Title: Whats the weather like where you are?
Post by: melodys_angel on February 08, 2017, 08:45:53 AM: Pretty self explanatory.

Im curious. Its been dull and grey here for a bit now and im finding myself wanting spring.

It hasn't been overly cold or snowy, though we do get the typical snaps and im sure we will be getting a few more storms.

So what do you see? A wall of snow? Blue skies and blistering weather?

Yup.

We're basically experiencing early Spring right now. I think we're supposed to get a total of 1 inch of snow this weekend, but it's going to warm up again next week. In your face, dumb groundhog! Kinda impossible to have 6 more weeks of winter when we've barely had winter to begin with.

We have a rain chance throught the week but its so muggy outside you feel weighed down and oddly sticky. The weather lady on the news said out average this time of year usually is the mid to upper 60's but we've actually been breaking records and going above 80F

Basically the Texas coastline is awful stay away

This is basically my weather forecast here. It's been warmer than normal all winter with the most snow being around a few inches before being melted away the next day but this storm doesn't look like it's going to be that way. In fact, I believe it's had a severe thunderstorm side to it as well. It's just crazy how a storm system can have two seasons in it at once.

I think it's beginning to take a toll on me. We haven't had a real winter in many years now, and this year autumn was almost completely taken over by summer. (it was still hitting the 80s in November). I need to get out of here and find some place with four seasons, because it's always bringing me down and the fact that "Spring" is right on the horizon makes me really depressed. I hate Spring so much.

This. :P And it irks me that it keeps switching! One week it's freezing, the next week it's "warm" with rain, then the next week it's freezing again for a few days, and then the "warm" weather with rain comes back. Make up your mind, weather! >_<

It was -26°C yesterday, with a windchill of -38° :brr:. However, we're now having a chinook and it's +5°C. It's been too cloudy, I need some sunlight. :sunny:

We've had a good share of precipitation this winter, but at this point there's barely any snow left on the ground. I think I'm the only person around here that actually wants more snow.

Same here. It's pretty dull and grey most of the time, but very warm for February. Most days, I don't even turn on the heating anymore.

If it's going to be hot in winter, it darn well better get cold during the summer. But it won't work that way. Of course it won't. It just gets hotter more and more of the year each year, and the pocket for cold air just continues to diminish.

Still some snow in some areas on the outskirts of the city. I was up at Ohara the other day and there was still snow on the roofs up there. A week or two ago, too, there was a ton of snow still in Yamanashi around the Fuji area. But here in Kyoto the weather is generally cold and mostly bright. Yesterday was freezing first thing, but by the middle of the day it was very bright and sunny and warm enough to eat ice cream without dying of hypothermia ;)

I think it's supposed to stay like that for a bit now. The weather has been a bit up and down which is apparently unusual for this time of year.

For goodness sake, it is early March. It should be too chilly for severe thunderstorms. Key word "should". Nothing in the weather world is as it should be anymore, except for summertime which is just hot the whole way through.

Thankfully, I don't think any damage was done, and if any was it would have been on the South side of town... But still... I would have been scared out of my mind.

Ugh, it's the same in Sydney lately. RainrainrainrainSUUUUUUNrainrainrain...

So sporadic and weird at the moment. Today's been rainy and dull, but the last week has been so weird and all over the place.

We have no air conditioning at all and even in the middle of the night, our house never cools off more than like the 80s... I've never been more desperate to go to the pool in my life but I can't go alone and I've been begging everyone I know and whenever I'm given hope it will happen people flake. :hot:

That's miserable. I remember back in high school my parents waited very late to turn on the AC because it was too expensive and it was soooo miserable. I remember that feeling.

The idea of not having an air conditioner at all is foreign to me. Is it not usually that hot where you live?

Oh no, Utah gets VERY hot. It's technically a desert state... but our only means of air conditioning broke completely at the start of summer last year and we can't afford to repair it. :( Our AC is a swamp cooler ((something that isn't used in a lot of places from what I've gathered)) and even when it ran it didn't do much but that could be because it was old and worn out... our house technically CAN run central air but it doesn't work either and we can't pay the additional bill for that. >_< My dad might be getting some money in the next month or so so we're crossing our fingers that it happens and we can get some kind of relief from the heat.

I'm currently huddled under a blanket, because although it doesn't get as cold here as it does in some other places, the people who build houses here in Australia do not seem to understand that winter exists and insulation is a good idea. To be fair, winter pretty much doesn't exist in some parts of the country - but this is not one of them. To quote a recent Facebook comment thread about this: Australia isn't that cold, but Australians are.

Yeah, it gets that hot here in the summer and almost every house I've lived in didn't have air conditioning (family eventually had it added it to this one). It sucks. I'm sorry you're in the same situation.

The only downside is that it's been raining quite a bit, and I'm organising a garden party on Saturday. I do hope the weather will get better by then. There's a room indoors we can use in case of rain, but it wouldn't be nearly as nice.

I so hear where you are coming from Kittywhiskers! We have the EXACT same problem here in South Africa. Most of our houses have absolutely no insulation whatsoever and so are freezing cold in winter (and cost a ton to heat) and boiling hot in summer. Fun times

We are in mid winter, but snow is something unheard of here. Even rain in our area - we get our rain in summer. So it is crisp and cool, to warm and sunny during the middle of the day. Yesterday had a horrible cold wind, but that has died down and it turned out quite pleasant.

Ophelia was passing from south-west to north-east, crossing over Ireland (battered by the wind storms) and then over northern England/Scotland;

the South-East of the UK and London experienced a red sun and a yellow sky (brought on by particles of Sahara sand blown up from Africa, along with smoke particles from the fires of Portugal, according to some reports) which made for a strange-feeling day as everything outside had a sepia tinge. Twitter was flooded with posts about it! It had that feeling that the sky was going to break out into a gigantic thunder storm, but never did.

It was about 19 degrees C according to my car, much warmer than usual for this time of year, again, warmth blown over from Africa as a side-effect of Ophelia. I expect a lot of cars/trees/houses will have a fine coating of yellow dust over the next few days as the weather settles back to what it should be!

Anyway, with that aside, the weather is FINALLY cooling off, and I think it just might be actually beginning to stick. No 80s in the ten day forecast right now. It's a miracle!

That's a little chilly for October, but I certainly would take it!

I would be happiest with autumns where the afternoon temperatures generally range from 45 F (approximately 7C) to 59 F (15C).

Sadly, we can't even stay that cool during Winter.

If only 70 were as warm as it would get. Sadly here there are three days of 80s in the forecast already and I'm sure those temperatures will rise as the days get nearer. :cry:

It will be November by the time those days happen. I am not happy. Even with Oklahoma's messed up idea of seasons, November is supposed to be the end of 80 degree days. In fact, the 70s are supposed to be gone for the most part, too.

Cool and dry today, autumnal sunshine, lows of 2 deg C to highs of 10 deg C this afternoon. Coat and scarf weather, along with my smart new boots! :penguin:

Now it's in the 50s and is supposed to stay in the 50s today with cloudy conditions. I love it!

I just hope those 60s later in the forecast stay 60s and don't rise up to 70s and 80s. (That's what happened last week. The forecast was originally all 60s, which looked very nice, but then as we got closer those 60s turned into 80s. :hmm: )
