Title: Healthy Pony Here We Go! LAST CHALLENGE!!!
Post by: Crowning_Glory13 on January 22, 2017, 11:01:10 AM
I thought I was keeping my healthy goals in check, until I went shopping the other day:( Healthy Pony has not only kept me on task but also feel so not alone. This event is not a swap. It is a safe place to talk about goals and frustrations reaching those goals. It last about 3 months. Jan 29 to April 30. The only commitment is to pop in about once a week. I put rewards in your quart. You can reward yourself, or ask a member to send them an award. Sign ups go to Jan 29. So who is with me for healthy pony?

Sign up:
What 3 goals do you want to achieve?
1.
2.
3.

How will you reward yourself?

What is you ultimate goal?

Crowning Glory Sign up.
What 3 goals do you want to achieve?
1. Walk on my lunch break at work 5 times a day.
2. Play piano 3 times a week.
3. Keep my knitting projects on task.

How will you reward yourself?
Simple rewards would be getting a blind bag, cleaning a pony, or relax day. My biggest goal is to purchase the G4 Castle with flurry heart, or Pony USA wear.

What is your ultimate goal?
My goal is to loose my weight and keep it off. Build up my piano and knitting to make that more of an income verses holding a full time job. My dream is to be my own boss. ( may not be reached in 3 months, but I hope this will get me on track.)

I will throw challenges for everyone to keep them interested and excited. Please join. Who knows you might get a bonus for completing a challenge:)

All participants can bring up a challenge or idea:) just pm me so I do not Miss it.

Let's work together and become the ponies we want to be:)

I'm interested but I will have to think on what my rewards would be!  Right now there is only one thing on my mind: getting BACK to Disney World!  :D

Healthy Goals:
1.  Daily cleanup of house (help small person pick up toys before bed, no dishes left on tables or counters at night, fold whatever laundry has been washed)
2.  Remember to eat at least ONCE while at work (terrible habit of starve/binge post 6pm)
3.  ---need to think of a third one---

*I will add rewards later*

Ponyfan's healthy goals

1 Exercise for at least 10 minutes a day at least 5 times a week

2.  Try to lose a few pounds/cut back on extra sugary drinks

3 Not sure yet

Rewards

Something small but not sure yet what my reward will be.

It's OK to not have it all at the start. That's the fun. You reach one goal and who knows you might find another.:)

I should really do something like this... I've already identified at least 5 goals I could include, the problem is that while some would help with a healthy soul, they would heavily interfere with "must-type" things... and I'm the queen of procrastination, I know if I want to tackle everything (or just the bigger things) at once I'll just fail all of them :(
I've made a list for myself for now. I'll have to sleep on it and see which ones I should "officially" include here.

If you need more then 3 goals that is OK. I just didn't want anyone to feel overwhelmed

Post Merge: January 24, 2017, 08:36:00 AM

So good day and bad day. At fast food. Not good. But I am walking on my lunch break and have a healthy lunch. I know it is early to start, but it is better to start trying now then struggle later. I was sick in bed yesterday so a walk feels so nice.

If you need more then 3 goals that is OK. I just didn't want anyone to feel overwhelmed
thank you for the info! however, I'm pretty sure unfortunately, knowing myself, that I will have a big enough challenge with following up with just 3. my main issue was which 3 to choose from the more than 3 I've identified, as some are conflicting (they would help me feel better emotionally, but they would take time away from those that are more on the "must"-side).

ok, here's my sign-up :)

Loona's Healthy Pony goals:
1. Wash teeth at least twice a day
2. Exercise at least 3 times a week
3. Eat more fruits and vegetables and less sweets as snacks/in between meals

I don't think I have an ultimate goal out of these, but the first two would be more important. as a vegetarian I do eat enough fruits and vegetables compared to meat eaters, but I also tend to feast on chocolate and candy, and even though I have lucky genes and don't gain weight due to them, I really want to cut back on them for future health-conscious reasons, hence the third goal. it wasn't an issue until last spring when we've moved and I suddenly didn't have a grocery store exactly at the tram stop. but I still have plenty of stores on the way to work, there's a grocery store exactly like the one I used to go to in one of the tram stops, going into this or another store on my way would really only mean 5-10 minutes extra time, so there really is no excuse other than me being lazy. which should not be an excuse.

I know the first goal may sound gross - I am unfortunately allergic to menthol, and have always got awful gag reactions and extensive saliva production during washing teeth. having found toothpastes that contain minimal or no menthol helped with the allergic reaction, but I still hate washing teeth from the bottom of my heart (and the symptoms, though heavily reduced, are still present, so it's still not a pleasant experience) :S currently I only wash my teeth once a day, before going to sleep, and even though I inherited good teeth from my father and I don't have a lot of issues with them (3 fillings, 2 of which I only got last year) I know I'm playing a risky game, and once gone bad it can't be turned around, so I really should get into the habit of doing it at least 2x a day, that would be a huge improvement already compared to the current situation. I've already tried to do this a little more than half a year ago, and was OK for a couple of months, but lazed out again and never managed to get back into the habit ever since.

Exercising would be something I'd have to do for two reasons: my shoulders and back are hurting often (mainly because of office work), two years ago I had to attend physiotherapeutic exercise sessions for months as a result of doctors' prescriptions. the pain got better back then, but I assume it was only because I was unemployed for almost 4 months and wasn't sitting in an office chair in front of my computer all day. I should have continued with the exercises on my own, at home, but of course I was lazy and I didn't. the pain has started to come back a few months ago - not that bad yet, but I already know how far this can go, and should really do something against it. due to not gaining weight easily I am really not a sporty person, and I really don't like having to exercise - but I really should. I'm only 32, with a track record of chronic pains, how will this feel like when I will be 42?
the second reason for working out is that I'd love to shape my bum and thights. but the pain thing would be the first thing to resolve, I'm sure it would be easier to just do additional exercises once I got into the habit of exercising itself.

I'm sorry for the long explanations - I felt it might help me get in the mood/more focused if I get these out :lookround:

I haven't thought of the rewards yet... will have to come up with something :)

This is a great idea, count me in!

My goals are...
1. Meditate for at least 10 minutes every day
2. Practice the acoustic guitar for at least 15 minutes, 5 days a week
3. Challenge negative thoughts and reframe them in a more constructive way

How will you reward yourself?
I haven't thought much about this, there isn't anything that I really want. Maybe I can get some more work done at one of my tattoos done as my reward; it'd be nice to get my half-sleeve redone because ugh talk about a botched job. :/

As for my ultimate goal, that's kind of an amalgamation of things. My main aims are to reduce stress and anxiety, hopefully get better sleep, be more focussed and generally feel better (both physically and emotionally) I think that keeping up constructive activities will help me to feel that I'm achieving something and keep my confidence out of pits as well. I'm going to get back into using my diary to keep track of all this as well!

What 3 goals do you want to achieve?

1. Do Cardio 2-3 times a week.
2. Strength train twice a week, with a trainer. (this might change when summer starts)
3. Keep my studio clean.
4. Eat clean, and eat more vegetables

How will you reward yourself?
I'll feel better?... Not sure yet.

What is your ultimate goal?
My over all goal is to build more muscle and to eat less processed foods.  I would like to create a better home environment for myself and not to be overly judgmental about what I'm eating.

Today is the final day to sign up. If you have to make adjustments to sign up, that is perfectly fine. I have hosted healthy pony multiple times, and it seems less intimidating. Not to say it works for everyone. We start fresh on Jan 30. I will be giving you weekly challenges. You do not have to do them, but they are designed to try and help you achieve your goals or try something new:) I would like a weekly post if I can. Life happens, we all understand. If you have done the challenges please post them. I like sending out gifts to those who help keep this going. When it's just me posting...I kinda feel like a looser:( we can have a great 3 months. In my experience this has helped me a lot. I used to constantly get junk food. Big money waster, fat builder, and emotionally hindered me. It took a long time, but now I don't sneak junk food. I might crave it, but maybe once a month. I sometimes can ignore it! But each time I posted how many days I did not get junk food was so uplifting. Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to give you my success story:) good luck and please post away. This is a safe place:)

1. Avoid processed sugar & grains (I have already been doing this 100% for 2 weeks so far...)
2. Do the 7-minute workout at least 2x per week, ideally 3x though  (Haven't started yet, baby steps)
3. Get some fundraising ideas off the ground (selling off old eBay stock, some of my collection & artwork, etc.)

Picking out a grail pony and finally getting it!

What is you ultimate goal?
1. Lose weight
2. Raise money to fund an adoption

Thanks for doing this Crowning Glory! It's a great idea!

Well here we Go! I tried to walk today on my break...about 10 minutes in I got super cold. 22 degrees and windy so I got 15min total.

Challenge #1 start working on those goals, and tell us how it's going:)

Start off easy:)
Title: Re: Healthy Pony Here We Go! Challenge #1
Post by: Loona on January 30, 2017, 10:51:18 AM
so far I'm going semi-well: today I've made a trip to a supermarket in my lunchbreak and bought fruits (and also some non-sugary snacks) for snacks, now I have about a week's supplement of fruits at work, so this is fine. if I could keep on doing this on Mondays I'd be all set on this goal
I did wash my teeth in the morning, and I've done the same all last week on office days, which is good - the problems start when I'm working from home or have a day off, because while I can fit in a second round of teeth-washing in my morning routine when I get ready for work fine, when I'm at home things just work differently, and I forget  better than nothing, I guess. I'll have to try to keep up with the morning "sessions", and try to come up with a reminder for days spent at home.
no workout yet, at all  -_- I planned to go to a sports store after work and look at yoga mats (we have parquet in our rooms and thus the floor is pretty hard and cold, I would like something I could lay down on), but I had to do shopping on my way home and time went faster than I planned, so I did not have time for it in the end. hopefully tomorrow...
(the supermarket did have a small selection of yoga mats which I did check out, I loved the price but not the colour-selection: all were coloured, and I would like black or grey. dang my colour preferences :pout: )

If you don't like the color, you won't like using it:)

No work out for me:( piano is a no go. I have the worst head ache.

Loona you are off to a great start:)

So far the meal thing is going well. I'm late eating lunch, which could snowball into snacking if I don't watch my time better. Off to make a salad! I've also been packing up a huge pony order to weigh for shipping, so the fundraising thing is going super well.

I did leg strength training on Sunday and I did some very low impact cardio tonight.

I'm still new to strength training but I'm definitely recovering allot faster.  I'm 5 classes in and previously my body has felt dead for days after.  I'm a bit sore still but I don't feel completely beaten up, lol.

I've got off to kind of a patchy start; for the most part turning negative thoughts into positives has been going alright but jobseeking is throwing a massive spanner in the works. I lost a lot of sleep last night worrying about my social anxiety holding me back from securing a full-time job. :/ Keeping up with the guitar and meditation are going alright, though.

Last night my head ache turged to vomiting, answer pretty much sleeping. I made it to work, but not 100%. My dream in life is to work from home. I got myself organized so this might help me to end strong.

Kakenterpnis- way to stick through the pain. I am a baby when I work out. If it Hurst I don't want to do it. Keep it up:)

Taproot- I saw some positives in that post:) way to go. Jobs are hard. I have been fired and out of a job for months.it is very hard but it will work out. I see it so much on healthy pony:)

Everyone seems to be off to a good start. :bigups:

I didn't join this time as I don't have any super specific goals, and really don't have a reward system for it. Just some things to work on/get better at, but if they don't work then they don't. But I love cheering everyone on and seeing how others are doing with their goals, so I'm just here for support.

Hope it's not too late to join?

I have a 36 inch waist and I'd like a 30-32 inch waist.
I'd like to tone up
I'd like to increase my energy levels.

I'd like to do this through diet and exercise.

I wi reward myself by strutting around in my black rubberised jeans, might as well get as much wear out of them as I can before I'm 40 ;)

The snags are I'm super stressed with job hunting plus short of money. I've been cooking from scratch and doing home exercises and moderate cardio for a couple of weeks now and although I have toned up I still have a 36" waist.

I say it's never to late to join:) it's just nice to have a start point, so welcome artemisia:) jobs are hard. I finally have one consistent job...but trying to get a piano studio...it just takes time now matter what we want

Kiwi!!! That's for your support! How is your etsy shop? I hope by summer I can be ready.

I am walking today. I did not knit or piano these last two days. I have been really tired lately...hope today I can be more productive:)

Thank you, yes I see I'm a few days late.  I think a definite start point is good although it may seem a bit harsh.  I often find with music practice that I practice more when I get inspired by a piece of music.  Sometimes it's the urge to sing or work on a song that makes me pick up my guitar.  I hope you get your inspiration back soon :)  p.s. do you like Beverley Craven and Tori Amos or just classical?
Title: Re: Healthy Pony Here We Go! Challenge #1

Feeling discouraged today on two fronts...
I'm supposed to be dog-sitting next week to help my fundraising, and I just found out this dog is barely housebroken and also not obedience trained, and whines all night long. I'm used to my own dog who obeys and stays quiet and won't even put her feet on rugs or furniture if I don't want her to. LOL Gonna be a looong week.

Second, I have felt my diet is on point and I've been avoiding sugar and meeting my goals, yet after a nice steady 8 lb. loss, I'm suddenly up 3.5 lb. I know it's probably just a fluctuation and I'm probably overall fine, but it's the kind of thing that is really discouraging to slide farther from my goal for what feels like no good reason. Trying really hard today to keep my mind in the game even though cheating and/or giving up altogether is a very real temptation.

Thank you for the inspiration artemisia. I really want the song for Coloratura, FIM episode. I can not find it anywhere. I like all music for my piano. I suck at names so I will have to luck up their music:)

Minty Socjs...channel a little fish. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming.:) in all games we take step back, so we can take a giant step forward.

I am doing ok on my walks. It is cold...like 22 degrees. It's the wind that gets me. So I have averaged 20min verses the desired 45min. But I am keeping at it. The temp will warm up. Being productive on knitting/custom projects:) will have some progress pictures this weekend.

Sugar drinks are so addictive! I have half natural fruit juice and half sparkling water once per day now, that's it.  I switch to lower sugar alternatives and the first couple of times I'm like 'meh' but then I get used to it and overall other stuff starts tasting nicer as well.

Mintysocks that's over half a stone you've done so well! I have to average my weight over the month and generally expect to be a couple of pounds higher than my lowest weight on average.

I've had a really good day today.  I got a lot of stressful horrible stuff out of the way and did some photos.  I ate very moderately - after a pastry for breakfast I just had a bit bowl of veggie curry, rice with lentils and salad for dinner and a strawberry shake and that was it.  This is about what I need to aim for every day.  Wheat is OK in the morning but no later in the day for me and cutting down on salt and sugar by home cooking everything with veggies. Need to get to bed now so I can get going tomorrow morning.

My real reward... Dazzleglow.  She hasn't arrived yet though so no premature excitement, it's the rules!

:lovey: Thank you for the encouragement! I stuck with it today and refused to eat badly even though I was out running errands and had every excuse to grab a burger. Artemesia, have you tried fruity herbal teas like peach or berry, sweetened with stevia? I love that!

Crowning Glory I totally thought of Dory today after you said that, "just keep swimming" and it's seriously true.

I am all out of sorts with my broken needle. Looks like I have to make a purchase:( the needle pack was very expensive. Still waiting to hear from the company.

I adjusted my goals a bit. I do more then just knit things to sell, so I want to get my crafting more organized.

No walking as I only get 30min break today. It's only 9 degrees too...so way cold

Ponyfan well done for drinking water instead! I don't like diet drinks either the taste is really odd to me. Minty socks no I haven't, i know stevia is huge but I still haven't tried it. I should look into it. I did my resistance exercises today, legs and core. I am increasing on those over time. Feeling tired today bc I always find medical appointments really draining but still managed a few hours of gardening/chores.  Working tomorrow and Saturday so bath and early night.

Problem is I still haven't eaten and I'm too tired to cook. I get stressed out and then I only want to eat junk food. I just had a protein shake. I'm finding it so hard to eat healthy and save money when I'm cooking for just one person.

Do you like to reheat food? You can make a large meal and have left overs for times like these. Or get ingredients make a large salad. All cut up and ready. So you can just dump what you want and have a yummy salad in no time:)

Aww you are sweet for asking. I haven't had any sales, but been getting some views and favourites at least. I have some new products finally that I can add soon. Probably this weekend - I can really only do pics on the weekend because it's dark when I get home from work. Hoping those might get some interest.

Going to hit Michael's on the weekend and do some shopping, heehee.

Don't give up everyone. I think tomorrow is going to my downfall. There is a party at work and I'm pretty sure there will be lots of sugary drinks. Also I get an extra Coke on Friday's as a "It's the weekend" treat. I did my 10 minute workout today.

Crowning_Glory13-Thanks its definitely been a different experience.  Trainers are tough if you don't do it right it doesn't count.  I'm training tomorrow morning and I was told there might be a surprise... not excited for a new addition to my workout.

I did some cardio on Wednesday.  I've fallen into a bad rut.  I come home from work, eat dinner watch some tv and fall asleep.  I woke up at 9 and I had to rush out to the gym.  I'm just so sleepy.

OK I'm pretty excited...
Today something happened I've been waiting a long time for. I have slimmed down enough to take off my wedding ring. I can clean it and polish it again!! It was so embarrassing that I couldn't take it off for like a year because my finger had puffed up.  My husband used to take me to the jewelers every six months to get it cleaned and prongs checked, and we'd make a date of it. I kept having to make up excuses why it wasn't a good day to go, because I was too humiliated to admit to him there was no way I could hand it over.

TODAY I GOT IT OFF!!! And it goes back on easily!

This might seem a minor thing, but to me it was symbolic of my body being seriously messed up. I don't want to EVER be like that again. And you ponies are the only people I can tell, because I am not shouting about this embarrassing fact on my Facebook page!

Yay, I'm so happy to hear this MintySocks! it's always so good to see when the work and effort you put into something shows, and this one is even more special because of the symbolical additional meaning it has for you! :)

uhh, that does sound tough kakenterprise! >_< I know you can't go easy on this if you want to see results, but I don't think I could cope with a tough trainer - I'm just not that type and would take the toughness to my hears and it would just make me give up because of the feeling of that I'm never good enough. I envy people who are facilitated by this and can keep on going :) you rock!

sugary drinks are addictive indeed! and they make your tastebuds super numb, it takes adjustment to go back to normal afterwards... I know I used to drink tea with 2-3 teaspoons of sugar added to one cup when I was young. it was very sweet, but I liked it that way. after awhile I realised it doesn't really make a difference if I only add 1-1,5 teaspoons, and after awhile I even abandoned sugar from tea completely. now I love this taste, and a sugary tea just feels... strange, too sweet, as if I was drinking liquid sugar. I no longer like it :D
the same happened with syrups to which you add water and then drink - I used to drink them with a bigger amount of syrup than I do now, and I used to like it that way, but I slowly decreased the amount of syrup, and now if I accidentally add too much I just don't like that too sweet, sugary taste and have to add more water to compensate it. (these are still sugary though, I just told this as an example for the adjustment)

I recommend good quality fruit teas - they are full of flavour, and can quickly make you forget a need for additional sugar :) I still have some filters of a plum and noni-flavoured tea I bought on clearance sometime in late 2015 (I won't include brand, as I'm pretty sure it is a small one and chances it is available in the US are little) which tastes so sweet it makes you second guess it doesn't contain added sweeteners :)
also, today I drank the sweetest apple juice ever! and it only contained - apples! I wouldn't have believed if I didn't see the guy throwing the apples into the mixer and then giving the juice to me! it's most likely dependant on the species of the apple as well, and these must have been sweet ones to begin with, but this is also a great example of that added sugar is completely unnecessary if the base of the drink is selected wisely.

the second half of the week meant a decrease in my conscious snacking. I had to work from home (due to the bad weather - rain then hail then below freeze degrees turned the city into a huge ice skate rink :S and my mamagement ordered us to work from home, so that we don't fall and get injured on our way to work and back home), and here I have more options than the fruits I bought at the beginning of the week, and when I got lazy/had too much work to peel a fruit I was able to choose from "just grab the bag and get back to work" biscuits and cookies and such as well :/ luckily I am not in the mood for sweets, so the cookies did not tempt me and the biscuits were at least salty and not sugary, but they are still a worse option than the fruits. oh well, I should have more time in the weekend, so "peeling them takes time" should not be an excuse :D

my other two goals were also affected by the home office, one negatively and one positively. I did manage to wash my teeth during the morning also on my home days, which I am very happy about, but I did not really go out because of the ice skate roads so I still don't have a yoga mat&can't yet start working out...

Way to go Minty Socks. The little things make us push just a bit harder:) no matter how small an achievement it is a great thing.

I don't like a woe is me rant, so I won't. I will be reading and keeping notes, but I might not post for awhile. Keep up the great work. I am going to stich myself together...pun intended.

Well I've been doing alright with maintaining my goals, keeping notes in a diary is definitely a big help. My mind has been wandering a lot during meditation sessions though, so I'm going to try doing a session in the morning as well as in the evening, and hopefully it'll help to clear my mind a bit better. I've been a bit spacey and unfocussed overall lately, not really sure what's causing it. :/

My understanding is that the mind wandering and how you pull it back is the meditation.  So don't worry that it wanders, just be kinder to yourself as you pull it back and then you will be more present and pull it back more frequently.  Kind of like a really simple computer game.  This is what I learned at the Buddhist centre.  However I am no good at meditaitng on my own which is why I go to the Buddhist Centre, but my concentration really is shot. In Eastern traditions they would say that the spacey feeling might be because your upper chakras are over energised. Have you tried doing yoga before your meditation practice to ground yourself in the body or doing a 7 point body scan using a chakra visualisation? I just read that back, I bet it sounds really bizarre to anyone not familiar. Heh.

Mintysocks that is amazing, I wish I could fit back into my jeans so much!  Enjoy your ring date with hubby.

So you had a blip but u could think of it as tapering a sugar addiction and having a doms day. You don't have to do the same level all the time :)

Thank you for the advice! I usually do a 10-minute body scan on the Calm app for my meditation sessions, the structure of it is definitely helpful for concentration, so even if I get off track then the next instructions help to bring me back (and the little stars at the end of every session are a great motivator as well!) I've been meaning to give yoga a go for years, it's just one of those things that kept getting lost in the shuffle; it's going on my to-do list for this week - time to make it happen! :D

Loona-thanks it's definitely different.  I know I wouldn't be pushing myself as hard, if I didn't have someone telling me to use the heavy weights or to do more reps. Normally I'd be like no this hurts I'm done, lol.

MintySocks- Congratulations that's a big accomplishment and a great step forward.

Ponyfan- it happens to us all.  Pops super addictive, I know I crave Mountain Dew all the time.  I don't keep it in the house to avoid it and I'm to cheap to buy it from a vending machine.

I worked with my trainer on Friday.  The new work out surprise was no break.  I went from work out A strait to workout B...  Thankfully it was arms/abs day even though I was super tired I managed.  Can't wait for tomorrow...

I drank a Coke Zero yesterday instead of regular Coke. It didn't taste as bad as I remembered but earlier today I wasn't feeling well. It probably didn't have anything to do with the Coke Zero though

Congrats kakenenterprise on completing your workout, I'm hoping I can still get my workout in today and still be on track for the 5 days a week workout.

Edit: I got my workout in. :)

I worked Saturday morning then had a very packed weekend of social stuff, kept the eating moderate yesterday but had pastries and a big dinner with wine today. Was a lot of fun. That is all. Ha ha no I need to get back on track tomorrow! I have 5 minute sun beds in winter so will do that tomorrow. I will need to cycle a lot anyway tomorrow to get around. I'm aiming to do my structured core and leg exercises and a run too! Will check in how I got on.

Ponyfan hope you're feeling better? I've heard the artificial sweeteners in coke zero might make u ill? What about the fruit tea with stevia idea instead?

I am feeling a lot better now. The only things I did differently yesterday was drinking a Coke Zero instead of a regular Coke and I also drank one packet of Emergen_C because the flu is going around. I don't usually drink diet drinks though. Maybe Coke Zero isn't the best substitute drink for me.  Where do you get the fruit tea? Is it the kind you brew or is it pre made?

Get a box of Bigelow or Celestial tea bags in Country Peach or Wild Berry Zinger, or anything similar. Fill a plastic pitcher 1/3 full of boiling hot water, steep 4 tea bags for 10 minutes. Add a few cups of ice cubes, enough to make the tea cold, then top off with more cold water. You can either sweeten by the glass or put sweetener straight in the pitcher. I use liquid Stevia drops. Trader Joe's has it, so do Kroger/Fry's/Fred Meyer, Whole Foods, tons of places. It also comes in packets like Truvia and by the box of powdered. Just to give you an idea, the liquid drops from Trader Joe's would take 30 drops to do a whole pitcher.

Stevia is SO GOOD because it's not chemicals that hurt your body, it's just the extract of a sweet tasting plant, but not sugar. I find artificial sweeteners like Splenda and the pink and blue packets cause MORE cravings and give me headaches. They've also been shown to be detrimental to weight loss because of cravings causing people to overeat without realizing.

There's also a fantastic soda pop made with stevia and natural ingredients called Zevia, and it comes in root beer, cream soda, cherry, grape, lemon/lime, cola, and maybe a couple other flavors. They are all clear, no artificial colors. I have one a day. Again I find those at Kroger/Fry's/Fred Meyer and also WinCo if you're in the northwest. I hope that helps!

Great job getting your workout in, Ponyfan!

Popping back in. Nothing serious, but not much better. Thank you Artemisia for your kind words. I got sick over the weekend, so I am behind. I feel I am drowning. I started a list of things that need to get done. I am behind on contest prizes, orders for crafts, and I have yet to touch my piano this we started:( I am check listing my life to get my head above water.

Taproot- I am learning a lot about meditation. This is cool. I know smells can help to relax. I use lavender when I have a hard time sleeping.

Artemesia- not a huge fan of fruit teas, but chi is a sweeter tea that is a good choice too:)

Ponyfan- we all have a skip day. Good that you kept getting a work out in:)

Mintysocks- there is sparkling fruit juice that are healthy and not surgery. That can help break the soda addiction. I have heard some have taken soda water and mixed it with fresh squeezed fruit.

Great job everyone. Keep it up. A new challenge will be up later today:)

*Sigh*  haven't even managed one day to complete my goals...

by the time the clock turns over to bedtime, and i still haven't gotten all my household chores done, it's "time to hunt the kiddo down and convince her to brush her teeth and stop jumping on the bed".

still haven't managed a packed lunch either because we don't cook large enough meals to have leftovers with, and taking prepared food from the fridge takes from what my child is supposed to eat. hubby has been sick since we got back from FL, so all he eats is ramen ....

Seems like the only way these things get done is if I come straight home from work and go into a mad tirade of washing and cleaning and putting away... which is NOT relaxing from my workday at ALL!  The last thing I want to do on my "off time" is any housework.

It may not work now but keep at it. You are making note of what is not working. That simple note is very important. It took me years to not binge on fast food. I would post and be so frustrated. But over time it got easier. You can reach those goals keep working at it. New routines are hard to get in place. You can do it:)

Challenge #2. Make one of your goals a focus this week. Simplify your goal and make it a priority this week.

I know piano should be my focus...but I am totally going to try and walk the rest of this week:) it could be cold so warm cloths for me:)

It can be so hard.  I've had a couple of days of errands and a conference and I spent some time with my bf last night.  As a result I ate coffee and walnut cake with him  and I've had no motivation to do any exercise.  Even though I could tell that he noticed I had lost weight and that he appreciated it.  My waist was down to 34" yesterday morning so I've lost 2" as long as I don't put it straight back on again!

I ate a lot of sandwiches today having wanted to stay off bread, but it was because I was out at a conference/tired.  I did start the day with my first veggie smoothie, having found the right attachment for my blender. This makes enough for three people:

2 tangerines
1 banana
Handful of grapes
1 carrot
glass of orange juice
teaspoon of turmeric

I think it would have been nice with ginger as well.  I felt all squeaky clean after that I can tell you! Which only lasted 2 minutes because it turns out that tangy healthy juices go really well with a bacon sandwich

At least I haven't binged or done anything extreme, just not enough exercise and a little too much doughy wheaty bread which no doubt makes my stomach and limbs look doughy and wheaty as well!

Gotta try for that run tomorrow morning before work.

ooo, for me the goal to focus on for Challenge #2 definitely has to be goal no. 2, as I still haven't yet even started working out  -_- I did have a look at yoga mats yesterday at least, and almost bought one, but luckily realised it would be too short (I'd need to so dome full laying down exercises for my back, so I need one that is at least the same length as my height,  but most probably even longer). I'd like to go and visit another shop tomorrow.
but I should be able to start without this a well, doing only those exercises that need a simple standing position. most of the ones for my sore shoulder are like that anyways.

I'm doing OK with my other 2 goals - I did skip the 2nd teeth-washing on Saturday, but all the other 6 days of the week went fine, so I'm trying to look at it as "6 days out of 7 is a definite improvement compared to zero out of 7". and on Monday I arrived home with a huge bag of fruits again, enough for the whole week, and (apart from a homemade muffin a colleague has given me yesterday) I have only eaten these as snacks since.

Loona I feel in the same boat with you. My goal was to work out 2x per week and still keep making excuses not to. I blame the freezing rain, but honestly I could run the stairs in my house, I just need to do it. Shoot for just once this week and work from there! That's what I'm going to do. Start small. Even five minutes.

So I haven't been for a run, but I got shin splints from fast walking in work shoes on Tuesday.  I did still more walking yesterday and a serious country walk today with a friend even though it was snowing! I think given how much I've had to cycle and walk around the last three days I'm doing pretty well.  Sadly because I've been doing it in work shoes to get between venues and my shins started playing up, I'll have to leave it for a few days before I can do any running or impact exercise.  I should stop walking for a few days and just cycle. I might try and swim over the weekend.

So my overall thing for the challenge will be healthy eating and mindfulness.  I have had a very busy week with commitments and will have a very busy weekend as well.  I am so tired tonight and would love to get takeout but I'm going to be good and make something for myself now.  I've had fruit and veggie smoothies every day this week and I think they are really helping to balance my diet and it's probably good to eat fresh plants anyway for anti-oxidants etc.  I am trying to stay mindful in my treatment of myself and also my interactions with other people and be very patient and considerate.

So last Sunday I felt some pain in my back near the end of my workout.  I finished my workout and thought it would just go away.  Nope, I tried a hot shower, and it just got worse as the day went on.  My fiance was nice enough to get me some icy hot and a heat bandage wrap thing (its amazing)  by the next day it turned into a less painful bruise.

I'm fine now, I walked once this week and I did a training session today.  After my workout I went to the fruit market and they had bags of bananas for $1.  So I bought 3 and started making breakfast for the next few months lol(they freeze for up to 3 months).  I made banana breakfast cookies and they are amazing, and they keep you happy till lunch.

It sounds as though you have a lot on your plate!  But you still need to to make time to take care of yourself.  I think it's worth getting cold if you know you can get into a hot bath when you get indoors.  A break from walking today for me.  I have travelled around a lot this week but still not been too bad with eating.  I managed a day where I felt I was considerate and mindful with others.  I'm planning healthy food shopping and some kind of workout tomorrow afternoon.  I will at least stretch out!

Feel better soon Ponyfan.

I am knitting, and have plans to work on crafts later day. I should find some form of work out...but there is more day light left.

I am working of a custom project for another pony. My first made to request project. So it's stressing me out a bit. I got the yarn together, and got it approved. Then there was a request for an added stitch to the project. So I had to learn a new stitch. Got it down, but now I have to sew the project. So more time and material. I am 60% done. Sent progress picture and not sure if she wants it longer or not. I had to improvise due to the complications of the project. If I made it longer and not like it, I run the risk of the stitches weakening and looking sloppy. Sigh. They are contacting me almost daily. I have not received payment, and I want to do good work, but man it's frustrating. There is language issues too. Whew. Here are some pictures.

Sorry to hear about the difficult commissioner Crowning_Glory13, hopefully the situation smooths out for you soon! Your work is really beautiful!

There have been some ups and downs this past week, on Tuesday I had a really bad day with my anxiety and ended up staying indoors the day after to cool off and relax (still got plenty of jobhunting done and made a start on a new art project, so the day wasn't wasted.)
For the second challenge, I decided to focus on the guitar and that's coming along in fits and starts. My chord changes are still painfully slow but I can pick up new rhythm patterns at the drop of a hat so it's not all bad.
Meditation has been going really well, it's definitely helping me to worry a lot less overall and see things in perspective. It's a good feeling to have a bit more calm going on.

Taproot that sounds great. This might relate to guitar. When I have a quick chord change or a hard spot in piano I use a MN metronome. Start super slow to get the movement. Progress the speed until the movement in natural. It's tedious but it helps me.

Thanks for the compliment

Wow CG, those knitting projects look great. I love the style of the longer one on Majesty, very regal.

A tip I've read for request orders is to get a portion of the price as a down payment - even half, something to at least cover your materials in case they decide to back out last minute. Some people I've seen get the full price up front, or if it's something that you wouldn't be able to resell if they back out.

It's hard to get into the mindset of, especially when you are starting out (or if it's someone you know personally), but it's definitely a good habit to get into from the start. For example - I had a friend ask me if I'd made her SIL a Hogwarts Express (like in my siggy), and she'd pay me. I told her the price I'd want, and how long it would take....never heard back. Certainly glad I didn't just jump into making it.

That train is so awesome. I started with the idea of prepayment. The start was a coat like I did for Majesty. I knew I could sell it if she back out. Then the request for the dark yarn came. I still figured I could resell if the worst happen...then it was the requested trim. And then I regretted saying a pre payment. Sigh you live and learn. So far they are happy. Just finishing up the project and hope it is sold.

Well done everyone!

Kakenterprise sorry to hear about your back.. I have to be careful of my knees and shins, it can be really demoralising. Your workouts and what you are doing with food sounds really amazing! I didn't know you could freeze bananas.  Do you defrost them and then use them in baking?  I would have thought they would go black.  I'd be interested to freeze them if they are on special offer so I can use them for smoothies.  Often some of them are quite old before I get around to using them.

Crowning Glory, I hope this works out well for you and is worth it in the end.

Taproot I know how that goes, sometimes I find it hard to go out because every interaction with other people seems hard.  I have always been a bit awkward socially but I'm in a really competitive environment at the moment and I feel very anxious.  The silly thing is it wasn't meant to be like this it was meant to be part of my support package.  I think that my current situation is making me feel progressively worse again so I'm trying to change things.

Hey Kiwi that sounds like great advice.  I do so admire how creative everyone is on here.  More in fact that people have the motivation to do it because most of us are creative really, but that's not so important if you never do any work! I so rarely manage to make things.

So for me I have managed not to eat takeaway however I have eaten waffles and fried eggs and shop-bought coleslaw (read drowned in mayo) and things that I know aren't the best for me.  Not way too much, but somehow a few too many packets of crisps.  I've had a really busy week and to be honest I'm feeling really burnt out right now.  I have no idea what to eat later.  It's cold and I have a vegetable smoothie in the fridge but I really don't fancy it! I think I'm having fish pie tonight.  Again not the healthiest.  This snowy weather makes me want to eat fatty food and not exercise.  I don't know how I can get my butt in gear.  I'm also having a bit of an anxiety peak as you can probably tell because I'm rambling on.  A swim tomorrow morning should help!

It's OK to have an off day Artemisia. Being conscious of these choices help later on. It's cold here too and I want fatty foods....or more hearty foods. Our body's want it because it's cold and the body wants us warm. Fat is warm. I take a vitamin D supplement. It helps my energy and cravings. I do feel it helps with my winter time blues when we have little sunshine.

I took a walk today. It was short maybe 15min. It was super windy and cold, but I did it:) I have my request ed project almost finished. I feel so much better. I finished another possible request, and I think it's adorable. So if they do want it, I just might.

So I have not touched my piano since we started. Bad me. My husband saI'd I could get a pony from Toys R Us. I have to do online. No store near me. I put the order in today. I am making that a treat. So I have to play piano each day till it arrives. If not, I have to leave it in its dark cold package.

There is also Photo Finish Mini at walmart that I really want. So if I play piano for the rest of the month I can get her. Not sure what will happen if I don't. I just need to bribe myself at this point.

A new challenge will be posted Monday. These challenges are optional. I use them for motivation, or a different way of thinking. Good luck with them.

banana breakfast cookie recipe-
http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2014/01/28/banana-chocolate-chip-breakfast-cookies/

Artemesia Floc- I put old bananas that are super ripe in the freezer all the time.  The outside will turn black but the inside will still be good.  There great to use in smoothies too.  I recommend taking them out of the freezer and letting them sit in the sink to defrost.  I've noticed that using frozen bananas can change the texture of the recipe.  For example with the cookie recipe I posted if I use fresh bananas the cookies turn out crisper.  If I use frozen bananas they turn out softer, booth are tasty.
I definitely think it's harder to motivate oneself during the winter months.  I just want to curl up and eat junk food.

Crowning_Glory13- Your pony wear looks great.  I wish I knew more about sewing I can make a basic scarf and that's it.

I spent most of my weekend cooking in the kitchen.  I trained Friday and Sunday.  Saturday was my cheat day, I usually have a cheat day once every two weeks.  I cooked Valentines day dinner, clam chowder and I made the desert the night before (cheese cake truffles yum).  I also made a few more batches of breakfast cookies.

Crowning_Glory13-looking forward to the upcoming challenges.

I got my walk in..30min so happy. It was nice our so that helped:) got caught up on my commissions so I feel so much better. I have one request to start, but all the hard stuff has been taken care of. I made a new position you coat that I love..kinda sad to see it go. Made a list for me to do when I am off work...I might come out with a good day today:)

Challenge #3 tell us what has been successful. Did you try bribing yourself...I am trying that this week. Maybe you started doing your day differently. Post about something successful. We want to know what you have done well. It does not have to be goal related. This is about thinking ositive about the work you have done.

My success comes from hosting healthy pony. I feel comfortable knowing I am not the only one struggling. I feel inspired when I see other succeed in healthy pony.

Not doing so hot. Eating junk food, no piano:(, and no walk. I had an event over my lunch that was super important to me. It was great. I am scared to play around people. I have head phones, but I feel nervous still. I got photo finish mini today. Adagio Dazzle is not online or a decent price so I went with photo. So no playing until piano happens. I have state fright with piano so bad. I have had years of tragic moments that lead to this. Just gotta keep pushing through

Thanks for the tip; I'll give that a go! There might be a metronome built into my tuner but I haven't quite gotten used to using it just yet. And you're welcome! :)

For the third challenge, I've been focussing on a job interview that happened this afternoon. It went better than expected, despite the sheer amount of worry I had about it beforehand, the preparation definitely paid off. I rewarded myself for that by watching every last music video my favourite band have made thus far (they just released a new single yesterday and it got me a bit overly excited) and that in turn has sparked some ideas for an art project that has been in the doldrums for ages, so I'm going to make some time to revive that this week as well. :D

No walk today. I have funky beating heart. It's really it's own drummer. I have this for 15 years so I am used to it. Wiser case senerio,I pass out from it. I can normally tell if it is going to happen before. So I stayed home sick from work. It is cheaper to loose a day of work, than an ambulance drive. Every job I have freaks out and I tend to loose hours or the job itself. They find a way to let me go, and still claim it is not due to my heart. So I lie about it and call in sick:( when I do have bad day it takes me a few days to bounce back. Stairs are hard for me. But I can trudge through my work day. I am super tired.

Still no luck with piano. I am setting time aside sat and sun to play for 30min, but push longer. I am catching up on commissions. Trying out a new wings idea.

I will have a photo contest going:) I love doing contests. Mostly I never win them so I just start them. It is called Mr. Universe. Pageant for boy ponies.

My success comes from all my failures. I have tried so many things, talent contests, self teaching, trying out wings, different jobs, the list goes on. But right now I like me.I want to change things and improve but who doesn't?

It's been a bit quiet. I have been off and on sick. I push through a lot, so when I can not come into work, it means that yes I have been throwing up since 4:00am. Still worked begged me to com in on Friday. I work with infants to 7 year olds. I had to break away from time to time to vomit. So sorry moms and dads who have sick kids now. It just frustrates me. Many of the people I work with don't show up because they don't feel like it. So those that shouldn't be at work feel obligated to do so.

Do no piano. I got behind on knitting. I had to finish some requests, so I used my day to catch up on those. so yes I am showing them off:p hahah thanks for letting me to do so.

Mentally I feel like poop I think I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed.  I've been doing good with the workouts, but right now I'm lucky to get a little cardio in, once a week....  When it gets warmer out (and I'm not working through lunch) I think I'm going to try taking a short walk outside.
Work has been a drain, I'm not sleeping and I'm kind of restless.

My success comes from me wanting to better myself.  I'm feeling really motivate this time around.  I also have someone helping lets me so I know I'm on the right track.

Congrats on finishing your knitting projects Crowning_Glory 13

Still haven't worked out except for being way more active around the house... spontaneous fits of dancing with my kids or doing chores faster than I have to. I guess it all counts. Into a new jeans size, so that's pretty awesome! Still haven't cheated on my food plan, which absolutely shocks me. I keep having these vivid dreams about cheating, like eating an entire cake and wishing I hadn't. Then I wake up and realize I didn't actually do it! LOL

I'm sorry for everyone who has been ill and
/or having a poop time at work. These things are big. I'm in two minds how I feel about this but I'm planning to leave museums for a while. I found a job in plant science which uses my original academic qualifications. It is full time and bit better paid than an 'unskilled' job. I'll be testing new breeds of ornamental plants, mostly  Chrysanthemums. My Grandad would have been pleased :)

Thank you! I've been applying for permanent work for just over two years since my last permanent contract and I just needed a win. There are so few permanent jobs in museum work and I am worried about my future. There have been a lot of changes recently in that sector. But the main problem was I found out that one of my referees had been letting me down. She told me in person and in an email that she was happy to give me a reference and happy to help but at some point decided to stop bothering. I don't know how many jobs I missed out on because of this but as soon as I switched out this reference for a new one I was offered a job. I don't know if it was jealousy, something I said or just meaningless sabotage. I'm feeling a bit down about it because someone treated me badly but also because I have done a lot of training and learning for museum work over the last four years and I have had some fairly big successes, but then I worked a lot harder for my plant science qualifications so I guess overall I should be pleased. In a way I'm just pleased to have a job because the interviews have been killing me and I know how isolating it can be to be out of work.

Are you feeling any better?

That's great advice about the cardio I think I need it too!

In my life experience, some people are just nice to you, or they have lost effort and it shows other places, and people who just don't care. But without that struggle this victory would not be so great:) not everyone you meet is awesome, and not everyone is great. You just hope for the best.

Hi, long time no post. I posted in the original topic. I don't know if this is still the same thing.

I'd been avoiding the scale for quite some time.. And just now I jumped on it and I about cried. I've gained back every single bit of weight I was lost when this challenge was starting.

I have not drank any pop, which means I at least kept to that goal. =) I've just been eating a lot of sugary stuff. Needless to say, I think it's time to cut back.

Got my walk in...woot! 20min. Making a list of what I need to do today. Sigh...my hope is piano. I would love to move the piano to my room, but it is too small:( I just have a hard time feeling confident even when people can't hear me. If I just practice more I could do more accompanying and make way more money...but darn that fright.

Here is a hint.
1. Started at age 8, teacher told me my recital was bad, because I am horrible at practicing...yes that is true, but there are better ways to tell an 8 year old. My sister took piano too, but since she was old she always told I stink.
2. Quite aND started to self teach at 14. By peers I was told too dumb to play.
3. College went for music. Had to pass a piano exam. It is performance based. I started to struggle and tried to get back, ended up repeating. Professor threw his copy of the music on the floor stormed out if room and I failed the exam.
4. Played piano for a student singer. She did not win, I was blamed for the student singers loss.
5. Played a random gig who fired me after my shift was over. They made me quit my job for this gig.

So that's what a battle each time. I know only my husband an in laws are around me, but I hit those keys and remember all of it.

I did have a thought, after watching MLP EG Rainbow Rocks. I could see if I could learn the key guitar like Rarity. I would use it for traveling gigs....but I have to get piano up to participate for that.

Sorry for the long story. Thanks for reading.

Awww I really feel you on the insecurities about music. I think I finally got my confidence by recording on my own at home with a digital recording unit. I sent a song to my bf after we broke up and we got back together within a month. I knew it was good objectively but only by recording I convinced myself that I could perform. Still haven't done a studio session with him though :eep:

My Dad always discouraged me from singing but only when he heard Col's studio mix he admitted it was good :)

I just found Coloratura song online, so I hope to learn that as inspiration...just have to have the time to print it out.

OK. Challenge #4: reward yourself. But tell us how. It does not need to be a purchase. It can be simple like, I went for a walk today, so I let myself more relax time.

Funny, like Artemesia Floc, I have gravitated toward recording. I have problems concentrating, so I can practice and practice and have it completely under my fingers, but mess it up. I can not play consistently enough to be a live performer. Once I discovered that decent recording is not too expensive I bought myself a microphone. But then recording has its own unique problems - You have to be very precise, but I believe that is much more possible for me than running through entire pieces perfectly/near perfectly.

Now I'm in school for music again. I'm going for Musicology, but due to lack of undergraduate Musicology programs in my area I'm currently in a Musical Arts degree, which requires me to me to take lessons and be a part of a major ensemble. I'm the only oboe player at my school. And my lessons instructor is wanting to put me in a trio and have a recital in April.

Needless to say, I'm frightened. I don't even know how to handle it, because if I say no the trio can not happen, and I'm not sure I *can* say no. *sigh*

Huh, I'm super sorry for disppearing, everyone! I did not forget about Healthy Pony, and still tried to keep up with it, but work and life got pertty busy recently, and I just did not manage to get here...

Toothbrush adventures are going fine, I managed to brush my teeth 2 times 7/7 days all last week. I still hate it, and I doubt this will ever change (I still get the gag reflexes and choking), but I've managed to pick up a mindset of "it's only about 5 mins a time, I can bear with it for so little time".
We got spoiled with fruit gums and jelly last week (first my husband came home from a business trip and brought home some, then a shop that sells a bigger-than-usual variety of veggie gums had a weekend sale on everything), so I eat more of that recently, and less fruits, but I still substitute at least one snack time with fruits instead of candy/chocolate per day.
Working out still hasn't started, I'm horrible :cloud: first it was super extra overtime for days, then I did not feel well (flu-like symptoms - luckily I got out of it quickly and it did not worsen, but with all those limb pains I did not feel like doing anything but sit or stay in bed, working out was just not an option), and after that I got hit with some monthly recurring, ahem, lady pains  but that also ended around mid-last week,  so I do not have any other excuse for the second half of last week/beginning of this week other than being lazy... the one thing I did was digging out and printing a set of exercises I memorised and typed up back when I was prescribed therapeutic exercise because of my hurting shoulders, caused by office work.

I did to other things I feel happy about, and some of them were also candidates to be included in my goals, so I do not feel completely wasted. For instance, I did some organising, housecleaning, and finally managed to get a hold of a wardrobe with shelves into which I can finally pack my clothes that were sitting in boxes (which were in the way, scattered around the flat) ever since we moved here last May. It's not yet finished, and my husband still isn't really able to see where the freed-up spade is,  but I can already see it and know what needs to be put where. Hopefully in a few days the flat will look a little more clean and spacious.

Loona, that's interesting. I have a gag reflex, but it doesn't seem to bother me when I'm brushing my teeth. It does during dental services, though. =/ It mainly prevents me from eating a lot of foods because they can't get past my gag reflex. Even foods I typically like, if they're made just slightly off I won't be able to eat them. It's so embarrassing.

I'm happy for you, being able to brush your teeth when that was an issue.  :)

In my experience sometimes you just gotta go for it. If you fall, you caneed always build with. Maybe you will be great. If not obeisance just might not be your instrument.

Did you mean oboe?  Was that an autocorrect deal?

Oboe is the third instrument I've played in school. It isn't the instrument at this point.

Oh yes my beloved auto correct. I do a lot on my phone...sigh. mine likes to correct things even when I spell them right. I just need to take the time and proof read again...and yes I meant oboe. I had to correct oboe 3 times to get my phone to take it...arg.

Short walk today on my break. Stomach is not doing well so I did not want to go to far.

Loona I am with you. I have yet to do my piano. I was all excited last night, but chicken out:(

On a good note is my crafty sales are going up. If I can find a studio, I can start teaching...I am so close to going part time for work.

Crowning_Glory 13 , don't give up on playing the piano even if other people tell you can't do it. A lot of people didn't think I would accomplish a lot but they were wrong.

I need some help staying motivated. I thought I could do this but getting sick really threw me off and now I find my motivation to work out and not drink a lot of extra Coke is severely lacking. I also can't seem to find a reward that works for me. I know it doesn't have to be a purchase. I thought at first that telling myself I could watch a new movie or something would work but it didn't.

It's hard to self motivated. My reward is staring at me. I have some ponies that need cleaning...I love to do. I keep them in view so I can reward myself.

I have also put candy in a jar. I taped a note that said my weight at the time and this is for a job well done. I made myself get on the scale. If I lost or prove I did good with goals I got to have a treat.

I love blind bags. I used to use them. I had a choice. Go and get fast junk food, or run into the store for blind bag.

I would also track on a calender. I would make short notes of what I did. It is also why I pop on here and mention my walks and lack of piano. I physically see if I really tried, and I can give myself an award, or maybe show some better effort.

Hope this hepls:)

My hubby and I walked this evening, so bonus:) working on my big knitted blanket...well that's going slowly. Won't hit piano tonight, but I am getting excited to do so. So maybe I will over come the shy:)

So far I got my walk in, and I am working on my knit project. So I am feeling good. I already have my reward so nothing for this 3 day track record:) I am OK as I got the reward early. Still need to get the piano in...not today as I have to work late...but I am rewarding myself once I do play

So walked 3 days so far this week. We are in a winter storm, so no walk today. I am trapped with 9, 3 year olds...for work. My sanity is broken. I want to cry and scream all at once. Sadly I should not be on my own, but my managers like to cut corners. Blah. I have been working on a large knitting project so that is a plus. I have more crafty things to finish, but feeling very stressed and unmotivated.

Thanks Crowing_Glory13. I am still having a really hard time getting motivated now. I think part of the reason is I'm so tired in the evenings that I just don' t have much energy for working out. I know I need to be healthier but I didn't think it would be this hard to stick with it.

I don't really have much to inspire others with this week, I've not done a good work out for a while just gentle exercise. I've been getting very anxious but putting my energy into stuff like sorting out utilities, sorting out paperwork, cupboards and storage and trying to get on top of the garden. Those are good things but it feels really lonely doing this stuff alone. Doing household stuff really draws attention to the fact that I'm not sharing it with anybody.

Bf just told me he is working till Monday. I had assumed he would be around over the weekend but no definite plans, so now I'm at a loose end. No one's fault. I know i need to think of it as a good opportunity to work on myself. I'm getting flabby around the middle again in spite of all the 'everyday' exercise, must be stress and what I'm eating as well. Will run tomorrow but haven't been for 2 weeks so it will hurt! Will at least get out of breath and clear my lungs.

I nearly forgot, how will I reward myself? I have some ponies to clean so I might try and have a bit of a pony day :)

I've had a bit of an up-and-down week as well, just about managed to keep up with my goals but I had to really make myself do it because my motivation was pretty much through the floor.
I got my eyes tested despite my desire to put it off (bad experience with a previous optician) and even went there on the day through a storm that broke my umbrella, but the plus side is that my eyes haven't gotten any worse, so there's no need for new glasses just yet. The new optician was really nice as well!
I also got another job interview, which would've been great if the interviewer actually had a professional approach. I got shunted from office to office, handed over from one staff member to another. When someone finally saw me, he only asked me about 4 questions, none of which were the essentials like 'What do you know about the company?' or 'What can you bring to the job?', he didn't even ask me if I had any questions for him at the end. Considering the sheer amount of preparation I put in, it would've been nice to be given more than a couple of minutes to show what I have to offer. It's a good job I have a lot of other irons in the fire, really. :/
I'm going to take the weekend off to relax as my reward, there's a coconut face mask and a hair treatment that are looking very appealing right now!

Ooooh human spa day...how nice:) I can not stand unorganized or unprofessional interviews. It makes me feel that if you are that ill prepared how uncoordinated is the job. That's why I am working to be my own boss. I have a high level of professionalism and if it's not met I either get lazy or frustrated. Glad you did not put all your eggs in one basket, taproot.

I have gone traveling over this weekend...so not an opportunity to walk, not near a piano, but I took my knitting...Sadly I took only the 3 colors of yarn I needed....yep I need a 4th color...and I had to special order this color. It is not my week:p

Taproot I've had some awful interview experiences, it's so frustrating that they just waste people's time and effort like that.Glad you're looking forward to your treatments.

It's so windy, cold and grey here! Oh and it's just started raining.  So I made chutney and flapjacks today, neither of which you could really call healthy! I'm glad I managed to do anything today, I just feel so lonely.  But my friends asked me over for Sunday lunch tomorrow so I'm happy that I'm not at a loose end all weekend. I think I'll watch a film and then get up and about again and do some yoga and wash myself and some ponies.

I started a new set of workouts on Friday.  It drained me completely.  I thought I was fine, so I  went shopping and ran some errands.  I had a protein shake and later I snacked on a bar.  By about 8 I still hadn't eaten dinner, I lied down and passed out till 6:45 the next day... I felt sick all morning (super off all day).  Won't be doing that again, lesson learned.

Muller husband gave me some great advice this weekend. "1 fattening meal will not make you fat. 1 light meal will not make you skinny."

Makes me feel better when I have an off day....or this case an off weekend. I did not pack enough yarn for the weekend, so once again I am behind.

I took a longer walk today at work. Proud on that process. Finishing break with knitting, so far so good.

Challenge time! Challenge #5!
Try to do each of your goals 3 days in a row. This is harder one. Needed to pump some fires here:)

Walk...check
Crafts....check
Piano...let's hope so:)

OK stoke my fire!

1. I have a 36 inch waist and I'd like a 30-32 inch waist.
2. I'd like to tone up
3. I'd like to increase my energy levels.

So far I have gone from a 36" waist to a 33" waist. So I'm about half way there.

I should point out that I'm hardly doing anything, just a little but it's consistent.  I'm not avoiding high calorie foods but I am avoiding trans fats and artificial sugar so I'm avoiding takeaways.

I just got back from a run and did some leg exercises at the end.

Number 3 has been scuppered by too much sugar and caffeine this week.  So more to work on!

Tomorrow I do core and Wednesday another run, meantime no processed sugar!

Kiwi I can not wait to see..I need pictures:)

Way to go Ponyfan on making a different choice. I get cravings too, so I feel you!

Did my walk today. Got some knitting do e...but no piano. It's hard. I work so early in the morning, and most of the time my 8 hour work day turns to almost 10 hour day. They never let me out on time, and they get mad because I have overtime pay. But 8 hours with about 12 toddlers is exhausting....but each time I post my piano gets closer and closer to a priority.

It's snowing and...I do not feel like walking. To be honest I am sad and a little scared. Last night some of my fingers in my right hand lost feeling....they are functional, but I can't feel. So drawing, cutting, and even typing is difficult. I can not knit due to it. I need touch to play piano...I did try this morning and I couldn't do twinkle little star:( I was inspired this morning. Hopefully I can get feeling back soon. I am putting my hand in a brace....my hope is detaining any doctors visit. I had a gift for my mom...but now I can't finish it for her birthday this weekend:(

Well done on your walk! Is there any chance you've been overdoing the knitting? I hope you are resting it so it will go back to normal soon.  Otherwise it may turn into an RSI (repetitive strain injury).  Eep that's just not fair. On a good note I have touched my piano. I am making my lefthand do more. That helps with independent hands for piano. Right now I am doing anything and everything to stay positive. I want to make a living off piano and crafts. I had it all planned out....now it's on hold....I hope it's not Permanente. I have hand brace to help but I am panic..

Ponyfan- I get it after a long day it's hard to go back out and workout.  I've fallen victim to eating dinner watching something and falling asleep, losing all my after work time.

They had a volunteer heath screening at work at the beginning of the week.  I took it this year and last year and I'm down 5 points in my cholesterol.

I did 2 cardio workouts this week and one training session so far.  I was hoping for some warmer weather so I could drag out my bike but I guess I'll have to wait a little while longer.

New challenge...it's time to take a moment and think.

Challenge #6 tell us why you are doing healthy pony.

I wanted to do healthy pony, because I missed having a discussion I felt I belonged to. I join topics or start my own, but I feel they just end or lack of response. Here I get to see people happy and doing good for themselves. I just feel I fit in here. I also stink at keeping me on task. So I use this to keep me on task...it is my favorite distraction.

I find it has such a beneficial affect on my sense of wellbeing and resilience to problems. What you're trying to do is really hard on top of a full time job working with other people's kids.  I know how exhausting it is because I did it and then quit after 6 or 7 years.  I'm amazed that you are managing to do aas much as you are.  I hope you are resting and not straining your hand while it heals.  Sending lots of good wishes.

Normally the sparkling water is too bitter for me. Let me know how the flavor stuff works out. Artemesia you are awesome keeping your work out going! I love hearing it because it makes me feel energized:)

As for me...can I have more poop things happen to me. A little over a year ago I nearly tore my platcious Fassa  (Bottom muscle/tendon of my foot) almost off the bone. So I did what the doctors told me. Got special shoe support and have been really good...it has flared up. So I have a sleeping boot and a walking boot. They are almost like casts, but i can still shower. So I am not pushing it because surgery is my only other option. Since it's a year after no work men's compensation. Not wanting to pay those bills at tjis time.

Between hands and foot, I am just waiting for the third issue to befall me:p I always feel things happen in 3s.

Doing my best to stay positive.

I played the piano today?..I know WOW! Hahaha. Not long but it was concentrated practice. I took the time to make sure I was practicing correctly:)

I did a work out today. Very small..buts it's better than nothing.

And I did so much with crafts today, that I feel less overwhelmed. But I have to work early in the mornings all next week because someone is gone...well I have been averaging leaving work 30-45 min after the time I am supposed to. So I really hope that won't be the case...but who knows. Not looking for ward to this week.

Way to go on your walk Ponyfan:)

I am in a big ugly boot for my foot:p work is not making me get a doctor's note for it:) Thank goodNess. I know if I went to a doctor it was either the boot or surgery. I hope to prevent any doctor bills.

Fingers in my right hand are giving me issues. I just have to take my crafting slowly with more breaks. If this keeps up, I will see a doctor for this.

Did my mini work out today. Since I can't walk I did find an alternative. It's super short, but it uses my core and I feel it from yesterday.

I did find coloratura's song so I am itching to play...not sure as people are home and I am shy:please

New Challenge. Find a different path. Or maybe you have found one:) maybe you thought running after your job was going to work out, but it is not. Maybe try running in the morning.

My walking is not working out so I am doing this mini core work out. Start small increments and build up. Ending goal is to do it twice a day:)

Weighed myself and realized I'm finally back down out of the 200's for the first time in three years! That's a total of 22 lbs. gone and 2 clothing sizes. 90% of my pain is gone. I'm so excited!
I've been away for a bit, but I've been reading all the posts and you guys are so encouraging to be around. I'm excited for your successes!!

I think we get negative every once in a while especially when life has dealt us several blows at once.

I am hoping I can keep my workouts up. I've had some extra time this week but worry about next week.

If you're in constant pain it affects your positivity, there's no doubt about it! I'm sorry about your injuries and your studio Crowning Glory.

Well done on your weight loss Minty Socks!  That is so impressive.  The thing I have wrong with my knee is called IT band Syndrome and I think if I lose weight I will be able to do more without it flaring up, which is a really good motivation.

Well done on your walking Ponyfan, you seem to be making a really consistent effort so far which is great. You must be feeling good about how well you are doing?

I didn't do core this week.  Someone is upsetting me and no actually two people have really upset me in the last week or two and I'm feeling a bit fragile.  I did go to a yoga class last night and we did some core work, however. I found it hard to relax though.

Sorry for the delay our power was out for 4 days.  There's nothing like taking a sick day, to play Zelda and then losing power at 12.  It was very cold but I managed to work out in the dark, lol..  I've been keeping up with working out but I let my studio get messy.  So I took a few hours and re organized/ cleaned it up.  I'm a bit of a messy person so having a nice and organized studio is a bit of a task.  I've noticed having a clean space helps my mental state.

Hubby and I are saving up for the switch and that game! Knowing another fan loves it...I should love it. Here is the main and most I mordant question. Do you get to play with Epona a lot? I have been obsessed with riding the horse since Epona was introduced...the last one with the bird made me sad:( still liked it though.

They don't give you Epona but you can unlock it with an amiibo.  That being said you can catch wild horses, my favorite one so far is blue and I gave him a mohawk.  You can ride them throughout the entire game.

Well done Ponyfan!

I have been sleeping a lot, probably too much to be honest. I don't really feel like maintaining my life outside work at the moment.  I live on my own and feel like I have no real incentive.  I get a lot of exercise just due to my lifestyle.  I do a yoga class on a Thursday but that's about the only evening activity I have going on.  I'm hopefully going to start therapy on Wednesday after work and maybe a driving lesson too.  So that means I will have something three nights per week. But I keep losing sight of why I'm bothering at the moment.

There is always a personal hobby we can help you find. I love to knit so that keeps me going as I can make gifts for friends and family, or even sell for extra pony cash. I have also picked up coloring books kids to adult and challenge myself to finish them. It calms me and I see the pretty pictures and go...wow I did tbat:)

You have some great things, and you bother because you are an amazing person. You might not see it...but I do:)

Thank you Crowning Glory,  I really appreciate your encouragement.  I feel a bit better today.  I'm trying to keep my energy levels up and stay upbeat.  I have loads of hobbies to be honest.  I've used every trick in the book to deal with loneliness in a healthy way and sometimes it just gets on top of me.  I'm heartbroken at the moment.  I found someone I thought was special but he isn't interested in a serious relationship.  I split up with him three weeks ago, we had been together a year.  I went to see him on Sunday becasue I felt lonely and I missed my friendship with him.  Then I felt bad.  I can tell he feels bad too.  That is basically the problem.  I don't want to be around other people at the moment so I am getting very lonely.  I know I shouldn't see him precisely because he's the only person I want to see and that's unhealthy.  So I need to go through a period of being very lonely until I can accept that it's over and get past it.  Sorry to turn this into a WYP but I don't want to post a separate  thread about this, I feel so sick about it I just want to deal with it quietly ish.

I did some leg raises and core this evening.  Not sure why I found the motivation.  I think it's only because I'm planning to look good when I see him again in a month or two.  So I'm clearly not getting over it at all!

BIG HUGS splits are so hard. No worries on where you post this. This is about being healthy. If that means you kind of let some issues out to feel better, this is the place to do it:)

Sad time is really all that helps with a split. If I could go cross country I would pop in and say hi. It is ok to be sad and cry. Just remember you are awesome. Try a silly movie. It gives me some help when I I feel lonely...sometimes even married can have lonely moment:)

Work is kicking my butt...so I have been a lazy butt:please not a great choice. Oh well.

Thank you  It's so exhausting working with kids, I don't know how anyone does it! I would go swimming but last time the chlorine set off my asthma.  Did you have another go at that yoga channel at all? I find it's good for my energy levels.  I'm completely pooped today and the weather isn't helping! Sleet here.  My friend is coming over later so I will have a quick tidy up after work and gee myself up a bit for her.

Have not done any more yoga. Working with kids is hard, but I do enjoy moments. I have been puked on and pooped on and more. But just seeing a child struggle breaks my heart. So when I can give them comfort or even teach them new things it just warms my heart:) and many of them call me the pony lady. My purse is full of them. I bring a few for them to play with:) I would be less exhausted if my staff stepped up and not undermine Wachovia other, and my boss got organized with what training I need. I take control of my stuff so I ask for what paperwork is needed. They tell me no and then a month later threaten to fire me because I do not have the training done. That's the struggle:please but I have a job. Just got to work on my dream job.

OK this girl has been lazy...come on healthy pony peeps...start posting:) hahaha. That is for me too:)

I did get some days of walking in. No piano:( but a lot of crafts:p I finished my present for my mother in law. So I am happy cause her birthday is in April! Working on a second project, and I am starting to prep my knitting patterns for sale:) these are patterns I have made up:) they are my complicated patterns that for me to make I would charge $50- $60. They are awesome, but very time consuming and attention to detail. Hence giving someone a chance to just buy the pattern and they can make it:) not sure what to charge yet.

I finished a huge lot of Flutter pony wings today:) I do not make replicas...I have no idea how. I make my own glitter designs. I have them up on ebay. The new ones will be there either this evening or sometime in the week.

Fun story. I did a holiday swap with an amazing pony friend her. I totally feel I was not very good on my end. So I have been planning to make a goody bag for her. Well she contacted me and wanted to do the same. We send each other PMs from time to time. She also mentioned that she wanted to stop eating so many sweets and loose some weight. So we are now on a 6 week swap:please we are contacting each other once a week to tell each other about our week progress. I am going to add a goodie to her box each time she has a positive thing in a week. It's kind of nice to spread the healthy pony vibe. I also told her I better do something super good to get a pony in my box:) yeah rewards.

Sorry this is long...but I have not been posting well. We have just about 1 month and this round is done!!!! So here is the last challenge. PUSH YOURSELF!!! Yup make this last month count. Let's work overtime:) we can do it!

I am making a goal for myself for you. I have been failing at piano. But I found Coloratura song. I want to play this song, and post me playing it for you guys:) not sure how yet, but I will figure it out. Hope I can reach this goal.

I do want to send out some goodies to my participants. Just my way of saying thank you. If you want to get a thank you...please pm me your address:)

Sorry so long:) ok let's push ourselves to reach those goals:)

It sounds like you are doing some really great things Crowning Glory! Sadly my waist is back up to 34" but I have had a lot of changes recently and overall my body is firmer.  I want to get down to 30" waist so I think I will make a real effort to cut sugar out of my diet for the next 4 weeks and see if I can get it nailed.  I really want to get back into those Donna Karan 1980's jeans before a party I'm going to on the 22nd April!

Good luck Crowning Glory!

I managed no cake or biscuits yesterday but I did did have half a bread roll with honey and a banana.

Today I ate a cinnamon swirl for breakfast which is like a sweet pastry, but that's it so far for sweet things today. I have just made chicken curry for dinner and I'm not sure how 'afters' will go.  One thing about splitting up with Colin is that I really don't have much of an appetite.

Walking is going good. I wish I could find my foot reader thing so I can try and push myself on steps taken. It's raining so no walk today. Knitting going very well. I gothink the ok from hubby as my favorite yarn is going on a huge sale:) I use it in everything. Just wish my sparkly yarn would do that:) I have not done piano:( sad that this whole time, I have only played once. I do have a possible piano studio set up, so that will put a fire under my butt hopefull. I have been rewarding myself with opening EG minis. I bought them on sale, but hid them unless I started working better on my goals:) not sure what I will do if my piano practice ever suceeds.

Post Merge: March 30, 2017, 09:08:28 AM

Last night I played for 45min. I started and quit after like 15min. My kitty loved it, but I had heard phones so she just snuggled. Later on my father unlawfully went out side, and husband was out of the room. So I jumped on to the piano. My kitty sat next to me and purred the whole time. I never realized how much she loved it. My dog came over and started singing with me. My husband even came around and  and u did not fall apart for 10min. That was a record. I just might have to figure out how to have my kitty around to get me motivated.

Thanks Kiwi:) Ponyfan you are doing so well. Ponyfan...do you have the book Led Miserable? It has not been an easy read so far. Just curious:)

I have been doing very good this week. I played piano 2 days this week. 45min and 30min session, so I averaged 10min a day. It's a vast improvement from 1 day. I do hope to push to 3 days or average 15min a day. I am doing more knitting and finished 3 projects this week. 1 is not show yet as I am adding it to a swap. This might be dangerous to post, but does anyone have a rainbow curl ringlet? I can totally work on her curls. I will post some of my projects once I have a collection. I did get 3 days of walking in. It's been raining. I do need to stop snacking with the kids at the daycare...i tend to over do it.

It won't be long and April will be over and so will Healthy Pony. Keep working hard everyone.

If you want a thank you prize for healthy pony PM me your address. This is something I want to do:) thanks

Thank you Crowning-Glory. :)  I've been trying hard to walk every day but I didn't get my exercise in today.  You're doing well also. It can be hard to stick with it and keep trying,

I have two copies of Les Miserables. One is a condensed version and the other is the full unabridged version. I've read the condensed version but not the full one. I heard that there are a lot sidetracks from the story in the unabridged version that make it difficult to read at times. Someday I want to read the full version though.

I got a free basic fit bit from work.  The darn thing says you should walk 10,000 steps a day.  I've made it once( yesterday) it frustrates me seeing how little I move around during the day.  I honestly don't think there's much I can do about it.

Beside that small rant everything else is going pretty good.  My work out got upped the other day, while it was a challange I made it through and I'm still alive.

I played piano and sang today. I forgot how much my dig loves to sing with me..so need it on video. I am slowly piecing myself back together. I am trying to inspire weight loss and knitting but I can't find a knitting pattern. I will pay, but so many just show me a picture. I need some details like what skills do I need, or figure out weight adjustments. I would hate to make doll dress when I wanted it for me...sigh. I really need to put focus on me. We only have a short time left. I am doing another 3 month round of healthy pony. It helps me out, and if I am left alone...well I will just talk to myself;p

Crowning_Glory13 - Do you do 10 hour days every day or do you work a 4 day week?
Glad to hear your playing some piano.  I used to be able to knit a scarf.  I even managed to poke myself in the eye with a knitting needle, lol.

I'm not sure if I'll make it out tonight for a workout. I knew people would be over at the house so I stopped at TRU and took a long.. very long walk.  It doubled my steps for the day and I got to look at all the toys with no one rushing me.   I think I'm going to try to make that a more regular after work stop.

Sometimesi used to visit TRU in the evenings to go for a walk as well.

So I started losing weight again, by cutting out white bread. Actually the real reason is I have a crush on someone ha ha. That's my usual reason tbh.

I average 90-100 in two weeks. But that has now changed! On a sad note a dear friend has become very ill. He is in a lot of pain and confined to a wheelchair. Send extra prayers for him. Well he can no longer teach piano, and has revered his students to me. So now I can go part time and do what I love...i better get to practicing. Not fair to be the teacher that barks orders to practice and not do it themselves:)

I need to add...poo no TRY near me...what a great motivation to work out

Will do.  Sorry to hear your friend is ill but glad you have a fresh motivation to play.  You're obviously very passionate about your music so I hope it goes well

I walked for quite a while today. :) I'd be up for another round of healthy pony. I need to keep up healthy habits and having a thread like this were we can discuss our successes and failures helps keep me motivated.

Keep at it everyone. :)

This sounds like an awesome idea! Wish I'd seen it back when it was starting. I need to loose some weight and have projects my un-medicated (and technically unofficial) ADD keeps interfering with; this might keep me more on task. :) Will you be starting another one of these when this one is completed?  :D

On a sad note a dear friend has become very ill. He is in a lot of pain and confined to a wheelchair. Send extra prayers for him. Well he can no longer teach piano, and has referred his students to me.
Oh dear! I'm sorry to hear this! Gratned the referrals must be nice, but I hope your friend is able to recover! :(

Crowning_Glory13- sorry to hear about your friend but I'm happy you get more piano time in.  I don't know how you pull off those hours.

I didn't make it to the gym this week but I went for another walk the other day.  I went to Walmart looking for pony exclusive that I think is a myth at this point.  But I did find an Inkling boy world of Nintendo toy so I was thrilled.

I'm feeling super bloated and agitated today but I still made it to my training session this morning.  Now I have 0 motivation to do anything and I'm just sulking around the house.

Yeah...holidays tend to make me over eat...blah. I am starting to panic. I told my job that I need to go to part time, so I can teach music lessons. They are not the nicest people. I have been with them since Sept, completed training outside of work unpaid (not sure how that is legal, but went with it), missed 1 day of work due to illness, 1 day to severe ice storm (almost went off road in a SUV) and showed up on time and made little to no complaints about the hours. Well I am getting paid more than the other girls. It was negotiated. There is talk from my managers that the owners will just let me go. Kind of scared. I did have an interview with a different location, but I am waiting and seeing what happens. I am up front so the back up job knows what is going on, and i know they still can pass me up. So its going to be scary. I just wish they would say yah or nah so i could move on.

April is almost Over!  Our healthy pony is almost at an end...sigh. but I will be starting again on May 1st. I will post sign ups here once it is up. I like to make each round a bit different so not to get board and reach others interest.

Remember to treat yourself. You all have been working hard. You all deserve it. I do wish to send you a reward from me:) just my way of saying thanks for all your support. You just have to pm me your address. I am running behind so they will be sent later. I will pm you when I gave sent. Only a few more days to go!

It sounds scary Crowning Glory but I'm glad things are moving forward. Fingers crossed things balance out in your favour.

Well done Ponyfan!

I'm feeling quite toned in spite of far too much pizza this weekend and plan to carry on with my diet.

MMM pizza....

I hope it all works out Corwning_Glory.

It was a little bit cold, but yesterday I went for a bike ride.  It was so amazing to be outside.  I wish I could have biked longer but it was already pretty late and my ears were freezing.

I can not get over these positive posts you ponies. Not only towards me, your fellow ponies, but above all yourselves. That makes healthy pony worth it for me. I am having good and bad days. One day my job is like yup we are going to work with you and the next day I feel it could be my last. There is just a lot of change going on that has me worried. I am working on advertising for students....I have not gotten 1 yet. I hope I can get one. It would put my mind at ease. Partime income is hard to live off of for a long time. Piano still is not progressing. So I am working to figure out why. I know with part time work I will have more time to attempt.

I have started another sign up for Healthy Pony http://mlparena.com/index.php?topic=385828.new#new
Hope to see you there:)

One work out is still better than non, good job Ponyfan.

I trained my legs yesterday.  Apparently I've earned a new set of bonus workouts.  It goes from the 4th set to a 5th set, super fun speed round.  Mentally I feel like I can't but somehow I continue to get through it.

I am not being a good healthy pony this week. Health issues have kept me from working out as much as I'd like.
