Title: What's up with watercolor Seawinkle?
Post by: starrynights on January 23, 2021, 04:42:18 PM
I found this pony:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Her hair is a strange super soft texture that won't curl, and her body is ranging from transparent brown to orange.
Apparently her body is supposed to be purple? Any idea on how to get it to change back?
I noticed when I washed her hair it got a bit of a blue tone to it for a while.

They're supposed to color change in warm water. These ponies often get stuck though!
I love how the hair on these guys feels. So silky.

Interesting! I wonder if there is a way to make her color turn back to original.

I think with the G3 color change Starcatcher (the Fashion Size that changed with hot and cold water) it was suggested that it be placed in the freezer to reset the color changing layer.  But I have no idea if that would work with your Seawinkle.   :what:

normal breakdown from PVC toys that are 30+ years old... the hair feels like cornsilk and they discolour, they can't be fixed because it was a color changing chemical reaction

How do you put a pony that big into the freezer? :what:

I imagine you could lay her on her size and stuff her somewhere.

Also, I just got Seawinkle out, freezing did nothing but cover her in condensation and make her vinyl as hard as a rock

their hair is weird though, i had one once and the hair felt like it was made out of cotton or something, very different to any nylon

Yeah. It's extremely soft, but impossible to style.

So I shared 2 links of my Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies that I sell currently to show you how the hair looks like originally. It doesn't have anything to do with nylon. It is a temperature sensitive thread consisting of 2 (or 3) strands. When you take the baby pony in water to play with it as kid, the strands loosened and the thread swelled to get the structure that you see in the pictures of Seawinkle above. Sadly this is a non-reverse process and you cannot comb or style the hair anymore.
It's interesting that this thread was used on fakies too. Adults and babies.

That’s really interesting pandabearchan:D. I never knew that’s how the hair worked.

My watercolor Misty got mildly inside and was thrown out when I was still small. She was the last sea pony I was allowed to play with in the tub. I don’t remember if  she got stuck between colors though.
