Hi everyone,
I would like to include arena members in this. I have started a group of Facebook about this (but do not need to be a member on it).. We have started a petition to get Basic Fun / Bridge Direct to make the mysterious celestial ponies!

Who are the Fancy Swirls?
Fancy Swirl ponies, are a set of G1 My Little Ponies, that never made it past prototype stage. The ponies were supposed to set in a ‘celestial’ type theme, representing space alien ponies. Each pony was supposed to come with a marbled, two toned body, with antennas, tinsel in their hair and outer space themed romp designs.

What makes the Fancy Swirls so special?
Fancy Swirl ponies were never produced to the general public. Illustrations leaked of these beauties, when Hasbro shared old packaging designs at a My Little Pony Convention in 2008. When collectors first saw these illustrations it caused a great deal of excitement, curiosity and questions for this mysterious set.
Why Fancy Swirls?
Over the last decade, licensed merchandise has popped up in local shops and throughout online retailers around the world. This proves that not only the G1 My Little Pony collector is interested in these, but the general public as well. Their beautiful coloring and details are not only attractive, but unique to any other pony toy ever made.
How can we get these Fancy Swirl ponies made?
By voicing your opinion. With no guarantee, but there is a possibility that the current company Basic Fun (Bridge Direct), who holds the G1 MLP license could bump these swirled beauties into production. All you will have to do is send a simple letter requesting the Celestial / Fancy Swirl ponies. It is recommended that you include the original artwork and some photos of licensed merchandise that has been sold. Please make sure that the focus is for the Celestial / Fancy Swirl set and not to side track to other ponies. We will get to those later.
We encourage you to send your letter through direct mail, and will cost you just a postage stamp.
Below, you will find a sample letter written by Em Nash (Wings Of Masquerade). Please do not copy this word for word, but you may use for a reference. All letters must be written in English. Be sure to include at the bottom of your letter your name and home and email address. Once your letter is finalized, please print and mail it as soon as possible. Don’t forget to submit a copy of your letter to us by email ([email protected]), so we can re-print it at a later date and submit all 500+ letters together. Please do not email or Facebook message Basic Fun regarding these ponies, as you will get a generic response.

I'm a My Little Pony Collector, and I'm just writing to say I totally love your Retro Collector Ponies! I've already got the whole set from Target & I was so amazed and happy to find these on store shelves.
Because you're releasing older Hasbro ponies, could you please consider the Celestial Ponies set?
This set of 4 characters has been super popular on merchandise at Hot Topic, in the UK, & more, and I would really love a chance to buy these as real ponies from you guys. I have attached Hasbro's old art of these here, as well as the art that other companies are using on merchandise. All the fans seem to love these characters like I do, so I wanted to write to let you know about them.
If you want the official art from the 1980s for these along with the molds/poses Hasbro had in mind, I know we've got a fan in our community who has all that stuff back from the official convention.

This is great!
The company is small so we ACTUALLY have a chance! Ever since I saw that merch and stuff with them on there I have been so mad that Hasbro didn't make them. But while Hasbro may burn fan letters to stoke their furnace in the winter I bet these guys don't. They're actually in FL too, not a giant in NY or Calif or China or something hmm.
I am 100% writing a letter over the weekend and will send it out on Monday.

You can add the most special piece of all: Your own name.
What companies care about isn't so much the sentiment just "Who is this and what do they want". So "YourName wants Fancy Swirl" is absolutely the best thing you can do. They will then look at the post mark (Where are you? Are you the same person as the other? No? Ok) and discover that you are a legitimate person who wants their product. The aim here (that is do-able) is to build up enough names that they actually do the thing. One person to them is literally a drop in a bucket, but the only way to fill up a bucket is to go drop by drop.
This goes for everybody: Your name is your drop, let's fill up the bucket and then pour out some fancyswirls for ourselves!

This campaign is a great idea! And please, EVERYONE write!!! This isn't just about getting information to The Bridge Direct / Basic Fun, it's about showing them that LOTS of people want these ponies released . . . not just one person. The more people who write in, the more likely they are to make them!
Emailing them is good too, but snail mail is even better (because with snail mail they will be able to confirm that we are indeed all different people writing from all different places . . . Otherwise they might think we're just a few people who are making loads of fake email accounts, lol.)
BTW, I am going to be running a giveaway later (once I get organized), and anyone who writes in will get a chance at PRIZES. :frolic: So please take a picture of your stamped letter before you send it so you'll be eligible. Heck, if they can make antennae Breezies, they can surely make these!
I'll see if I can get an international stamp sometime this week, as I hardly ever write letters anymore! :lol:
To coin a street phrase, we are totally "stanning" these pony re-releases :cool:

This is a great idea! It doesn't cost much to send a letter abroad from the UK, so I'll hop in on this. Maybe international demand will mean international releases if we're successful! :D

Galaxy ponies? Count me in! I hope these guys get released, for sure! I've always been enamored with celestial themes and astronomy. (fingers crossed they make a celestial pony named Orion, Hatsya, Saiph, or Polaris)
And if these prototype ponies do get released, it would give me hope that I can possibly start a movement for the re-release of international exclusive ponies, like the Takaras.

I highly recommend including a picture so they know what ponies you are talking about, lol. Click here for a picture of the ponies from My Little Wiki. - Take a picture of your letter and your addressed envelope before sending the letter. Cover up your address and other personal information with a little piece of paper (or photo-edit it out).

- I will do drawings for the prizes on a rolling basis, i.e. not all on the same day. Not sure when I will start doing the drawings yet, stay tuned. :)
- Winners will be chosen via random number generator. :) Many prizes, many winners!

The more letters Basic Fun! receive the more strength the petition has ^^ Imagine the impact of getting hundreds of letters from all parts of the world asking for the same thing.

We non-US people HAVE to step in and support stuff like this. Reality check for the unmotivated, and without any negative intent, but the US is the original home of MLP and all the companies involved in this are based there. The US will get things that we won't get unless we tell them that we are here too and that we want them. I can't stress this enough. If you don't believe me, the Loyal Subjects are a good example. The US gets stuff we don't get , and if we aren't making our voices heard, we won't get.
People in the UK are not often motivated to do anything except complain after the fact. We're all pretty guilty of leaving the hard work up to other people, it's often in our nature - but there is a HUGE following of MLP in the UK. Let's not forget that Hasbro uses the UK as a dumping ground for excess stock from other countries and has done so since the 1990s. The UK coordinates a lot of Hasbro's European operations for G4, too. And MLP survived here longer than it survived in the US in two generations. I am speaking as a British person, so if you think this is an insulting generalisation, remember I'm applying it to myself as well ;)
In terms of continental Europe, some of you guys had G1 longer than any other country. The rest of you kept G2 going when everywhere else had given up. Some of you also had ponies made in your countries.
In terms of Australia and New Zealand - they will keep cutting you out unless you make them hear you on this.
So basically, international people MUST write. Whether it be a letter by mail, or facebook, or whatever method, it is MORE important for people outside of the US to communicate ideas. Because US companies will always think of the US market first. And it's for us to make them realise we're here too.
In terms of this, I'm game to support this so long as it's ok that I will write about the mystery pony as welll in my letter. I like the celestials but I am more motivated for the Midnight Castle pony because she doesn't belong to any particular country, in a sense. She's a true mystery for all of us. Whereas the celestial ponies came out of US design stuff and we don't know if they would be global or not, I feel like Mystery Pony is pretty much an iconic pony for everyone to attach themselves to. So if she can be involved in this campaign too, I'm in ;)
I will write, but I need to do my lesson plan first ;)
@LM - problem with your conditions. In the UK it's more normal for them to print a label at the PO at the time of sending. That means it's not easy to get a photo of a stamped addressed envelope. We're not all posting domestically, and getting an international stamp means going to the PO for it...because you can't get them easily in other places outside the PO.

I agree with you SO much! We need to make noise and make them aware that we want those ponies too. If they only get letters from the US, and they decide to release them they will only sell them in the US.
And what you say about people in the UK letting others do the hard work.. It's not only UK. It happens here is Spain too. :/

We're not all posting domestically, and getting an international stamp means going to the PO for it...because you can't get them easily in other places outside the PO.
I understand that it will be more costly / difficult for people outside the US, and I truly appreciate the extra effort of any non-Americans who send letters. <3 I did consider giving international letter writers an extra drawing entry, but that would be opening up a can of worms . . . Like, one person in the US might be a block away from the post office while another is 25 miles from a post office, should I also be giving the person 25 miles away extra entries? So at the end of the day . . . it is what it is, one entry per letter. :)
My hope is that people would be writing letters anyway, so the giveaway is just an additional little bonus. :)
Also anyone who reblogs the Tumblr post (which can be found here (http://heckyeahponyscans.tumblr.com/post/169928749828)) gets one additional entry. :)

Karen, please tell me that stationary is available online? Because I will be writing every letter ever on that thing. I will include hand written letters when I pay bills. I will turn off my online bill pay to send in checks with hand written letters for that stationary.

Actually no, not online. I made the letter and envelope; printing/signs/etc is what I do for work, tis my job/business. So I took a moment to kinda get my point across to the company and design a background for the letter and envelope.

This is what happens when you work at a printing company and are getting ready to run envelopes but get distracted by looking on the arena and facebook.

That wasn't my point. My point was that it is basically impossible to do what you're asking for a UK letter without 2 trips to the post office or risking putting an international letter in a general post box. It's hard to get an international stamp in the UK because the post office prefers to print a label at point of posting, thus making it not practical to take a photo before posting. IE, it gets taken to the PO, stamp labelled and taken away by the po teller...and you don't get to take the stamping machine home with you. So either we have to go to the PO twice, risk the internal box mail delay...or we have to send the letter via a reliable method direct at the PO, but aren't eligible for your draw.
I'll also be blunt. I am not sending any letter unless it also includes other stuff in it. I like the celestials, but I care more about other releases than them, and if I'm going to give myself a navigation crisis trying to find my London PO to mail this thing, I'm going to make sure it counts.

Well, don't get me wrong, it's really generous of you to run the prize draw. And I have no problem sending an international letter at higher cost. But sending an international letter has different rules at PO from a domestic one.
As for the content of the letter, I thought about this and I realise that it matters more to me to write about Medley and co than the celestials. I am game to write about the celestials, but if they don't happen, then they don't. If Medley and co come out but only in the US again, that will upset me more. So I want to write about the things that are important to me for this campaign. When you are not in the US, you can't leave anything to chance. You have to make every possible opportunity to get your voice heard or you don't get anything. And you guys already had the ponies that I've waited 30+ years to see on the store shelves. So I'm happy to support the campaign. But don't ask me to sidetrack what's really important to me in the process...
I'm not saying everyone has to agree with me or fight for the same things I want. I'm just saying that that is what is important to me, and that is what I intend to write about. And while doing so, I'll write about the celestials, but I want Medley and Glory much much more.

@LM - problem with your conditions. In the UK it's more normal for them to print a label at the PO at the time of sending. That means it's not easy to get a photo of a stamped addressed envelope. We're not all posting domestically, and getting an international stamp means going to the PO for it...because you can't get them easily in other places outside the PO.
I understand that it will be more costly / difficult for people outside the US, and I truly appreciate the extra effort of any non-Americans who send letters. <3 I did consider giving international letter writers an extra drawing entry, but that would be opening up a can of worms . . . Like, one person in the US might be a block away from the post office while another is 25 miles from a post office, should I also be giving the person 25 miles away extra entries? So at the end of the day . . . it is what it is, one entry per letter. :)
My hope is that people would be writing letters anyway, so the giveaway is just an additional little bonus. :)
Also anyone who reblogs the Tumblr post (which can be found here (http://heckyeahponyscans.tumblr.com/post/169928749828)) gets one additional entry. :)
That wasn't my point. My point was that it is basically impossible to do what you're asking for a UK letter without 2 trips to the post office or risking putting an international letter in a general post box. It's hard to get an international stamp in the UK because the post office prefers to print a label at point of posting, thus making it not practical to take a photo before posting. IE, it gets taken to the PO, stamp labelled and taken away by the po teller...and you don't get to take the stamping machine home with you. So either we have to go to the PO twice, risk the internal box mail delay...or we have to send the letter via a reliable method direct at the PO, but aren't eligible for your draw.
I'll also be blunt. I am not sending any letter unless it also includes other stuff in it. I like the celestials, but I care more about other releases than them, and if I'm going to give myself a navigation crisis trying to find my London PO to mail this thing, I'm going to make sure it counts.
There is a particular ponyfriends who can print your letter and mail it (hint hint), said friend buys stamps by the roll. They have american flags on them that say USA forever...(grin).

we also are encouraging everyone to email the letters to [email protected] , and they will be all printed to be sent as well. Location matters on each letter. I have 3 facebook videos regarding this. I am going to try to upload them to this Arena post.

@Uni ;) thank you for the offer ;) I figure the campaign wants to have people sending from different locations, though, so I will probably send it myself.
Thinking about it, I feel it's more time critical to address early poies, and especially Glory and co because they were so iconic to me when I was a child. Mystery Pony also fits in with them. And if I;m the only person in the UK bothered about getting Glory and co here, I need to write about them from the UK, and probably, right now. If there are more ponies in the offiing in autumn, good chance that set might be among the considered candidates. We don't like region locked pony releases, we've all decided that -so I want to persuade them not to make region locked releases for those ponies if they are to come out. And the case HAS to be made, as there is no Hasbro evidence of UK sales for these characters. And if they don't give us the flat foots, they won't give us these unless we tell them.
I will write two letters. I'll write one for the celestials and one for this. But I'd like to emphasise that if people in the UK do want those early ponies, we need to write about those too, and NOW. Because the celestials are NOT part of the autumn plan. But Glory and company MIGHT be, and this MIGHT be the moment where release decisions are made. And if we want mystery pony with the DVD of the special, she needs to be in context with the ponies she belongs with...so we could easily miss our chance by focusing only on a later design set.
So if we're not allowed to write letters with multiple things at once in them, we need to write two letters.
I need to do my lesson plan this weekend now, so my letters for both will probably be done Monday.

Yep, me too. That's why I will send 2 letters for this, one for the celestial project and one for the things that I know I really want to see.
The reason I;m getting so obsessive about this right now is that it occurred to me that we already have the poses in production for Medley/Firefly Glory/Moondancer and a pony like the mystery one could easily be made in the CP or the shy pose. There's also potential for Applejack and Bow Tie without them needing any new poses. So realistically if they just made one new pose, the sitting pose (and let's not forget that fakie appeared in that pose...) we'd potentially have 1983 basic ponies covered.
But it would be easy for them to just ship Bubbles/Seashell/AJ/Bow Tie here and add Cotton Candy and Blossom who we didn't get yet and give the unicorns and pegasus ponies to the US. Because these ponies have poses that are already basically there, they're obvious choices.
It's fine to say we;ll get to other campaigns later, but there's no point if it's after all the decisions have been made.
So lets write for all the things we want. Separate letters, maybe, but write. There might be concerted campaigns again later, but for things like this, we have to write now. Write for the celestials, but don't JUST write for them. Write for the things you want to see :)

My letter is written.
I've written two letters, one for the other stuff and one for the celestials and will send them in separate letters so they can't intervene with each other.
I haven't got a stamp on the envelope because of the way the UK processes stuff. They don't generally like you taking photos inside post offices in London, they might think you're casing the joint xD. I'll take it to the post tomorrow or Tuesday (if I am on campus, that actually makes posting it easier because the PO is easier to find near university xD)

For me, one of the most fun prospects of a retro release like this, is getting stuff in G1-style that was never produced, and I would love to see stuff based on old concepts that went unused. I think I might suggest they get in touch with Ruth Bush, who we know have access to a lot of unused artwork and concepts (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,380943.0.html), or other designers from Hasbro who worked on G1.
The Fancy Swirl ponies are probably the most hyped unproduced ponies though, so it makes sense to go for those if they are going to do this kind of thing. And from the artwork it looks like these ponies could have been very pretty and unique. I'd really want them to be as close as possible to what they would have looked like if released back the late '80s/early '90s though. I wish we had a picture of an actual Fancy Swirl pony for reference. That swirly pattern all over their bodies might be difficult to achieve from a production standpoint. That might well be the reason they weren't made in the first place.
Nonetheless, I think it's important to show that there is interest for this type of thing. Even if they aren't able to produce the Fancy Swirls, they can hopefully go for something else that was never released. (first tooth Baby Sundance is probably close to the top on my most wanted list)

FT Baby Sundance also feels like a pony that's had a lot of buzz around her, once thought to be an European exclusive, and appearing in the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe commercial and the Pony Friends' card artwork. Bridge Direct could get a lot of mileage out of the FT molds. The very popular and rare TAF babies use them, as well as Baby Crumpet, two dutch exclusives and many collectors would probably appreciate being able to easily get a Baby Quackers without any brown spots.

Talking about FT Baby Sundance, it'd be awesome if other BBE babies like Shady, Lofty, Sleepy and Frosting got a chance to be normal (no disrespect to those who like BBE).

I would pay good money for a Baby Shady with regular eyes. I already have a custom, but I would love a licensed one. Of all the early baby ponies, actually, she's probably the one I would like to see most. I don't separate early babies in my mind because in the UK they were all the same in stories and they were all play and care set ponies when they were released, so I include Baby Glory etc in that. We didn't have them either, I'd have liked them - but Baby Shady...always wanted her to go with my Shady.
Also I'd really like to see a regular Ribbon, Lofty and PARADISE. I may have included Paradise in my second letter. I am unashamedly obsessed with Paradise. Ribbon also...I'm sure she came real close to being released but then wasn't. It would be lovely to have regular releases of those guys.
I'd love to see first tooth baby Sundance as well. Although to be blunt, she appeared in the US commercial for a US only playset, the US backcard for a US set of pony friends and in the US booklets. The person who put about the rumour about her being European is the one who had access to all that US material and knew she wasn't. It wasn't that anyone thought she was a European pony so much as someone told everyone she was, knowing that she wasn't. My only explanation is that she wanted it to be true so much she convinced herself...

I think given London's current state of security alert, I'd probably be arrested if I tried to do that :/ My experience of central London post offices is that none of them have even the remotest sense of humour. About anything.

Oh, you reminded me... I went to post something with a proof-of-postage certificate, many moons ago, in Notting Hill. The woman at the desk was grumpiness personified. After stamping the cert + paying for my stamp, she then handed the parcel BACK to me to post in the postbox OUTSIDE??!! :blink: I was a bit confused as I thought that they had just "guaranteed" the safety of my parcel within their network, and that they would pop it in a post bag behind their desk... yet I took it OUT of their network to post it outside! She was such a grouch that I couldn't be bothered to argue (I was trying not to laugh at the stupidity of it all!) :lol:

Exactly my point O.O. I've had that happen too. And also them telling me to leave the parcel in the window area where they eventually might collect it if they can be bothered. Right there where anyone can take it o.o.
I am taking mine today. I have to see my professor at 3, so I'll send them from the PO near campus. And hope they don't ask me why I am sending two letters to the same address at the same time.

We don't have a printer at home, so I have everything printed by the Kodak store that is close to where I live. They charge the same no matter how much colour there is on the page. I did mine in Powerpoint as I don't have any fancy programmes on my laptop.

It's so good to have multiple ways to reach them and keep on top of them about making these Celestials. I'm not great at FB though, is there a way to see if this is their most popular FB interaction they've ever had? It would be interesting to see, as it looks quite busy on there now.

Yes, I think having the two ways of calling their attention is interesting. They can look up in the page stats the amount of visits they have and which if the post that most visits gets. So I hope is ours! ^^

The Fancy Swirls were set to be a U.K. Release as well. I have the original packaging proofs.
We non-US people HAVE to step in and support stuff like this. Reality check for the unmotivated, and without any negative intent, but the US is the original home of MLP and all the companies involved in this are based there. The US will get things that we won't get unless we tell them that we are here too and that we want them. I can't stress this enough. If you don't believe me, the Loyal Subjects are a good example. The US gets stuff we don't get , and if we aren't making our voices heard, we won't get.
People in the UK are not often motivated to do anything except complain after the fact. We're all pretty guilty of leaving the hard work up to other people, it's often in our nature - but there is a HUGE following of MLP in the UK. Let's not forget that Hasbro uses the UK as a dumping ground for excess stock from other countries and has done so since the 1990s. The UK coordinates a lot of Hasbro's European operations for G4, too. And MLP survived here longer than it survived in the US in two generations. I am speaking as a British person, so if you think this is an insulting generalisation, remember I'm applying it to myself as well ;)
In terms of continental Europe, some of you guys had G1 longer than any other country. The rest of you kept G2 going when everywhere else had given up. Some of you also had ponies made in your countries.
In terms of Australia and New Zealand - they will keep cutting you out unless you make them hear you on this.
So basically, international people MUST write. Whether it be a letter by mail, or facebook, or whatever method, it is MORE important for people outside of the US to communicate ideas. Because US companies will always think of the US market first. And it's for us to make them realise we're here too.
In terms of this, I'm game to support this so long as it's ok that I will write about the mystery pony as welll in my letter. I like the celestials but I am more motivated for the Midnight Castle pony because she doesn't belong to any particular country, in a sense. She's a true mystery for all of us. Whereas the celestial ponies came out of US design stuff and we don't know if they would be global or not, I feel like Mystery Pony is pretty much an iconic pony for everyone to attach themselves to. So if she can be involved in this campaign too, I'm in ;)

@LM - problem with your conditions. In the UK it's more normal for them to print a label at the PO at the time of sending. That means it's not easy to get a photo of a stamped addressed envelope. We're not all posting domestically, and getting an international stamp means going to the PO for it...because you can't get them easily in other places outside the PO.

Also, by contacting them, whether about this or anything related to the pony retro project, it shows there's interest. Basic Fun/TBD/Hasbro don't care whether the people buying their items are or are not collectors, but interest is interest and that proves there's a market for G1 style MLP.

All of that aside, there is the additional issue of the celestial ponies being "high concept" with gimmicks that look like they might be complicated or costly to achieve. After all Hasbro decided to cancel them even after getting pretty far in the design department. Between Basic Fun and HQGC it's probably Basic Fun that will have the better resources to get these made in a price point that everyone would be happy with.

I know I'm now going way off base, but there's no logic in assuming they're too much of a gimmick to produce. I mean think of the pocket ponies in those poses. It's possible they decided one gimmick at a time, and went for that one. Also, if you really think about it, the Celestials have some very familiar features to ponies that were produced - the G1 hairdo ponies that came out in Europe. Not only are they fully pearlised in body, they also have something attached to the head. Albeit this is for hair styling and not decoration, but it's more than possible that the concept of THESE ponies was a part of the design process of THOSE later on in production.

Would the colors blend too much or too little? Would it cause the vinyl to not adhere to itself properly or shrink/expand at different rates?

I think possibly the 'colorswirl' ponies themselves maybe answer that question...maybe it was just easier not to try.
But when you think about it, the ideas tied up in that particular set do seem to have spread themselves across other sets.

MLP may have been on a decline in the US, it wasn't on a decline yet in Europe, so they could easily have done what they did with the 7 Characters/MLP Tales and sold those ponies overseas if they were serious about making them. We had a lot of exclusives during those last years, as did the US, which is interesting because it suggests there were two divergent threads going on as to what people thought would sell in what place. We had some things in common but a lot of things different...but MLP declined here in 1993-4, and the invention of two new poses in the 1993 line suggests to me that the end came rather quickly, like with Jem, else why bother?
So there is no reason Hasbro couldn't have released the Celestials in Europe. They just didn't...meaning that sales decline probably isn't the reason, but possibly too many gimmicks in one year of release was.
I also believe from what other people have said that a lot of the y3 adult sea ponies ended up in Canada. They sure didn't come here.

I don't think that would have been an issue. There are plenty of things made of swirl plastic, and even pearlized! Buttons, bouncy balls... I have tons of dice that are swirly and pearlized and looks amazing. The only thing is that each one would have been different, but I would have thought of that as a plus! ^^

They are meant to be Extraterrestrial ponies, so I guess the antennae give them that "out of this world" look. I think it looks cute ^^

I just want to see them mass produced in some way. I know a lot of people think the swirls were meant to be in the plastic but could they have just been solid pearly translucent ponies with the swirls meant to be applied in a special application method. That could even be why they never got made is because they couldn't figure out how to apply the inner legs and belly. Even if Basic Fun decides to do them I'd still like to see a HQG1C based on the concept at the very least.

I actually feel like the lack of "thanks for your input" form letters is a good thing . . . ? Like, to me that suggests they might be meeting / discussing these ponies / waiting for more info on them from Hasbro before replying. Companies can move quite slowly; everyone has their day to day responsibilities so scheduling a meeting can be a bit of a pain in the butt and take some time. (At least that is the case where I work, lol.)
So to me their radio silence suggests they might be exploring the possibility. And it's a lot better than a politely worded 'no'. ;)
In other news I'll be holding the giveaway when I get back from vacation (currently I'm in Hawaii), which will be late February or early March depending how organized I am.

I don't really expect them to communicate anything any more. They annoyed me when they answered my initial enquiry email after a month to give me a copy paste message stating that Rainbow Ponies might be coming out in the US at the end of the year. Obviously I didn't ask anything about the US - but it seems like their PR department is only set up to deal with communication about US release. It's only on facebook that you can actually get human replies, and we haven't been using that for this :/

I was reminded of how great The Bridge Direct's facebook people are when I went on TRU's Facebook and asked if they would stock the retro ponies and got a generic "Here's a link to all our great MLP products!" response. (And I had specified they were retro ponies from The Bridge Direct, not Hasbro ponies, too.)

I think there was a response at the NYC Toy Fair. They said they are impressed with how organized the campaign is, and have already begun to look into it. They are trying to work with Hasbro, and it is pending approval- to make our dreams come true!
I hope we see some written letters or something in the future to us. But this is a very good response. I am happy with it, as long as these aren't their planned SDCC exclusives.

If they became SDCC exclusives it would be a slap in the face and a betrayal to the pony fans from overseas who also wrote for this project. We didn't write in support of the celestials so that the US got them through limited means. We wrote for them to be available everywhere, and I hope that;s the mindset they take from our petition.

But, the celestials super don't belong there.
They belong on store shelves where anyone who wants one can get one, regardless of country. If they're selling the rainbows in EU & USA the celestials should be exactly the same way. I think though, that because they've already said 'they heard our letters', that they're probably actually reading them and looking where they are coming from, so that they actually know it's people everywhere not just attendees of some expensive con.

The people here who wrote, the people here who proposed (Clipper) the people doing the prize draws (Moondancer & anyone else too) all those combined efforts, if that actually makes real, new, official characters come out for every G1 fan to collect I'd say that's the coolest thing to happen in such a long time. Maybe in the way of G1 merch "in ever". And it'd be a literal "Arena Victory", not a youtube victory, or a reddit victory or anything else. That's pretty super special for a community.
Because if you're sitting there in the future with a celestial in hand, would you have ever thought when you signed up to the Arena back in the day:
"Well I'm joining a fun group who will, after x years literally bring back my favorite collectible of all time with a new set/characters" ?
It's quite a thing!

Mmm, don't really agree with it being an "Arena victory". A lot of people who wrote letters are on Facebook or Tumblr, not necessarily the Arena. (Of course there is a lot of overlap between the different platforms. ;) )
We could call it a "community victory", though. ;)
Edit: Speaking of the prize drawing though, I am in the process of gathering the ponies for that (from their various nooks and crannies). After that I'm going to do some "HEY, make sure you EMAILED ME your LETTER PICS" reminders, and after THAT I am actually going to start drawing, lol.
Sorry it's taking a bit. I am not the best organized, and am further befuddled from just getting back from vacation.
I am tentatively predicting that I'll hold the drawing on March 9th.

But it really is too early to get worked up about it. We have no idea what they plan. Though on the other hand, I can't imagine that they would choose to do a character that isn't considered popular (at least according to *their* intel). So it's a good bet that some people are going to be upset no matter what they do. Though I guess they could choose to do a well known character who is also considered common. Like Sundance, for instance.

My sister said she wanted to see the mane 6 in G1 poses. I think that would work for SDCC.

I wouldn't be bothered by Mimic for SDCC tbh. I am interested in the Retros so far as getting ponies I remember from my childhood. About them answering, I'm getting in touch with them and they do answer. They might take a couple of days, but they do get back to me. Last, I contacted them about the Strawberry Shortcake dolls on saturday, and on monday the replied.
Maybe you sent the message when they had a bigger volume of communications and it got lost or misplaced? Maybe you could contact them again asking if they read your message. They always reply, even if it's just a general answer. But I have the feeling that they are trying hard to keep up with all the messages.

That is what I was lead to believe they are currently working on. (A new character in a G1 mold.) But... that being said they weren't sure if they could make production for 2018 SDCC so we may have to wait a year. ;P

Ohmygosh, I want G1 in stores! Especially because I didn't exist when they were, lol. And because they weren't sold in Russia. It would be super easy for me to send a letter because it's just 30 cents, but I don't have a printer. Would it be okay if I write the letter by hand? I can draw pictures of these ponies so the receiver would recognize what I'm talking about. I'm sure if they can make G1 ponies for sale they would be better to sell them worldwide because it's more money.

I always saw flutters or Bride/Eyelash Princess pose. I have a custom set by Skig in flutter poses. The Precious Pocket poses would be neat too, because the bigger bodies would show off the swirls more.

Gosh, these pony designs are everything I love! Shiny, lots of color, outer space, plastic-antenna-doodads... I can't get to the post office today on account of snow, but I'm definitely writing a letter! (Plus those wonderful giveaway prizes are definitely good motivation, if I can make the deadline in time that is! :P)

I don't expect them to reply, especially not to people overseas, since half the time they can't be bothered to reply to non-US people on facebook and definitely not via email. The one email I had from them didn't answer my question and basically just told me when things would be out in the US, which obviously wasn't what I wanted to know.
So if they reply to anyone it will be US people. But I wouldn't put stock in them doing that.
