a choice of specific weekends. The fair was the weekend after July 4th for several years(before broNYcon existed), it only changed when the weekend after the 4th was SDCC, and that is the only thing Hasbro really wants to keep it from conflicting with, I guess.

Originally, a different venue was being booked, but at the last minute, the place started trying to nickle and dime the fair(charging per table, per chair, etc.) To the point where it was not affordable, at ALL. The problem was by the time this happened, most places were booked full, and the Fair had to squish into what was not yet booked, and since no one had serious complaints from 2015, it seemed to be a good location in general.

Staff annoumced a month or so before ticket sales closed that they would not be selling tickets at the door, on facebook, and I made a post about it on here and kept bumping it up.they kept ticket sales open longer then they originally said, too.

The Fair has ALWAYS been much more G1 oriented then G3 or G4, so I'm not sure what the issue was there? It's only been the last 3 years or so that gens other than G1 have really been represented so much; G2 and G3 was present, but vastly outnumbered.

I'm not gonna lie, I have had complaints about the fair myself.  Specifically when something has been said by staff that turned out to be untrue.

I can see why people were frustrated, but I think the outrage and blame were getting ridiculous toward the end of the complaining...

*edit to (hopefully) be less confrontational!

I definitely wasn't complaining.  I had more fun this year with getting to meet Katie Leigh and watch the original MLP movie than last year's where it was more G4 centric.  Bronies have conventions coming out of their you know what.  It's nice to have one that is more focused on the classic toy and surrounding licenses.

I'm just hoping they can get more of the original talent to attend.  Katie Leigh gave me this great idea to have all the actresses for the Twinkle Eyed ponies to sign poster of their backcard.

Yikes, to hear it's getting all these complaints is sad. :( The year I went I had a lot of fun.

I can see why people would complain about it being in the same location twice in a row, but if it's a good location and if a lot of people can attend it there then I also see why they would do that... :lookround:

I do love that the MLP Fair is mostly G1, and that it's mostly collectors from the older generations that are there. :) I've seen enough immature Bronies to the point where I strongly prefer all of you guys here. :P But that's a given!

Though since the fair is usually held in July, it's up in the air for me, especially since they have yet to announce the location. July might be a busy month for me with cons(Anime Expo, D23.... D23 is most likely happening but I'm still debating on AX) so we shall see. I remember how lucky I felt when it was held in SF. :P About an hour and a half away from where I live. :silly:

But I do love hearing all the MLP Fair stories, nonetheless. I am excited to hear where it's gonna be held.

Im actually very unhappy with the fair being in Chicago and was unimpressed with the venue and how they capped ticket sales and gave us the world's smallest vendor room. I lost so much money last fair. The location wasn't really in Chicago but more like, an hour away from downtown. The shuttle service was nice and it was nice to have a nearby mall. The guests were great as always. My favorite fair was in Indianapolis. I'd like to see the fair go to Philadelphia or Baltimore.

I wouldn't mind Tennessee again, 10 hr drive for me but I know it's doable. However if It ever was in Louisiana or Texas that would be much more doable (I wouldn't want it in New Orleans because well it's not 100% what people really think it is xD)

Aww I love NOLA! I go every year for Halloween, or at least did before having babies :) I think it would be great fun to have it there. There's TONS to do for families (Zoo, Aquarium, swap rides, ghost tours, history tours) the FOOD alone is totally worth it.

if i knew the month at least i could tell my boss "hey i will be taking my vacation...."

thankfully we still have lots of time

i think chicago was a good location in terms of transportation, everything goes into Chicago. i liked the fact it was there a 2nd time because it was the first time i didn't have to figure anything out,  everything was the same as last year regarding my travel and how to get to and from,  that was a big stress reliever

Well yeah if you are in the right parts of the city XD I live a few hours North of NOLA and I've had some people who have been there more than me say it's not some place they really want to be other than for events ^^;

I don't know if they will do Nashville directly. They were in Franklin a few years back which is close to Nashville.. maybe it had to do with the cost?

The only fair I ever attended was 2011 in RI. It was great!
I'm hoping to get to another one, but no matter how early I request time off from work it NEVER gets addressed until last minute and by then all tickets are sold or closed.

I hope we hear something soon!

My summer plans aren't all concrete yet, but I do know that my husband's class reunion is this summer and we won't want to miss that. There are also talks of a vacation of some sort with our friends. So hopefully the fair won't clash with either of those, because I'd hate to miss out on going since I didn't make it last year.

I really, really hope they don't cap tickets this year!

I understand NOT putting a local Groupon out there (one year we got lots of confused parents and small children upset that we were "stealing the kids' toys") but once you start making the "Exclusive Convention Club" elitist.... it's really hard to change that perception!  :(

My understanding was that part of it was the Groupon, part of it was the lack of space available, and part because a 'closed event' with no ticket sales at the door, meant sellers weren't going to have to deal with paying taxes on sales?

Part of it is probably also because there was a lot more theft at the last few 'open' ones; too.  A smaller event is easier to control things like that.

I don't really think 'elitist' fits, because the only limitation is that the tickets be bought ahead. They aren't saving them for certain people or anything like that, or saying you have to be "selected" to have a booth, like some other cons do, after all.
Title: Re: my little pony fair 2017
Post by: octocorn on January 11, 2017, 03:14:22 AM
The thing that makes me a little sad about capping the event is that I always bring someone with me, and it's never been anyone interested in buying ponies.  I think the friend I brought this past year bought a little bit of art, but that's all. I'd worry that I was knocking someone that would buy from the vendors out of a ticket by bringing a guest, but it's unavoidable, I need someone else to take over part of the driving, and I don't really have any friends to hang out with at the convention other than whoever I bring.

Just Checking in :D

Can't wait to hear the news. As soon as it's announced I'll have to start cleaning all my G1 ponies for sale... it's going to be epic. I've gathered boxes upon boxes of G1 ponies and accessories that I haven't sorted in at least 10 years.

Nashville would be workable, that would be fun too. I just hope I can still drive to it reasonably. ;D

I just want to know when/where so i can make sure to allocate enough days for travel and if it's the same weekend as last year it's during D23 which I was hoping to attend this year... but Pony Fair is always top priority.

That's a safe guess!   In the past, Hasbro has taken a long time to make final decisions and respond.  I know what that's like and it makes you want to pull your hair out. I'm planning a family reunion for about 70 people, and it's frustrating when you can't get answers for all the people asking.   It's not only Hasbro this Fair staff has to work with.  They have to work out A LOT of details with the venue, not to mention special guests.

Last year's Fair was announced January 5th, if anyone's wondering.  I'm sure they're trying to avoid some problems they had last year. There were some unexpected and unacceptable fees that came up with the venue they were originally going to go with. That left them scrambling for a different venue at a late date. They were lucky to be able to get the space they did in Chicago, but had to settle for a smaller venue room.....which turned out to be smaller than what they were told they were going to get.   They made the best of it, but I'm sure they don't want any of those kind of surprises this year.

That's assuming they are planning on an event this year.   The fact they haven't said there isn't an event, makes me think there is one, so that makes me happy  :coffee:   Even if it's a merge with HasCon, it feels like there's some kind of organizing going on for pony people.

This morning on the Fair's Facebook page, they did respond to someone asking about the Fair with "September" which makes me think there's a strong possibility that the fair will be held in conjunction with Hascon, which is also in September.  I'm sure if that's the case, there will be a ton of questions and the staff is doing their best to get answers for us ahead of time.  I also think Hasbro's the reason for the delay on releasing a date and location.

I hope it isn't combined with Hascon cause that would just basically kill it as being a convention for us.  But it being in September would be nice.  Just would like to mention my birthday is on the 16th just mentioning it.

Also I doubt my Dr will let me travel to Rhode Island.

That is what I am wondering why have it then.  After all Summer has Hunter.  Unless she has given over the fair to Hasbro to pull into Hascon which I fear may be what she did, which I hate to say may just end what used to be a special time for collectors as once a corporation takes over a convention like this it just becomes about business.  Which also means it will perminatly be parked where Hasbro is at.  Also it will make getting a hotel at a decent price horrible, as there will be no more group rates, no way we can stay at the same hotel with other people coming in for the con, which means the late nite pony parties and sitting in the lobby of the hotel trading and selling will be over as we will all have to try to find hotels where we can if we can.  I mean I understand Summer can't announce the dates till Hasbro says she can but they already have announced Hascon's dates and location.  If this has been absorbed into Hascon kinda like them tell her when she can say it has gone out the window she needs to let us know so we can make our plans.

no one knows anything yet, everyone is just assuming

also IF it is with hascon it may be a tag on event.  as in you have the main room for hascon and then in another room is the fair

we really do not know anything except september

also hasbri is involved in making the fair happen for many years. also the fair staff have to wait until hasbro gives the ok to release information. this is all legal stuff

I'm really surprised at the amount of negativity over rumors.

The only thing I can agree with is September being a bad time for anyone with kids, or anyone who works at a school.

Saying that the fair is going to be ruined seems a bit much considering we don't have all the details outside of a date yet, and even then we just got a month and not an actual date.

No need to freak out over unconfirmed rumors.

Summer has said she's working on things and that "collectors and vendors" are going to be happy. That tells me that there is still going to be a focus on us, something special for us. That doesn't sound like she's handing anything over.  Sounds like she's working hard, as she always does, every year.   ;)

*IF* the Fair is somehow tied to HasCon, I for one am excited to see what HasCon is all about!    I don't collect anything other than ponies, but I still LOVE seeing other toy lines and collections.  My husband will enjoy it, and I'm sure those bringing kids might get a lot out of HasCon too.  And I believe Summer would work to have something for those that are only interested in Pony.

I'm naturally a worrier, but someone said a phrase to me recently that I'm trying to take to heart this year:   "Worry makes you suffer twice"   ...and many times for no reason at all.   So I choose to be optimistic about this, support and encourage those that are giving their time and money to creating a fun weekend for me, and I look forward to whatever's in store!

No use worrying, especially over something that we don't even know for sure yet. Just keep an open mind and wish for the best while things get worked out.

OH god if they are going to do what I fear they are going to do this means the end of the traditional MLP fair.  Cause if it is going to be Hascon it is only going to be devoted to the current MLP line only, which will leave those of us whom are only lukewarm about the current line in the cold.
This is what I'm worried about, especially since Hasbro is particularly cold towards G1 MLP.  Transformers has new production toys based on the G1 characters, comics about the G1 characters and their continuity.  My Little Pony is nothing but Friendship is Magic.  Can't we get an IDW comic about the Dream Valley ponies?  Toys in the current mold based on G1 characters?  It seems like we're have to wait until the sun exploded just for the Loyal Subjects to release their mini figures.

Last year really felt special.  It felt like an MLP convention for me.  I got a chance to meet someone who worked on the original series I loved so much.  We watched the 1986 movie in all its silly so bad its goodness.  I would hate to see that die because thinks MLP didn't really start until 2010.

i to was surprised by the amount of negativity.  people just need to wait and see

I think people are disappointed to be facing a combined event. Plus September is truly an awful month for a convention.

Not to mention the Fair is a pretty big deal. Its the only non-brony MLP convention in the US. If its absorbed then there's nothing left that focuses on the older generations.

People have the right to worry and be disappointed if that's a possibility.

You're missing the point. If the fair is absorbed, there is no fair. That's what has occurred with the transformer convention.

I still think it's silly to get upset/angry over a rumor.

Yes, the fair being in September makes it seem an awful lot like it'll be a part of Hascon, but since nothing has been said either way, being worried about it is a total waste of energy. Even then, say the fair is absorbed into the con...it hasn't even happened yet for anyone to know that it's going to be so horrible. When you tell yourself something is going to be bad and you go in with that mindset, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. What's the point? Nothing against opinions, but we literally only know one thing: that it'll be in September that's it. And yes, I agree with many of you about September being a bad month. Aside from that, everything is rumor. If it happens, it happens.

Besides, I really don't think the fair staff would do something to anger the community. That just doesn't seem right to me. We should all just chill until more info is posted.

Possibly. DragonCon is the largest Sci-fi convention in the world though. Not a good idea to compete with it.

Well, the Fair competed with BronyCon on the same weekend, which I think is a bigger gamble for pony-people attendance, and Fair attendance was just fine.... in spite of the uproar beforehand ;)

Al-1701 is right though -- there are too many conventions to work around whether it's DragonCon, Breyerfest, BronyCon, etc.    It's hard enough coordinating with Hasbro, the Fair staff and special guests' personal schedules, and then finding an affordable and large enough venue that has that weekend available.   I'm guessing those aspects take priority over other conventions' dates.  It sucks to choose, but people do it every year.

me too, I've been trying to figure out how I can fly with a crapload of ponies without having to pay a fortune for overweight suitcases or shipping fees! I'm sure someone on here has tips!

TRAVEL TIPS:

It's over 15 hours' drive for me too, so I'll likely fly again. I managed to sell ponies both times the Fair was there, suitcases STUFFED with ponies and playsets.  It helps to travel with a non-pony collector, so you can use their baggage allowances ;)    Southwest flies into PVD and other airports around there, and they have the best baggage allowance policy I've seen.   Sometimes their flights are more expensive than other airlines, but not when you factor in luggage fees.     Delta also has some free luggage perk if you're signed up for their credit card.    I wouldn't be surprised if there are other airlines that offer the same perks.

Put your heaviest stuff in your carry-on since there usually isn't a weight limit on those.

Many airlines let you also have a personal bag, so you can use that as extra luggage as long as it fits their size regulations.

Some people have shipped ponies to the hotel, but make sure you OK it with the hotel.

Take only ponies that are worthwhile taking. If you've got a bunch of stuff that nobody wants, it's just taking up valuable luggage space and you'll probably come home with it anyway. The only exception would be if you're desperate to get rid of it. Then if you're willing to give it away for practically free, it might be worth taking along so you can free up space at home.

You *can* take playsets in suitcases, but be smart about packing the crevices with ponies, socks, accessories, etc. It'll help protect the playsets and save space.

Buy table decorations once you get there.  Table cloths, streamers, balloons, candy etc.  Make a list so you're organized.  You can even make it really easy on yourself if you order online to pick up in store. I know Walmart offers this service and will hold items for a week.  So about a week before you leave, put in an order to ship to a store close-by.  You can also do this with toiletries!

NON-PONY STUFF:

Buy your toiletries and such once you get there.  They take up unnecessary space and weight. Set aside some money and take a shopping list of things like shampoo, soaps, razors, etc that will be easy to pick up once you're there.  Unless you're picky about your brands, you don't need to bring a lot of that stuff with you.   And you'll likely have space on the way home to bring them back to use.  I usually make a snack run for the hotel anyway, and I get there at least a day before.

If you don't think you can make a store run, shop the travel area before you leave and take the travel-sized stuff.  Get small travel-size containers for the toiletries you need to bring from home. I sometimes transfer my make-up powder to a smaller container.  Check dollar stores too -- sometimes they have this stuff for cheaper.

Call the hotel to find out what toiletries they have for free.  Sometimes they have things aren't automatically provided in the rooms like toothbrushes, combs, razors.  Bonus -- this can save you money :)

Space-saver bags allow you to suck the air out of your clothes and save a lot in luggage space.  It won't make it weigh less, so be careful about your bag's weight limit, but you can make room for larger and lighter things.

Plan out your wardrobe for the weekend.   I'm an over-packer, so I have to convince myself that I'm not going to a 3rd world country and I can get or survive without things I've forgotten. But having a list helps me have peace-of-mind and usually helps me not pack things I don't need.

Pick a color-scheme for the weekend.  If you're wearing a certain color scheme (like blues, or pastels or earth tones), you might be able to get away with one pair of shoes, wearing the same jewelry, carrying one purse, etc.   Cutting down on your accessories really helps!

Put your shoes, hair iron or dryer and anything else that's heavy in your carry-on.  Usually there's no weight limit for carry-ons so you can stuff more things in your suitcase.

If you don't have large suitcases, you can check also plastic storage totes. I would recommend taping them securely & putting your contact info on the top. I flew in with 3 tables worth of stuff for the staff sale in 2015 packed in 1 suitcase & 1 large plastic tote. I secured the tote with a ton of duct tape & brought the roll along for the return trip. I know that may sound a little silly, but it worked out well.

if flying check the luggage rules of who you are going with, i know air canada, delta and porter have the standard 50 pound limit BUT honestly 50 pounds is a lot of single loose ponies.

you are allowed a purse so stuff that with loose ponies to

most airlines let you have a carry on as well, i think it is a standard 15 pound limit? or 25 ? but carry rules is more for size of bag.  stuff that with loose ponies as well.

i used my clothing to wrap higher value ponies and somewhat breakables on the way home. it makes great padding

and i agree about bringing stuff you think will probably sell well, everyone has the common ponies.

i also use the fair to literally give away pony stuff i have been stuck with for years, stuff that went through ebay, pony meets, trades, sales. if i can not sell it by the end of sunday i put out my free sign and of course everyone comes running then

also plan your clothing, i wear my sandals every year and use that for all events, if i am getting a fair t shirt then that is 1 less i can pack for the way there.

i also buy my shampoo, conditioner there IF i know there is access to a local store of some kind to buy it from. also don't forget the hotel gives you that stuff to in your room and will give you more free of charge.

Another tip, if you plan on wearing mostly t shirts and shorts or jeans, look up the skivvy roll technique; its great!  I usually use my carry on for the ponies I'm most worried about, and a couple of bait ponies with removable heads are a good way to avoid being obvious with large amounts of cash, good spot for jewelry, too!

Regardless of where it is these are great tips! (If it is in RI I will be on the driving team b/c it's actually much closer for me than Chicago)

As for the plastic tubs this is a good idea as well! I have seen people check large carboard boxes as well that are all taped up really well. This also saves weight and space that you are allotted.

When packing, make sure not to get too close to the weight limit as scales aren't all accurate and you don't want ot have to unpack or be overcharged at the airport.

I think it was Skylar or Ivy who first showed me that; its great for if your gonna be vending and there isn't a branch of your bank close, so you have to carry a lot of small bills.

Smart idea! Just don't forget which ones have the money and sell them XD

All I can think of is the Nirvana incident where the MIP ponies were coming from a South American country (I forgot which one) were intercepted by customs b/c they thought they were drug mules.... sorry drug ponies. XP

If it's in RI then I know I can't make it, I live all the ways south and it just would not be worth it for me since I would not be a seller XD I know it's going to be hard on sellers too though.

Best scenario would be that the Fair is at a different time of month from Hascon and hopefully in a different state

Worse scenario would be what everyone is fearing atm that it will be same time as Hascon and same area pretty much. For some that won't be a problem but I either mentioned here or on FB that I was worried due to the amount of people who will freely enter the Fair area thinking they can get better deals on items (not that doesn't happen anyone but with a larger crowd it does invite more trouble)

They probably will, but just in case, I've been looking at Hotels.com to get an idea of what I should prepare for.   If you go out 5-10 miles from the convention center, there are several within the $100-150 range.  They may not be fancy, but  they're affordable.   I'm not surprised by a $200 rate for a hotel within walking distance of a convention center.  I plan to go, so I'm going to save as much as a I can, and if the hotel is expensive, maybe stay only 2 nights instead of 3.

Hmm... It's only about a 7.5 hour drive for me. But it's a terrible time of the year (end of the fiscal year). I'm hoping I can make it but we'll see. It's looking like a lot of the "pony people" I tend to hang out with won't be able to make it this year. But I can take that as an opportunity to make some new friends :)

This is what's making me most sad. There's a chance I might be able make it but if I do end up going it's looking like a lot of the familiar faces I'm used to seeing won't be there :(

Great point!!  If I only went to places I knew people, I would never have gone to my first ponymeet, never have met so many wonderful pony people since then.  I meet new pony people every year  and it's one of the things I look forward to ^.^

While it's been really convenient to have the fair near me and within driving distance the past several years, I'm excited that it's traveling further out.  It brings in new faces, more variety in the vendor hall, and different people looking to buy different things.   When a convention stays in one area, you tend to get a lot of the same old stuff from year to year.   Vendors have a harder time moving items off their tables because most of the buyers have already seen a lot of what they have. Buyers see a lot of the same pony stuff from familiar vendors.   Having the event in this area might help bring in different specials guests, maybe more of them.  Change can be scary, but doesn't have to be bad.     I'm looking forward to having things mixed up a bit.

The friend I brought last year is a teacher, so she's out, and all my other friends are having babies, so it looks like I'll be going solo. So all you people that feel like you won't know anyone, hit me up! I've been 3 years in a row and haven't really talked to hardly anyone,  I'll be the lonely looking Sunset Shimmer, lol

Probably won't be able to make the 12 hour drive  :( And after the costs of a plane ticket, room, and the fair admission there wouldn't be much money left over for any ponies lol. I'll start saving up anyway and see what happens  :P

We don't have hotel information and all the hotels in the area are getting booked and charging a lot already. This with the 13 hour drive will probably mean I don't make it to this one. :( But hey! I've had it close to me for several years now, so I'm glad different people will have a chance! Maybe this will help me justifying going to Brony Con. I hear they will also have the exclusive this year?

i have been phoning around for hotels since the start of feb and trust me i have been told by a few already that they are sold out for that weekend.
do not wait !!!! phone and reserve something just to make sure you can get a room.  it is free to reserve and you can cancel 1 day before your check in date for free as well.
i am even reserved in a few places at way different rates. also some hotels will let you have 4 and even up to 6 people in a room so you can split the cost.
there is a holiday in close to the center and they let you have up to 6 people in a room which is awesome.

i have even been checking out buying my greyhound bus ticket now and got a freaking shock when i saw the "shorter" 10 hour return trip is already sold out.... i even called them asking if additional buses would be put on and they can not say. they do still have the longer 14 hour return trip available but even the greyhound is being swarmed with people buying tickets

you know i was not worried before but seeing as stuff is getting sold out so fast, whatever this fair / hascon is going to be it is going to be BIG !!!! considering thousands of people are probably going to attend because of the wide selection of different toys, people who collect ponies, transformers and that magic stuff....

yeah there are so many if's ......  that i just dont know anymore and am actually worried.  and i was always one of the ones to say "lets wait and see" well the fact is with this new information you just can not wait anymore

I might be sitting this year's out then.  I'm in limbo with my job situation (I have a stable job but looking for something I can actually live on) which probably won't be resolved until sometime next month and if I get it I'm not sure if I want to ask for a vacation so early.  So, if things are selling out now, I probably won't be about to get anything by the time I know what I can do.

I suspect that with Hascon going on at least one if not more hotels have large blocks of rooms reserved for the event. And those have not gone on sale yet. So it's likely that they're not truly 'sold out' yet, we just don't know what hotels might have availability for the convention yet.

the people i spoke to at the hotels asked me point blank if i was going down for the convention and then told me the hotel was sold out. i even asked how can the entire hotel be sold out???? they said they had a ton of reservations already

now of course this is not ALL the hotels in the area but allot of them are very highly priced

I booked a room now just to make sure I have something.  If hotels are announced later on I'll move to one of those.  The hotel is more expensive than we usually spend and I think we're flying instead of driving but there's no way I'm missing it!  And there's still time to put money aside and adjust for what ever the plan may be this year.  I'm actually excited for this.  I think it's going to be fun!

Ya Seekonk MA has some reasonable rates, and is only about 5 miles from the convention.  The cheapest I've seen so far is Knights Inn in Seekonk.

I booked at the Comfort Inn in Warwick, near the airport. It's a little further out -- 8.5 miles -- but I'll be less nervous about making my flight back home.  Warwick and Seekonk seem to have a few hotel options for around $100-150 / night.

I'm booking a hotel now, but reserving the refundable rate, just in case there a convention rate in the works for us.

A lot of people who were already planning on going to Hason probably already booked their rooms knowing the information before hand while Summer left us in the dark for so long I mean it isn't like Hascon wasn't already announced. She could have told us so that we could book before the rooms got booked before hand. At this rate there will be no place to stay with out having to travel just from the hotel.  And no way to travel to RI for that weekend

She could have told us so that we could book before the rooms got booked before hand. At this rate there will be no place to stay with out having to travel just from the hotel.  And no way to travel to RI for that weekend

Summer is bound by the contracts she signs with Hasbro, so if they weren't allowing her to say anything, it's not her fault. If anyone's to blame for leaving us in the dark, it's Hasbro.    It's also possible they were still working out details on how the pony event was going to work with Hascon there that weekend.  HasCon hasn't exactly updated their site with any new details.

I'm not sure why these places are saying they're sold out?? There are plenty of options (albeit expensive) right there near the convention center. Just check out booking.com or hotels.com    The high rates we're seeing could be their typical rates too -- they're right downtown, next to major convention halls, in prime time summer.  I see the same thing with hotels near McCormick Place in Chicago, or Donald Stephens center in Rosemont when I go to conventions there.   Looks like plenty of rooms available if you want to pay for the convenience of being next to the convention center.   Also plenty of cheaper options further out, as mentioned above.    We've been spoiled in the past with smaller convention halls connected to cheaper hotels.     This year, we're in the heart of a major city, not the outskirts.   You can tell by the expensive hotel parking rates ;)   I'm still hoping there will be a special pony rate, but if not, I've got my backup booked.

I'm not worried about flights yet either.   Southwest hasn't even posted rates for September. It'll be another month or so before I can even shop for flights.

Also keep in mind, the timing of this even is a full 2 months later than what we're used to.   We're used to having all the information by January, but that was for events in June and July.

For the first Fair in RI (2009?), we stayed at a hotel in MA just a short distance away. I can't remember which hotel chain or what the name of the town was, but I believe a pony person had organized a small group rate & we definitely bumped into other pony people at the breakfast. That was my first Fair, and staying a bit further away for a cheaper price certainly didn't stop me from having a great time at the event.

it all depends if you have transportation.
having to rely on buses, taxis or my feet to get me places is a pain in the pony butt. i do not have the option of taking a hotel farther away. i also do not have the option of flying into rhode island as it is only air canada that goes there for nearly 600.  i also do not have the option of taking a train, due to strict luggage size requirements on certain trains and  certain states only have 1 train a day going into montreal.  im stuck with the greyhound bus.   greyhound bus cost is currently 126 non refundable cheep web fair for advance purchase. waiting longer will cause it to rise.

for the first time in years im worried,  i can not even imagine the number of thousands of people coming in for this hascon.  and how are the tickets going to be? to we have to buy everything direct from hascon?  are we going to pay con prices for everything? admission, tables events etc ???

quebec collectors are also wanting to attend this year and when you have to arrange travel for groups it gets even messier. do we buy out bus tickets only to find out admission will be in the hundreds and be stuck with a non refundable ticket? there is so much "unknown" this year it is causing problems

While I'm excited to hear the location announced for the MLP Fair, I can't help but be worried about the location/date match-up with Hascon. We're already seeing issues with hotels/buses being booked up and rates spiking, but I'm also worried about what happens if the MLP Fair is officially/unofficially combined with Hascon.

It's not being publicly considered yet which is good, but I worry that if it happens (whether this year or in the future), the MLP side of things will be overshadowed by the boy properties... as is typical with Hasbro. :/ (For example, consider the quality of the toy exclusives we get for the MLP line versus the Botcon exclusives.) Yeah, having a lot more voice actors/professionals able to attend both cons would work out great, but I foresee a lot of potential for disaster too. The MLP Fair is such a sweet, low-key kind of convention, focused around collectors and vintage toys, I'd hate to see that change.

But on a lighter note, West Coast when? ;) I was just feeling nostalgic for the Las Vegas Fair the other day, it was such a great way to combine multiple family vacations!

Also, wasn't last year when the Fair was floating a West Coast satellite/mini-Fair? What ever happened to that?

Actually it was talked about the fact of what would happen to the MLP convention now that it is part of hascon.  And alot of people have boo'ed me for my comments about it possibly becoming some thing bad or even going away all together.  I mean the MLP fair was something just for us collectors to get together and have fun for that particular item.  Now that Hasbro has a firmer hand in it.  We can only imagine what is going to happen to it.  I mean already there are problems and some could have been avoided if we had a heads up before hand as to when the fair was going to be.  Plus we also don't even know what the price of tickets are going to be right now.    So we will have to see where this journey will take us.

Oh no, is it definitely being combined then? :( That's like my worst-case scenario!! :yikes: I'm with you, I'm really worried about what would happen!!

Like - one of the things I liked about the Fair (when I went the last time it was on the West Coast, 2008 I think?) was how many fun, low-key contests they had, and very personal presentations! I think there were talks given about customizing, and the art/custom contests, and discussions about pony history, nirvanas... How will that fit into the con if Hasbro takes over and wants it to be more new-toy focused? :/ Would it just turn into another Brony-focused convention? There's nothing wrong with those, and I think they have their place, but there are a lot of Brony conventions around the country right now, and there's only one MLP Fair!

I'm worried too. I'll reserve most of my judgement until more information is available. My biggest concern is how many people are going to be in attendance. What I loved about my first fair (last year) was that it felt big, but not large scale big like say an anime con. The best part was knowing that everyone was there for the same reason: the love of ponies. I loved being able to walk up to anyone and talk about ponies or the arena! I'd be too scared to walk up to people at hascon in fear they weren't pony fans. I made so many really close friends last year that I see in my life indefinitely. It just felt so special.

If it is combined with hascon, the number of people will be exponential and they might not all be pony fans or older generation fans. I'd hate to see rude people or critics to our beloved event, friends, and passion. The amount of people might also stress me out too much.

Of course, a lot of this is speculation! I hope the best case scenario comes forth, like it's an addition to hascon and is a private seperate ticketed event. That way pony fans can stick together, or have the option to buy tickets to both, and new fans can enjoy both hascon and ponyfair!

If I do decide to go, I'll be driving from Grand Rapids mi, and might be bringing sue if she decides she wants in. I'd be willing to pick up anyone on the way though! I'll also have my car at the convention center if parking isn't insane, and I'd be more than willing to help others out by picking people up from hotels and stuff and bring them back! I just need more details on the event.

i wondering on the cost of a vendor table, i dont really have much stuff to get rid of this year. in fact i have nothing worth bringing because everything is so common. but i love love love making a display for the parade of booths contest. i have in fact started it way back in October actually im just wondering if the cost will be to high and or if they will even have the contest ?  i also make sure to get a table to have a "home base" to come to, a place to sit and relax as i can not walk around all day

This is what I hope, too. That would be a perfect setup I think.

As far as vending, and the whole setup, Summer previously said that "Collectors will be happy, former Fair vendors will be happy." So I'm going to trust her and wait and see what's going on before getting too panicked.

You're making it sound like Summer purposefully left us in the dark, which she absolutely did not do. As collectors who have no part in the planning of the fair we are only allowed to be told when Hasbro allows Summer to tell us. You want more imput? Then try joining the fair committee and you'll be able to know sooner, but don't act like Summer wants to keep things from us as though she is some giant meanie. Summer works her butt off every single year and does she get a lot of praise for her work? No, instead she gets treated as though she is somehow the villain when without her efforts there would be no fair. Honestly, I'm sick of seeing people treat her like this. I know people get frustrated, but that is no excuse to treat someone who does their absolute best like they are mean.

I agree. I do not think summer is a villain in this. We know she works her butt off, and is seldomly praised for her contributions, efforts, and tireless work.

However, I do think more communication and more consistent communication could prevent a lot of people's negative feelings. Even if it were small updates letting us know more information is coming, ect. By now, most of us know she's under liability and contractual obligations with hasbro on when/where/how much is said; but letting us know by communicating more would put a lot of people at ease, and easily erase these "withholding information" accusations. I'm not saying she doesn't communicate, but I think more communication would be helpful. In my experiences and opinion, over communicating is very helpful when planning.

I don't blame Summer for not being able to provide details. But it's been months with no communication and people asking questions. Even a "we're working on it and will have information as soon as we can" is better than radio silence. Now we know it's the same weekend as Hascon but still no details even on a hotel. The longer people have to wait, the more expensive it's going to be. Plus being during the school year is messing with people too. I don't think anyone has blamed Summer. But I do believe people have the right to express concerns as well.

If the fair is really going to become part of Hascon, I can safely say I will never attend. I have no interest in the current show or it's toys and I'm sure G1 stuff wouldn't be a focus anymore if Hasbro was at the helm here completely.

Doesn't look like I can make it this year, it's just too far and too costly for me. I do hope there is a second Pony Fair somewhere in the midwest though (I remember reading something about that awhile back after last year's Fair). I used to go every year and I miss the Fair! Us midwest/ west coast collectors would probably be happy to have something closer.

It's as though no one considers that Summer can only tell you what she is allowed to and knows herself. She shouldn't have to reassure people every day that she is working on things because obviously she is or else you would have been told right away if there was going to be no fair. You all aught to direct your frustrations away from Summer and put them on Hasbro because they are the ones to truly blame for the lack of information.

I disagree. I think communication is key. And when people are asking for communication, it should be returned. We aren't asking for a day to day update, but more than once every few months. Communicating that things are at work, will not solve everyone's issues, but it sure would put people at ease, Help people who don't check this forum daily, and dismiss any accusations. It not only helps everyonecwaiting, but it helps summer and those involved to.

I second Mermaid! I know even when there's not much 'news' to report, even just a tiny update like "no news yet, still in talks, maybe in a month or two!" might put a lot of minds at ease. :) It's always good to know that things are being worked on, and that the Fair hasn't suddenly been canceled!

That said, I think it's also important to note that criticizing the Fair's lack of updates isn't necessarily a criticism of Summer! I think Summer's a lovely gal, very friendly and welcoming both times I've met her, but it's possible to be frustrated or worried at the lack of updates about the Fair without being annoyed at her! She isn't the Fair, you know? It's something she works on, with a lot of other people, and we're all very thankful for their hard work! ^_^ It's sort of like when people get mad at Hasbro for, say, the iffy SDCC exclusives we get - the folks who work at Hasbro are probably very nice, but that doesn't mean criticizing the company as a whole is suddenly an attack on them! (I assume most of Hasbro's decisions are made by committee, anyway!)

I never said communication wasn't key, what I'm saying that you should be upset/frustrated with Hasbro for that and not the fair/Summer. Hasbro controls what we know about this event, which I realize sounds tin foil hat-ish, but it really is up to them on when we are allowed to know things. So, what I don't understand is why more people don't complain directly to them....not that they'd listen since MLP isn't the cashcow for them.

And you answered your own question. Lol

The Fair staff is who should provide updates. It's still their fair, even if hasbro is controlling more of it. Part of organizating an even is being responsible for communication with your attendees. If you go to the Fair FB page there are many visitor posts asking for any information. They were ignored. That's a problem. No response at all when asked repeatedly doesn't look great. A quick, were still in talks/ working on information was all that was needed. Not radio silence.

Mm, I did not. I said I don't understand why the anger/frustration isn't directed at Hasbro itself. I also don't understand why people need to be reassured something is happening when if it wasn't they would know, but that's just me.

Hopefully next year Hasbro will decide the Fair is better as a standalone event or at least give us more fair warning.

With less than 6 months to go before the fair, ticket prices and hotel info, at least, should be announced soon, though honestly, it isnt super late, this would be like us gettng the info in January for last years' fair.  The fair itself is 2 1/2 months later, so the info can be later and still have plenty of time for booking.

Even if the tickets wont be sold for a while longer, just knowing how much they will be would be a major plus for people trying to arrange their trip, and hotel info is needed soon, since we know ahead of time that a major event will be happening the same weekend...not thay the fair *isnt* a major event, but rooms will be harder to get this year for sure!

The My Little Pony Facebook page just posted that they will be part of Hascon with MLP|FIM talent and autographs and new FIM/Equestria Girls merchandise reveals.

Hope that's not what they consider as 'pony fair' because it doesnt sound like anything's left for vintage collectors.

i saw that too roogna,  i'm just goign out on a limb and saying it will liekly be mostly g4 stuff.  i  doubt it will be  liek the fair we've had in the past.

unless summer and htem  have soemthing else planned i dont see how this will make " vintage collectors happy"

I have no intentions on going. nad i have no ill will  towads the ivent and not blaming anyone but. unless its  a seperte event i dont see how this counts as a fair.   hasbro just coems out with soem  sort of  cliche  lazy    custom to cater tot eh g4   fans.   last yeears was  so lazaily made.  and  was just    somethign they already had  witha minor   difference.

all i'm saying is   that get prepared for the fact this may not be what were expecitng.

It is frustrating waiting for details, but I really don't think we should be jumping to any conclusions just yet. Also, as far as I know, the My Little Pony facebook page is not managed by the same folks as the MLP Fair and Convention page. I'm still looking forward to going and seeing people; fingers crossed that the vending will be affordable, is all. Need to get this stuff gone. :)

Looking on the bright side, maybe if the convention draws all different kinds of people then some of my more common ponies may sell better ;D

Are we even sure there will be vending tables available for us? - or are we just assuming that we will be able to sell just like fairs of the past?  Is there a possibility that maybe there won't be the option of buying a table at which to vend?  (When I say "us," I mean "us the collectors attending the convention"...I personally can't go this year due to it being in September and I teach...so that's frowned upon leaving that early in the school year ;) --- but I am intrigued by all of this and am following along with all the latest developments as much as I can.  I wish I could!  Maybe next year!)

I have no idea - the thought just crossed my mind!  I'm sure it'll be great however it all plays out.

I would be amazed if Summer let this turn into a completely Hasbro-controlled event. She's an old-school collector and followed the fight for the MLP Fair to get off the ground and recognized by Hasbro from the beginning, even before she was actually involved with the Fair. And she is deeply committed to the history and legacy of MLP going all the way back, no matter what its current incarnation is.

But you guys have to understand - there's always going to be a give and take. Hasbro originally wanted nothing to do with the MLP Fair and it took the organizers years to cultivate a relationship with them. They originally loved that it was a "grassroots" event - their words, not mine. But as their involvement grew, and collector demand for their involvement grew - of course they would require more control over the event and marketing itself, they're going to want control of their brand. In my opinion - it can't be both all the way.

Before the MLP Fair got to this point, collectors were clamoring for recognition from Hasbro and a large con like Transformers had. There was a huge desire for something more than a glorified pony meet. And thirteen years later - here we are. And originally, speakers and special guests were experts on MLP provenance, and rare ponies, and had done things to help build and shape the community, because when it started, there still wasn't this massive amount of information widely shared, and the community as a whole was much much smaller than it is today. And they were volunteers and did it for free. But as more high profile artists and talent are guests, they are going to want to be paid more, which raises costs, and the profile of the event and all sorts of things.

I truly hope that this year's Fair can strike a balance. Because I really want to go!

So let's hold off on dire speculations. With that announcement, I'm expecting word to come from the Fair organizers any day now.

I've never gone to the Fair before, so I'm excited that it is so close to me this year so I can attend!

In previous years, have you been able to buy tickets for just one day or only the whole weekend?  I'd love to be able to do the whole weekend, but the Fair is shortly after the start of the semester so it may be hard for me to do the whole weekend!  I'd go regardless, even if I needed to get a weekend ticket but could only do 1 day, but it if there is a single day ticket choice it may be a nice option.

Granted there's a better than average chance that the allure of ponies will be so strong that I'll skip class and make a weekend of it  :P

I've been on staff the last few years, so here is how ticketing has been done in the past:

Last year there were no single day tickets or ticket sales at the door because the event reached capacity in pre-sales.

In previous years, the only tickets available to purchase before the event were full weekend tickets. Single day tickets were available at the door during the event, as long as capacity was not met.

That said, I don't know how tickets will be handled this year.

yeah it is awful and people are going to be in for a big surprise when they do go and try to find a hotel to stay at, a lot of places have been sold out of dbl beds since the start of February and some hotels close to the convention center are completely sold out.

with what about 4 months to go and still nothing... absolutely ridiculous, how can you plan anything ....

the only thing i have planned 100 percent is  a: i got the time off work  b: i have 2 different hotel rooms booked in case i could not find anything close to sept

that's it.... still no greyhound bus tickets which i am scared about because the prices go up the closer to the event. also they have put on more buses going to and leaving from rhode island because of the amount of people buying them,  however right now the only return trip puts me back in montreal at 3 am in the morning and the metro line only opens at 5 am. so im hoping that will change soon as well. cause being stuck in montreal for 2 hours outside with nothing open in a kind of crappy part will not be fun.  AND ..... when  they do put more bus lines on they get sold out so fast

as for a fair booth display.... well i have a feeling i wont be even having a table this year because i have no clue on pricing.  i have started the display but might just keep it for 2018 pony fair

also im curious who from the pony community is actually going ?

I certainly would hope so.

Not worth it to me though. I'm not a big enough Hasbro fan to spend even $165.

Those prices are absolutely insane. I REALLY hope we hear something soon confirming whether or not our event, whatever it may be, is held to those prices. I can't quite believe it would be, and I'm trying very hard to give fair staff the benefit of the doubt and be patient...  Hopefully the announcement of prices and vendor information for Hascon as a whole means that information for whatever pony fair has become will be able to be released now too.

One thing to note is that the $1,000 vendor ticket does include 4 Exhibitor Badges.   Still more than what I would like to pay, and I would need to sell those extra 2 tickets, but it helps explain some of that cost.

I'll be patiently waiting till Summer's able to tell us her news :)

yeah, but that's still $165 for each ticket and $340 for a single table and a 10x10 space
I'll be *really* surprised if there are special discount prices (as opposed to the $600+ VIP packages), but hopefully we will hear more about the pony side soon...

I agree, it's too much for me too, and I have way too many ponies to fit into that space. But I do like the idea of getting passes included with the vendor price.  I think that's how most larger conventions operate.   It's just new for us to see, so it's worth mentioning what that $1,000 includes.

I trust Summer.   I think the fact we haven't seen any updates on the MLP side means there's still more information waiting to be released.   Otherwise, all she'd have to do is point us to HasCon and say "here ya go!"

i dont know... is an exhibitor pass the same as an admission pass.... but yeah you would have to be a business to make any money i think

im also a little concerned that the 600 vip ticket mentions access to the hall of fame dinner.... not sure if that is the same pony dinner or something else

i am keeping my fingers crossed that we here something soon..  now that hasbro has released there information maybe fair staff is now allowed to tell theirs?
