Title: Need some display ideas
Post by: Strawberrysweets on September 12, 2019, 03:33:58 AM
Haven't posted here in a while, so hi again Arena!
Finally getting my apartment at the start of October so that means I can make a display area for my collection.
Is it best behind glass door or without? I have a few ponies with parfumes(Puff pony and the BasicFun Rainbow set) so a bit worry for discoloring if they get closed up or them effecting others.
Also how do you display them? By year or set?

I am getting my parents old 80s display cabinets(hah perfect) where there are two glass doored cabinets with glass shelfs and then two lower cabinets with closed off doors, maybe do some future DIY on them too add windows. It gives me alot display area which I need cause somehow I went from 10 G1s to 83 G1s.
Show me some of yours to help me get some ideas?

Hello! With my ponies, I have them on open shelves, so no glass. But I'm fairly certain it's better to have glass doors in front of them, so there's less dust. I display my G1s and most of my G3s by pose, and my G4s by color. With my G2s since I don't have many I just have them places more at random.

I would still display similarly if I were to have glass doors; I do it by set. The glass doors shouldn't be airtight I wouldn't think? It's mostly for dust. I've got poor lighting right now so I'll try to kick myself out of bed tomorrow to take pictures of my G1 setup.
Just mentioning that if you are really pressed for space, risers help IMMENSELY. I just got some from a new home goods shop nearby and it freed up a whole chunk of space that I didn't know I had on my shelves! So excuse the whole cluster of ponies at the bottom and the empty bits of space when I get to that.  :P
