I also refuse to have anything to do with Facebook, but I really want Minty, so I hope this accomplishes something someday. If Hasbro is smart, they'll make her. I know she'll sell better than any other G4 single has. I'll personally buy at least two of her, one to open and one to keep MIB and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

I was bored and made my own Minty banner. It's meant to be clickable like the one in my sig.

Minty showed up on Taobao ages ago. And there were just a small number of her, unlike all the other ponies that end up on Taobao that get released in stores. I really wish they would have made Minty the holiday pony this year. That would have been perfect.

edit to say: i also asked for more exclusives in aust, but just found out the other day that tru U.S. ships international.... and with some pony stuff selling in america for about half of what we pay... uh oh... there goes the bank balance :biggrin:

I've emailed Hasbro before also about letting Ditzy Doo talk in more episodes and they replied back (I'm in Australia too) :P Maybe they just get many emails about Minty as is!

The situation to date has been that the small size of our market (from a global perspective) has prohibited us from bringing in the less desirable figures - from a regular consumer's point of view. This is particularly relevant to the figures which are made available later in the range - as most regular consumers have already bought all the My Little Pony toys they intend to.
In particular to the pony “Minty” this was a pony that became available seasonally. Unfortunately, there are no plans to introduce this pony to the current range.
I'd like to thank you for your correspondence, and assure you that we do take on board your concerns.

Yeah it's so frustrating and I believe they're just too lazy to release new ponies. I'm so dang sick of seeing rereleases of the mane 6 and stupid luna and celestia.

they obviously don't have anyone working for them that has small children. my daughter watches the show, and therefore wants ALL the ponies in the show, and i am more than willing to buy them for her :lol: she's not happy with just having the main 6, and as new characters come into the show, she learns who they are and can't understand why she can have some and not others. and i'm pretty sure most kids would be the same. then there is the older generation who collect. of course they want all of them too. barbie is a fine example - mattel didn't stop releasing them once they figured fans had the first few... nor lego...
but on a brighter note, We want Minty now has 122 likes!! not bad for a coupla weeks :)

Liked on my (never really used) Facebook account. I'm really shocked Hasbro haven't released her yet, she's been a fan favorite for a long time. She'd also be a nice change from the hundreds of mane 6 ponies I keep seeing everyday now. They're always going on offer too, and the non-mane 6 brushables are scarce where I live.

While i'm not a big fan of EQD, it might help if it gets posted there. They will summon people to do all kinds of things.
(Though the G3 hate might not help.)

I agree. A friend of mine already sent them the link, but they may have missed it or just plain ignored it. The more, erm, 'brony oriented' forums and image boards might be a good place to garner support too. It's worth a try, I know a lot of bronies out there like Minty as well.

I saw a thread on a G4 Sweetie Blue, I wish they would release her too. :( By the looks of it Hasbro was planning on releasing more wave 1 blind bag ponies, Minty included, as brushables, but didn't for some reason.
Also, kezrob23, are there any plans on sending this petition to the retailers as well? I read several spot-on posts in another thread about Hasbro catering to what the retailers want to sell. Perhaps Hasbro did try to get Minty released, but Wal Mart, Target, K Mart and co. didn't pick her up because they didn't think she'd be profitable. Maybe she and other ponies like Sweetie Blue will be released in the future if we can show the retailers they would fly off the shelves.

I Liked it for ya'll. I wish I knew other people that I could ask to Like it too. Honestly, I'm not even that huge a fan of Minty, I just REALLY want some new brushables that aren't the Mane 6, and the other other green pony they have out is Lyra, so I say, bring Minty on!

I'm bumping the Minty thread with something interesting.
I went to go see The Hobbit last night. Fantastic film, by the way (if a bit slow-moving in parts). The main characters are mostly dwarves and a hobbit (who are smaller than human-sized). They ride ponies rather than horses.
In one scene, a character is rescuing some ponies that were caught by trolls. He's listing off the names, and I swear one was named "Minty". My husband and I just looked at each other at that point. "Did he just say MINTY?"
So if you go see the movie, listen for yourself! Maybe I've just got Minty on the brain, but I swear her name was mentioned in the film! (Maybe one of the writers was an MLP fan, or it was just coincidence.) :)

I really want a Minty, there are so many purple and pink ponies but only one green one released (that would be Lyra) it would help to balance the use of colour with the playful ponies.
I emailed Hasbro, and they said the same thing "We have no plans to release minty" I even told them that there are so many people who want her, that the prototype sells for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Imagine how much revenue there would be from releasing it.

Send emails, letters, ect. to corporate- preferably the buyer for girls toys if you can figure out who that person is... (difficult but not impossible- I often use Linked-in to find people I can't find on google)
Let me explain- Hasbro doesn't get to decide what is in the stores- Hasbro comes up with the ideas for toys- has ponies made into marketing samples (prototypes really) - and then they meet with buyers from the Marts- who order what they think will sell. (Even Toyfair isn't just wandering around anymore- almost all orders are done through private appointment).
The fact that a slew of Minty ponies appeared on Taobao at some point almost certainly means that Hasbro they had a marketing sample run made- which means they probably pitched this pony (along with many others) to the Marts- and the pony was not picked up.
Anyway- don't mean to come off as know-it-ally- but honestly would love to have Minty myself and was trying to attack the problem with an eye to how things really work....

I am not suggesting necessarily that you send them an email through their linked-in account- (although it is a possibility they would probably delete) - but you could probably get a snail mail or email to them by searching what corporate office they are associated with- and tracking them down that way :D

Great finds, Galactica! :) I've heard of EECBs (or Executive Email Carpet Bombs, in which a consumer contacts a higher-up in a company with a complaint instead of stumbling around customer support robots) being quite effective. If we're lucky, mailing the 'mart' buyers will yield similar results. I'm not on LinkedIn myself, but I sure hope someone can track those mailing addresses down.

Actually, from what I've heard from others in the toy industry, this is pretty much spot on, though I don't know if the toy manufacturers propose specific characters to the retailers (that may be a bit of a stretch). Most retailers are looking for something fresh and exciting instead of 'oh, we're going to have Minty and Ploomette in the next assortment' which is what the collectors want to hear. The blind bags are the 'fresh and new' and they seem to be selling well, hence why they keep shoving them at us as fast as we can buy them. ;)
Now that you've proposed pursuing the retail angle, I think we should have a course of action, and I recommend the following: pick one retailer to concentrate on and give them a reason to want this as an exclusive. My suggestion would be to target Toys R Us as they seem to have a better idea of what collectors want (and because toys are pretty much their only business- they need to have something different from Walmart and Target if they want to survive). Next up we need to have some sort of specific idea of what we want. Yes, we obviously all want Minty. But Toys R Us isn't going to be overly impressed with one exclusive brushable character. They need something to make it worthwhile to them, and I think a set (similar to the Nightmare Moon Fan Favorites set) is in order. So the question is which would be more popular- a set of six G3 inspired ponies or a set of Christmas themed ponies? I'm leaning towards the latter (though I really don't want to wait a full year to get Minty!) but I know how popular Waterfire is and perhaps having two beloved previous generation characters could help the set's sales.
When dealing with retail stores it's best to have a firm idea of what you want to accomplish- rather than a number of individual emails or letters I suspect it would be better to have one well-organized attempt with solid backing. We've got to sell this and make them want it as bad as we do.

True, having a specific idea for a release in mind beyond "just Minty" would make it much easier for us to convince the retailers to release her. How about we brainstorm some ideas of what to ask for on facebook, then set up a poll so everyone can vote for their favourite? Once the group gets a good idea of what kind of set we want and which ponies we want with it specifically, we can include that in the petition then contact the retailers about it. Just my two cents. :)

Asking the marts sounds like a great idea! Remember the Wal*mart G1 Brony t-shirt? They don't really know exactly what people want and just go on a hunch what they think will sell best, but if we were to tell them what we want, that would give them a lot of incentive to buy Minty!
Perhaps no distributor wanted Minty, which is why Hasbro doesn't want to release her. We just need to tell the buyers we want Minty!

i agree that a xmas theme would mean we have to wait too long, so another theme would be great. hmmm.... *ponders*.... it would most likely have to include a couple of the main 6, like the faves collection does, and like every wave does, so i'll suggest pinkie pie and rainbow dash. so with minty that makes 3... so we now have a pink, a blue, and a green. maybe a rainbow theme that brings together different gens?? the rainbow theme seems to have worked well for the blind bags :)

I really don't mind who gets released as long as we get Minty. I would like Sweetie Blue for the "blue" pony of the set, since she and Minty would cover the two major mystery ponies that have shown up aside from the translucent ones. Aside from that I'll have to think I guess. :shrug:

Not only do we get Minty, but we get an exclusive FIM show character too, which would also contribute to sales.

This would be a good idea... However in regards to Big Macintosh, there is currently no male figure that I know of that is in playful pony size. If they were to invent a male Playful pony, it would work. My ideas for a new Favourites set would be mainly characters and background characters from the show:

Time Turner
Big Macintosh
Twilight Sparkle
Rainbow Dash

Since Pinkie Pie & Rainbow Dash were in the Fan Favorites set, I'd suggest two other ponies in their place. For a rainbow themed set I'm thinking:
Red: Big Macintosh

There is Shining Armor from the castle play set. I know he is a unicorn, but surely it can't be that hard to modify a mold so that there isn't a horn?

True, but is he similar to the other standard playful ponies? i'm not sure because I don't have him yet to do any comparisons.

He is slightly larger than the average playful pony but at just the right proportions that you might expect for a male. Especially, Big Mac who is always shown has being taller and heavier than the girls.

I think it is a great idea to vet a new set like the "favorites" collection-
I bet TRU did REALLY really well with the favorites set- (judging on how fast they were sold out and how long they stayed out of stock) - so hearing from rabid fans about another sure-to-sell-out set would probably be a good way to go!

I'm bumping the Minty thread with something interesting.
I went to go see The Hobbit last night. Fantastic film, by the way (if a bit slow-moving in parts). The main characters are mostly dwarves and a hobbit (who are smaller than human-sized). They ride ponies rather than horses.
In one scene, a character is rescuing some ponies that were caught by trolls. He's listing off the names, and I swear one was named "Minty". My husband and I just looked at each other at that point. "Did he just say MINTY?"
So if you go see the movie, listen for yourself! Maybe I've just got Minty on the brain, but I swear her name was mentioned in the film! (Maybe one of the writers was an MLP fan, or it was just coincidence.) :)
DUDE MY BOYFRIEND HEARD IT TOO. In our Brony group we call each other by our screennames and I'm known as Minty, so they all know to come to me when they hear it. XD I heard it too but it happened so quick I couldn't be sure.

Sure! I would have written one of my own long ago if I hadn't been strapped for time lately. Letters seem to be much more affective than emails, they're harder to ignore when there's a pile of them on your desk.

Lol...I saw a couple of mentions of her in another thread. Hasbro have already done the blind bag, looks like she may have gotten a cameo in the show...now we all need to keep on shouting about that brushable.

Not to be a downer but i don't think she looks a lot like Minty. Her body is too bright green. (And her eyes aren't purple.)

This is unfortunately a sad truth... I try to purvey the shops and forums looking for new ponies on a regular basis and there is either only the mane 6 for sale and anything that isn't the mane 6 is pink to the brim or what is designated as female colours. Now, I like the colour pink, but it needs to be in a tasteful sense. With Minty, it's a tasteful light pink for her mane and a different colour for a body... There is too much pinks and purples in my collection, Equestria needs more greens and blues.

Maybe they don't want to release her because she's not in the show, and they assume she won't be as marketable towards bronies and people who want show accuracy and bg characters, and assume little girls won't want her because she's not green.

Maybe our best hope for getting Minty is to get her a cameo in FIM. Anyone know Tabitha St. Germain and/or one of the writers for the show?

Hmmm.....Well maybe we can do a multiple campaign. We've contacted Hasbro. Perhaps finding out Walmart and Target's purchasing departments contact info and then send them a petition with a picture of Minty's prototype. Show the stores that people want to buy this item. Then email the creators of the show and try to get them to put Minty in as a background pony for an episode. Drumming up popularity from different angles couldn't be a bad thng. Hopefully sooner or later someone would listen to us.

I find the argument of the line being all pink and Minty not being released because she is not pink enough, a bit odd. The last wave which had unique ponies had the all blue Trixie, all green Lyra, yellow & purple Sunny Rays and the yellow and dark pink [the only bit of pink] Cherry Berry. And of the main 6 yes there is the super pink Pinkie Pie but of the others there is only FS's hair and a small streak in Twilights. Personally I think the colouring schemes are reasonably wide spread.
Was the reason we didnt get Minty not because she had been pitched to retailers as a holiday pony but retailers said they hadnt wanted a seasonal release? I vaguely remember this in a video or interview but unfortunately I cant remember which one off the top of my head.
Outside blind bags and of course Pinkie and Dash there has been a distinct lack of G3 characters in the brushable line in general - I truly hope if Minty was knocked back because she had been presented as a holiday pony, HB reconsider and she pops up even just as a regular old brushable.

This is true with the scarce g3 brushables. There are Sweetie Belle, Cheerilee and Scootaloo too (I know only their names are brought back from g3, but still) the only of the Core7 not made if I recall is Star Song and Toola.

After reading this last night I decided to do a search for Minty on a certain popular G4 fanfiction site tonight and was rather surprised by the amount of stories I found, not to mention the fact that almost all of them were positive, and the likes very easily trumped the dislikes (several of which had no dislikes at all!). Either I got very lucky or Minty's more popular among the bronies than I thought.
More than ever I'm convinced- if Hasbro makes her, she will sell.

Minty was created and re-created multiple times in the G3 line!!
.... and ... a lot of G3 ponies have been re-created as G4 blind bags (including Minty). So you never know.

loving all the minty support!! i haven't sent anything to hasbro yet, i figured as it's the holiday period it'll be too easy for emails to get lost or "never received". 2 weeks into the new year should be a good time - i hope :)!! in the meantime, i'll try and get the link out there as much as possible (kids depending, roll on 31st january and the first day of school!!) and lets hope we get stacks more likes :biggrin:

I'm really happy with all the support people have given for a Minty doll. I really do hope they make one, along with some other ponies that weren't made like sweetie blue and more of the mysterious foal ponies too.

Yup - I think its really weird as well Galactica. Of course we dont know how much of these rumours from HB are really accurate. But considering Mintys presence in the cartoons and G3 line and her popularity [after all they wouldnt have kept releasing her if retailers didnt want her], she is one you would think would have been picked up by store buyers.
All I can think is that I always thought it was bizarre she got ditched from the core 7 line as well - she was an obvious choice along with Pinkie and Dash I thought considering the scale of her previous release. But HB dumped her then so perhaps whatever reason they had at that time for thinking she was not applicable has continued into G4?

I emailed them too, sometimes they ignore posts about Minty and/or put them on the back-burner to answer later.

Hey, you never know, even if they don't reply they may still consider it. I emailed them when the G3 line started and asked for blank ponies to customize. They responded with a generic, we don't accept suggestions from the public but thanks anyway. But they did put out blank ponies. GL!

I wish Hasbro would at least tell us WHY they won't release her. But really, they aren't allowed to talk about unreleased or revisions or any of that stuff. At least, that's the response I got when I asked Hasbro about wave 2 blindbags.
