It seems funny that Sterling has a flower cutie mark, while Gold Lily has the...other one. :D The head of a screw, maybe? A portal? My point is, I wonder if the symbols got switched around.

On one hand, they look like fakies--just really ugly--and they're cutie marks are terrible, and they come with main six characters, and they're more expensive than the old princess packs, and I don't need them.
On the other hand, the last time I told myself I didn't need to buy every single new character whether I liked it or not, Hasbro stopped selling new characters, and I have lived in regret ever since, trying to track down non-main six characters that I passed up because I thought something better would come along.
Is anyone else starting to suspect that Hasbro might be a terrorist organization? All the cheaper brands like lala loopsie etc. make tons of new characters. But Hasbro just refuses to do it for ponies. And when they finally do, it's this, and you have to give them more money for main-six characters you already own in triplicate.
Is it really so expensive to include a non-main-six pony with these? I can't imagine that they save a dime by demanding that their talented artists make the ponies look super ugly. I think they are just super sadistic.
Well, I guess I should head on over to Kmart and buy some hideous princesses.

I'm kind of torn- I really, really want to show support for new brushable characters, and I don't mind the odd color designs (I actually find the yellow pretty distinctive), but I also swore I would never buy another set that contained a Mane 6 duplicate, since I can't justify getting overcharged for one toy just because another I already have multiples of is forced into the set. I understand the goal of the two packs is to be able to charge more for them, but it can't cost them that much more to just recolor one of the basic pony molds into something new- at this point, it seems almost vindictive on Hasbro's part to force people into buying the same characters over and over just to get at the new ones.
It may also be a moot point, since I'm not sure if there are any Kmarts around here anymore. :think:

I don't think it's always about the price issue them wanting to make more, that's for sure part of it, but also I think they think that they can't sell random new ponies without a familiar face aka all the blind bag mini sets.
Kmart's website is weeeeeird. They posted the Rainbow Rocks Rarity Doll + Pony set long before anyone else did, only to realize they didn't actually have it in stock, and (last I checked) they still didn't have it all this time later.

Not having read through all ten pages yet, I feel the need to say, the shape in the middle of the squiggly circles on the yellow one looks vaguely like the shape of New jersey... @_@I suddenly really really want a pony with a New Jersey cutie mark.

She seriously, seriously looks like someone dipped her in a vat of mustard :/ Yet another purple princess, why not blue? Green? Red? Orange? So many colours, but it seems Hasbro went for the usual philosophy of 'girls like pink, lets make another pink pony!'
Not fond of more mane 6 characters either. We get it, they're the stars of the show, but look at all those other characters you have in the show, so many different ponies that could be possible brushables!
I'm also not too fond of the alternate wing colour, but overall it is nice to see new characters coming out for once, even if they are princesses. I'm not holding my hopes up for them appearing in the show.
I too am frustrated by the core extras, but 1) i'm kinda used to it now (not a good thing). 2) I feel a little better about it when it's with a princess (ie a different mold than the core) 3) I use the extras as custom bait
