Hey everyone! Planning is underway for the Hearths Warming meet! The meet date is January, still hammering out exact date.
The Hearts Warming meet is going to be our Holiday party!:awake:
So, what's going on?
Location: Starlight Event Center, Waseca, MN - Lynx room
Please bring 5$ to help pay for the rental of the space.
Time: 10-5 (set up around 9)
Date: Jan 12th 2019
Host: G3 Minty
Food:
Everyone will be in charge of their own food.
But there will be a small group that is ordering from the local Mexican restaurant. If you plan on doing this make sure you have enough cash to pay for your portion.
There will be desserts so please bring a small treat to share.
This decision was made via Facebook Messenger, if you have other comments questions or opinions please share them as I'm only relying what has been discussed there.... Since no one is discussing anything here...
Events:
Secret Santa Gift exchange- see second post for details to sign up.
Dice Game- Bring 2 generic gift for us all to fight over. about 2 to 5 dollar range.
Minty dress up contest- bring your g4 minty ( in any form mcPonies included) dress up with fun socks or holiday finery. Ponies will be judge by hidden ballot.
Kick it up a notch contest - since minty will be our host Pony for the event, it only makes sense for us humans to have a cute, crazy, or just plain silly sock contest. Wear your funnest socks and we will choose a winner of who has the best socks
Tree Decorations- Two teams get 2 rolls of toilet paper and random Christmas decorations to decorate a volunteer like a Christmas Tree. Winners gets bragging rights
Bean Bag Toss- For reals this time! May involve footballs or horseshoes (since I'm pretty sure we can't do an actual horseshoe toss).
Art contest- Make a drawing for the event! Winner chosed by popular vote.
Coloring contest- Color in a pre-made picture either before or at the event; division for kids and adults (cause we all like coloring). Winners chosen by popular vote. There will also be a picture to color just at the event. only crayons will be provided, so if you have a different medium you prefer to use. please be sure to bring it.

Custom contest- Do you make customs? Make one around the theme of the meet! Winner chosen by popular vote.
There will be a prize table with a variety of items. Pony and not pony.
All Prizes will be won through raffle tickets
Ways to earn tickets:
1 Ticket for coming
1 Ticket per item/gift donated to the raffle
1 Ticket for every event that you win. (if its a team event you each get a ticket)
1 Ticket for winner of contests (will be anonymous voting)
or you can buy two ticket for a dollar.
Cookie Exchange: for those that would like to participate, please bring a few dozen cookies of your chose to exchange. you will get to take home a bunch of other kinds of cookies too.
Open to more ideas for events and games!
It was discussed to skip having an official sales time, if you have trades or sales arranged before thats fine.

If you sign up you are committing to buying a gift for the name and wishlist you receive. please stick to the wishlist. if for some reason you are unable to attend, but still signed up. we'll get info to you for mailing the box.
Sign up deadline: DEC 10th.
SECRET SANTA SWAP SIGN UP
You are are to spend 20$ on items from the wishlist you received. you can spend it on one items, or many items, but you need to spend a minimum of 20$ with a maximum of 25$ (don't want anyone to feel cheated) The items must be on the wishlist.
So please think about this when you are writing your wishlist. Mimic and baby dancing butterflies is not going to happen. Most people with an extra are probably not going to add one to a 20$ Secret Santa Swap. Make sure the items you add to the list are no more than 20$ retail. Even if you chose one larger item, please list several options for your partner or it will be no surprise and it ruins a lot of the fun. Be thorough when completing the list so your Secret Santa has lots of options. We don't all shop the same so keep that in mind.
Like with most swaps. if you have a question for the person you are buying for, message me and I will ask them and get the question back to you. Please remind me who you're buying for, in this case, so I don't have to dig through emails to find who you have.

How do people feel about non-pony prizes?

You can count me and my boyfriend, Erick as a very strong maybe. He says he wil not drive down there if the weather conditions are bad, but we both have the 12th off, so if the roads aren't bad, we will be there.
Non pony prizes sound rather exciting! There are probably interests that enough people share for it to be fairly competitive - dolls, Pokemon, cute stickers, Disney, Japanese plush, cats, etc. I wouldn't really have any pony prizes because my collection is very unimpressive compared to most of your guys', I wouldn't have anything worthwhile to donate. But I can think of several Pokemon things I own that would be great...
Knowing Erick and I, we would probably jump on the Mexican restaurant group order. Getting food delivered/having everyone be responsible for their own food does make things simpler and easier to manage, so I think it's a good idea. The tree decoration event sounds rather hilarious, too!

Non-pony prizes are a thing that tends to happen. :)
I will do my best to make it to the meet, but as I have to work a half shift that day I will most likely be arriving around noon or so. :cry: (I spoke with the scheduler; should be good to go!)
Edit: I'm okay with the idea of going to the mexican place! :D

ok. so here's my idea for the raffle table.
you can earn tickets through out the day, and at the end well will draw to the number of tickets that we have prizes.

I think any money spent to buy raffle tickets would be great to go to the site rental first, then anything over that amount can be saved for the next meet. That sort of just means we give it to Marla, since she is pretty much always in charge of that.
I love the idea of tickets being given out throughout the day.
And tickets as prizes for the raffle table is a great idea, too.
Signed up for the Secret Santa. Let me know if anything is amiss with my form.
Non-Pony Prizes tend to happen no matter what. We all love things other than ponies, and at this point, a pony prize will either be a generation we don't collect, or a little more expensive than we want them to be. I have been storing prizes for years, so I should be able to bring at least three prizes for the table, plus for the dice game.
I also won't be there right away at ten. I might ask for work off so I can enjoy the party more, though. I was pretty dingy at the last one!

maybe we should move back the start time since well. it's a 2 hour drive for me, and most people can't get there at 10 anyway. maybe 11 or noon?

I approve of Minty! She's so cute and Christmassy. We should just be sure to avoid balloons, and candy canes on trees, and any chance for her to destroy something.
ETA: I just went and modified my wishlist for my swap partner. If you have trouble finding something pony-related on the list, I have given several other options. As far as I can see, everything is current and I still prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate. Good to know some things don't change!

I can't remember if you're in Stillwater or Shakopee. :huh: One's on the way down from Minneapolis, the other is a 40 minute drive east. :huh:
Just as an idea, would anyone be interested in a cookie meet for this? Everyone who wants to bakes 1-2 batches of a cookie or two, and share with everyone at the meet? It's the holiday season--perfect excuse for making cookies! Besides, I still owe Aurora chocolate beaver dams. :D

that's a good idea. you get an extra ticket after you've paid the 5$ for the rental.
only possible problem is that I don't want people to think that is optional, true you can't force anyone to pay, but by not paying they are forcing Marla to pay. so not cool.

I think we can leave it as "optional, but strongly recommended." I don't want someone to NOT come to the meet because they can't afford it, but at the same time, if you can't afford the $5 for site rental, you can't really afford to buy ponies, either. However, we do lots of fun activities that don't cost any money, plus you can win prizes. I don't think $5 is a stretch.
I know it is nothing compared to how much it costs to go to the big fair in Florida, and no one has complained to me about the cost. My real concern here is that Marla doesn't get stuck paying for the whole thing.
I am pretty sure everyone here agrees, so I am preaching to the choir...

An idea I had while on the toilet (were you expecting anything more from me?): Pony magnets or pony soaps. My mom has a soap recipe on the fridge and I’m wondering if she would be willing to make some small ones while I do the artwork for them.
As for magnets, I saw a tutorial on Tumblr a little bit back and have been since saving cardboard for this purpose. I haven’t got off my butt to actually try it but it’s an idea.

i'll be honest and say i'm hoping all my extra ponies are gone by next week, cuz i'm feeling crazy with them all around. but i haven't donated them or thrown them at random people... avoiding eyes.... cuz some are actually worth something. stupid... but If i sell all of them i get to buy a cosplay from voltron. if not... no costume. (personal rule)

I also hope you get to sell your stuff and dress up like Voltron, Rosier. Even if that isn't what you mean, I am now going to assume there is a Voltron party in the future. I will study.
I don't think this changes the general idea, though, that we need to be sure Marla doesn't end up footing the bill on this. I am assuming the other room isn't free.

I am sewing some simple prizes for the prize table and the dice game. I have some wrapping to do, and a little more work on my Secret Santa project. I should have no problem getting everything ready in time- as long as I don't run out of pink!
Lincoln saw the project I am making for Santa, and requested one of his own. I asked what pony he wanted me to make, and he said Minty. I didn't even know he knew who Minty was! So let's see if I manage to get his project done for the Minty Table!

i still have to buy raffle tickets and if anyone has any garlent they are going to throw away or can get it cheap, bring it.
i'm not sure if i'll have time to draw the second picture for the coloring contest, so it might just be the one.
I can't find my custom minty's head.... which is really sad. just needed to finish the rehair and it was done.

Hey, ya'll! I just wanted to pop in and let you know that I heard from Neon! He is ok, has just been focusing on other things in his life right now. He says hi, and will try to get to another meet soon!
