These news have been out for a while but I only heard of this new line a few days ago when promo images appeared on a toy site.
At first I thought it was by someone else but the Ever After/Monster High trademark torsos and joints gave them away. I was happy to see Mattel is still moving forward with fun/creative fashion doll lines after their "High" franchises are over.
I am extremely loving these. Not sure what happened to Mattel's attempt at launching Wild Hearts Crew but Cave Club seems to be the bigger line with a comic book deal and cartoon attached and scheduled for summer 2020.
They are so obviously inspired by The Flintstones but come on, these look mega cute. I can forgive the Creationist angle with the dinosaurs living with humans because hey look at this gaudy pastel T.Rex they are riding? It has an afro!
Anyways, any time I think I am done with dolls they rope me back in. I hope these find an audience because I am liking these way more than Wild Hearts. They also look a bit like Disney's Moana and Hairdorables to me. And they have a token boy who gets a full head of hair as well and all dolls seem to have flat feet, thank Cave God.
No stripper heels made of stones and vines for you, Pebbles! :lol:

I forgot to mention, these are also accompanied by a line of Blind Bag figs that come in a little crystal and you either get sand or slime. Slime is hated here, as are Blind figs, but the little dinos and mammals you get are super cute. Pet sitting seems to be one of the themes.

Cutesaurus as well as a bunch of other 90s "girly dinosaur" toys would go great with them. I have a Dina Bambina from childhood that also had hair pieces. Gotta love how all that stuff comes back.
For that matter, Mattel's own Jurassic World dinos can go well with these if you repaint them pastelly :lol: I noticed this Pastel Rex has the same oversized Jurassic World feet.

Oh wow I thought these were Hairdorables at first when I saw the pics XD I think I'm gonna have to pass on these ones since the aspects I'm liking about them are covered by lines I already collect but they are quite cute :D

The level of articulation takes Cave Club up a notch, imo, from the things it's competing with. It's funny to me that these silly cavepeople dolls are also, like, the only doll line out right now with actual characters and story, thin though they may be.

They are surprisingly cute- I usually prefer fantasy/paranormal angles, but even so they are very appealing with their big hair and articulated limbs

That's why I like them, actually. They are very fantasy/scifi just like The Flintstones were. No way people used a stone as a telescope or existed at the same time as a T.Rex, nevermind taming one :lol:
I just hope the line sells. The doll market has become unpredictable to me. I want them to do well so we can see more dinosaurs.

I wonder if this is a risk nowadays, especially for Mattel who - as we know - likes to kill their own lines as soon as they become more interesting than Barbie. And it's not hard to have a more interesting story than Barbie... the new Barbie movie is yet another princess thing.
They are going the same route as MH and EAH: multimedia storytelling. So we might end up with three canons just like with the High lines :lol: One comic, one cartoon and one diary.

Love these new releases! I think I'm more excited about the dino's than the dolls haha, although the dolls are also adorable.. Afro T-Rex is my favorite so far :lovey:

It's interesting (for dino nerds like me) that they gave the Rex one correct arm and one wrong arm. As if they couldn't decide on making it look outdated or not. The tuft of "hair" is comically correct as well as T.Rex juveniles were found with pictofibre flocking. The overbite is typical as well.

oh my goodness those are cute! But man, after the zelfs and the novi-s came in as MLP buddies I don't know if there's room to add in dinos and riders alongside all the fairy and alien themes...

That's exactly my point, Captain Obvious :lol:
The limp wrist pose wasn't possible according to new (already years old) research. All predatory theropods had to hold their arms in a grab/applause position. That's how one arm is positioned correctly and the other is not on this toy. Probably not intentionally so but fun nevertheless. Some Jurassic World toys have the same issue.

just picked up the set = they are bigger than I had imagined... they will be riding my fantasy fillies as they are too big for G1s in general, well they might work for like those bigger pocket ponies
cute overall and I like the joint/moveability just it was funny I thought they were smaller for some reason

I have them all but the T-Rex set... has that popped up anywhere? I’m really loving these!
As a side note, the “Amazon Exclusive” versions of the basic dolls come with crimped hair extensions that clip in with plastic bone barrettes. They also, intriguingly, have vastly different packaging. No windows, and plastic-free except for a few ties inside. Lots of great art all over the exterior, and tney can easily be folded down and stored like backboards without cutting anything. :)

For any UK peeps looking for them, check your Smyths Toys carefully - the one I was in yesterday had these tucked away at the back of the store, very easy to miss.
I went to town for the first time in months today and I saw these for the first time in Smyths.
THey are interesting and I like the articulation.
I am trying not to add any more collections or even dolls because I still have to sort my MH dolls.
But I like that they have something other than "hey, we're fashion dolls!" to sell them.
I won't rule out adding one. Maybe.

These are on Amazon Germany but it's the store versions, not the Amazon versions. I don't get it?
Anyways, these are really cute but after I have seen them in stores I don't think they fit my collection. They are much fairer priced than other Mattel dolls, tho. That kinda surprised me! You can get them on Amazon for 14€ and in stores for 18€ despite their size and poseability. Barbie Fashionistas are 13€ for comparison.

good catch on that detail - I always love an excuse to open up one and emberley has been the only lucky one let out so far ( so I've been eyeing that 3-pack now selling) so it'll be cool I have an excuse to snag another Slate to have the "club" out of the box to hang out with with the rest of the shelf -crew (MLP, zelf, novistars, rainbow brite, herself the elf and LPS :-) it's a fun-world)

They’ll probably do like Monster high and have several different themed lines. Like, prom, traveling theme, sports, etc.

Not a huge doll person, but I'm drawn to them for their articulation and cute bodies! Maybe I'll pick up a few for some headswap tests. I'm glad to see that they haven't been discontinued.

Right now I%u2019m more of a fan of the MGA dolls.
Honestly I'm liking all of them. The main way I'm surviving is of course being picky and focusing on the ones that appeal to me the most. I finally got my first OMG dolls because the Remix Super Set with it's totally outrageous band theme appealed to me and unless they release a rainbow themed girl that's not an expensive playset doll, I'll be waiting for Rainbow High to have their formal dance line. I'd love if Cave Club had some kind of line with a crystal theme.

Is Bashley’s hair extension Amazon exclusive, though? Unlike the other basic dolls, I don’t actually see “Amazon Exclusive” or “online exclusive” stamped on the listing...
I have to say, I really hope Bashley’s quality is an indicator of things to come! Her dress is so much nicer than anything the previous dolls have had... Please Mattel!—no more paper-thin, unfinished nylon!

Bashley has a great design, definitely my favorite out of the dolls. She stands out as her own unique character but she gives me Jem vibes – it’s awesome.
Someone in the thread earlier dressed these dolls up in Barbie clothes and they were kind of big, are there any other notable doll clothes they can wear? The entirety of the Cave Club line is kind of short and muscular. It doesn’t seem like the company involved or fans are interested in making new clothes for them, which leaves the dolls kind of stuck in the outfits they came packaged with. I like clothing variety. :(

I only have one of these - she was on sale over Christmas so I bought her on a whim. Emberly I think. She's the redhead.
I remember Jem ailed in part because she didn't have a normal body physique (normal in doll terms, they were actually more normal than barbie in other ways xD).
I have the rest of a really boring weekend ahead of me though. I'm now contemplating if I know where my fabric is and whether to see if I can make Emberly some new clothes...or at the very least, patterns.

Is anyone collecting the baby dinos? Or knows who may be selling doubles? These blind bags are harder to desifer the codes, i don't want to end with a pile of doubles T_T

oh no! they went the blind bag route that is so annoying for exactly that reason - doubles (I found a tokidoki broker to avoid all the blind box doubles - not fun to me)
hopefully you find a fellow collector here - or maybe see if there is a FB group formed? It is amazing how that has been a good reason for social networking when it comes to swapping out doubles :-)

This is a pretty interesting line, love the articulation, and the theme is nice and fresh. I'm not a fan of the overall look only because I tend to like the dark and mysterious doll themes, but they're cute; and who doesn't love baby dinos?

Oh, I am so waiting for them to introduce a darker character. I am always eager to see either gothy or rocky characters in doll lines. They already got a rocker in Bashley but she is very pastelly. I hope the line continues the way it does so we can see a couple more dolls. I think they generally go into a very colorful and fun direction with them so I am not getting my hopes up too high. If they made a goth girl they could use dark purples instead of black, it could work. And make her ride a pterosaur so we'd get Raven Queen 2.0 :lol:

I don't really see Raven in Lumina. She is pale with darker hair, sure, but she is more of a Melody Piper. She is a DJ and with those neon hairstreaks she feels more like a raver, not strictly goth. I really like her design, though. I also appreciate the new characters are all still getting pets. The pets are getting more clever, too. Ruly's dodo being named Thesaurus made me chuckle.

I just picked up slate, lumina and some pets (after I learned they have CODES) yesterday. It seems like most of my stores have stopped carrying them or something I haven’t seen them since they went on clearance
